Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at that fateful Halloween party five years ago - an event that forever changed her life. What she never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she's building for herself.
    Some things are worth experiencing....
Cameron Hamilton is six feet, three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make Avery want things she believed had been irrevocably stolen from her. Getting involved with him is dangerous. Yet ignoring the simmering tension that sparks between them - and brings out a side of her she never knew existed - is impossible.
Some things shouldn't be kept quiet....
But when Avery starts receiving threatening e-mails and phone calls, she's forced to face a past she wants to keep buried and acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. If the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface with one less scar? And will Cam be there to help her?
And some things are worth fighting for....

    such a sweet story
it is heartbreaking, encouraging and very well performed. Cam and Avery are one of my faves.
    Loved it!
    Any additional comments?
This was such a good listen! We've all got something in our past that we regret, some aren't that serious but for everyone...there's always a "what if I had done this instead" playing in the back of our heads and you can't deny that. Now I've listened to many angsty type romances and sooooo many of them have me irritated by the main female character and how stupid she seems by not saying anything until its too late. With this, although there are moments of a little frutration, the author made sure to acknowledge the idiocy, which in some strange reason helped smooth over the moments. In the past I've had the books where I was so irritated in the repitition of her angst that I put the book down for a bit and just walked away...I mean ok, something bad happened, I totally understand - or I would just skip over half a chapter to get past the annoyance. BUT - with this story, it kept moving along...it didn't have me banging my head on how the dark past was holding her back over and over and over like some authors. I felt the frustation with here and not at her....that was a nice change. She has a past, he has a past, but they both are trying to get through it to find a happy place again. Kuddos! Now onto the next in this series yay!
    Adorable love story.
This is a great love story about two college students. Both of them had bad high school experiences that made them who they are. Loved it!
    nice, hartwarming story
Where does Wait for You rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I really liked the story as a book and I liked ot hear it too.
Though I doesn't like the way the speaker is lowering her voice when she speaks the part of the male figur - she sounds like a mafia boss.
What did you like best about this story?
This is a story without this typical hero a la 50 shades of grey and the million books copying it. Finally a male hero who can live well without spanking someone.
Plus: he is just a human beeing and not super-natural.

    Title: Letters for Emily
    Author: Camron Wright
    Narrator: Joe Barrett

Length: 5 hrs and 50 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-30-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios

    Publisher's Summary:
You are so young. You may wonder what an old man like me could teach? I wonder as well. I certainly don't claim to know all the answers. I'm barely figuring out the questions...Life has a strange way of repeating itself and I want my experience to help you...My hope is that you'll consider my words and remember my heart.
Harry Whitney is dying. He has Alzheimer's disease, and he knows his "good" time is dwindling. So he compiles a book of poems for his favorite granddaughter, Emily, hoping that his words of hard-won wisdom will heal the old wounds that are tearing his family apart. But Harry's poems contain much more than meets the eye -- clues and riddles that lead to an extraordinary cache of letters and a promise of hidden gold. As Emily and her family uncover Harry's secrets one by one, they learn unforgettable lessons about romance, forgiveness and hope that might hold them all together.
    Editorial Reviews:
Initially self-published, Letters for Emily developed a rabid fan following in Camron Wrights native Utah, even more so after a glowing endorsement by Mary Higgins Clark. Under the vocal guidance of Joe Barrett, this audiobook (a first novel) earns its common designations as both a "tearjerker" and a "heartwarmer". Barrett easily moves between the epistolary voice of a grandfather suffering from Alzheimers and the lively family interactions in the present moment of the audiobook. Deeply satisfied by the conclusion of the performance, Letters for Emily listeners take away end-of-life wisdom as well as profound messages about appreciation and forgiveness.

    So Inspiring!!

    So beautiful
This story as such a beautiful book about loving each other and yourself and helps you to remember to always work your love out.
    A book to live by!
The story is a little cheesy, but I loved that it is clean and easy to listen to. My favorite part of this book is that the letters to Emily have the greatest words of wisdom. Definitely something I want my kids to read. This would be a great book to listen to on a long drive as a family with teens.

    Members Reviews:
    Good story but poor narration
I loved the storyline and the characters but did not care for Mary Alice Monroe's performance. Her fake southern accent and her inconsistent pronunciation of "Mamaw" really took away from my listening enjoyment.
    Not thrilled
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
someone who needs a sleeping aide
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
There wasn't really an ending, the story lines of characters were left open--almost forcing one to purchase Book 2 for completion.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mary Alice Monroe?
Anyone - she is a good writer and should stick to writing. Reading was lack luster, comparable to psychology 101 in large college auditorium. Monotone. This past month I have listened to Catherine Tabor and Amy Rubinate either would have made this so much more enjoyable.
What character would you cut from The Summer Girls?
None, the women need to be expanded on and not so predictable. While listening not so much "Carson said" Dora said" etc...
    Any additional comments?
Although wondering where the other sisters wonder, not sure I can listen to another book with same narrator.
    The summer girls
I did not enjoy this story, it had promise yes, but, it somehow did not leave me satisfied, I kept wanting to hear more about the two other sisters , and the boy in the story, however the true message was about alchoholism, it's effects on families , and the plight of Dolphins.
I think I was hoping for Southern charm, romance and life in the South.
    Ugh
please tell the reader Southern pronounce Mamaw as Mam-maw not Ma-Ma. as someone who had a Mam-maw it is aggravating to hear.
I liked it but I didn't love it
This is my first listen with this author. While I think she is a good writer she didn't keep my attention and it seemed slow. I like all the characters. The setting is good. The narration is good. It just didn't grab my attention. I think I may have become tainted by so many fast action type books and chick lit usually moves fast. At the time I purchased this one I purchased The Beach House also....I am going to wait awhile to try it.

    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
An extraordinarily beautiful Amish woman, a dangerous femme fatale, is the central figure in Linda Castillo's Her Last Breath, a story that reveals a dark side of Painter's Mill and its seemingly perfect Amish world.
A rainy night, an Amish father returning home with his three children, a speeding car hurtling toward them out of nowhere.
What at first seems like a tragic, but routine car accident suddenly takes on a more sinister cast as evidence emerges that nothing about the crash is accidental. But who would want to kill an Amish deacon and two of his children? He leaves behind a grieving widow and a young boy who clings to life in the intensive care wing of a hospital, unable to communicate. He may be the only one who knows what happened that night. Desperate to find out who killed her best friends husband and why, Kate begins to suspect she is not looking for a reckless drunk, but instead is on the trail of a cold blooded killer amid the residents of Painter's Mill. It is a search that takes her on a chilling journey into the darkest reaches of the human heart and makes her question everything she has ever believed about the Amish culture into which she was born.
    Critic Reviews:
"Bestseller Castillos fifth Amish thriller featuring Painters Mill, Ohio, police chief Katie Burkholder (after 2012s Gone Missing,/i>) is a stunner.... Castillo once again displays her mastery of edge-of-your seat suspense." (Publishers Weekly)
    Members Reviews:
    Absolutely LOVE this series!
When a new Linda Castillo audio book comes out, I buy it immediately -- then 'save' it, for some time in the future when I need the distraction of what I know will be a really really good book. This is an awesome series, every one of them a work of art, worthy of listening to again and again.
That Linda Castillo has major talent is proved in the opening scene in "Her Last Breath". It starts with an absolutely horrific incident -- a car slams into an Amish horse-drawn wagon, killing two special needs children and their father. Another child barely clings to life lying in the ditch. It's a terrible scene, agonizing in every respect, exceptionally well told. After I finished the book, I went back and listened to that opening scene again. What I found was Castillo was able to convey the unspeakable horror of the whole thing without a bit of gore, no descriptions of blood or guts, no undue pandering to the more sanguinary aspects of the carnage. Instead, she conveyed what happened with small but meaningful symbols -- a child's shoe, the utter silence. What a talent! Lesser authors would have gone for the quick and easy route of talking about the oceans of blood, the screams of the dying.. that Castillo didn't says an awful lot about her talent.
The characters in the series are especially interesting -- Linda Burckholder, the oft-embattled police chief of tiny Painters Mill, OH, was herself born Amish. Now she comes back to her home town as a secular, single woman, no longer embracing the Amish way of life, and is forced to deal with all of the people who knew her back when, before she left the church. There's resentment, there's some admiration, a smidgen of envy on the part of a younger character or two, but whatever, every situation Burckholder encounters is tinged by the last -- hers, theirs, their old days together.

    narrator sounds like a robot
Would you try another book from Nancy Atherton and/or Teri Clark Linden?
Yes to Atherton, no to Linden
What didnt you like about Teri Clark Lindens performance?
Her pace and stiff pronunciation distract from the story. It's like listening to a robot.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The story is entertaining, the narrator ruined it.
    Not this narrator
I enjoy the Aunt Dimity books, but the first two I purchased from Audible.com were narrated by Christina Moore, who was excellent. This narrator, Teri Clark Linden, is highly irritating. She speaks exceedingly slowly, and often stops mid-phrase during narration for no reason that I can figure out. The only way I managed to finish listening to this book was to set the narrator speed to 1.5. I won't be buying anything else from this narrator.
Cannily good writing, warm-hearted, funny and fun.
    Any additional comments?
I love Nancy Atherton's books. Her writing is so transparently simple yet so well constructed (in the untraceable way only a good writer does) that the simplicity is sort of a disguise for actually very fine, clever writing and wit. I love the playfulness of the doings and plot moves. I love that some INTELLIGENT writers still write stories of playfulness and as if innocence is still an element in the human psyche instead of depending on the lure of horror, evil and socio-pathology to grab interest and sell books. What a relief. I love that she brings "magic" into her plots by means of a sometimes talking stuffed animal - - so ridiculous, outrageous that it's FUNNY . . . with vapors that it's maybe kinda' sorta' true considering the range and strange ways of intuition - - and of course, the redoubtable spirit of Aunt Dimity. Atherton has a delightful imagination. Grown-ups need magic and imagination too! And within the play of her stories are love AND some deeper wisdoms and insights delivered no less truly for being rendered with a light hand.
    Horrible performance
I can't understand why this was allowed to happen. Another reviewer said it was like a robot... Exactly my thought. It was like a computer. Miserable. Why so slow and over enunciated?
    Read by a robot????
Live the story but audio is horrible. Would not recommend audio but do recommend reafing the book.

    Cliche Storyline With One-Dimensional Characters
The narrator was the only good part of this book. I'll sum up the story (spoiler alert):
First Third of Story: "Woe is me. I'm a type A personality with no close friends or family. My work is everything because I have not met Mr. Right."
Second Third of Story: "I met Mr. Right. There is not one damn thing wrong with him. He is generous, kind, loyal; he makes his own delicious wine and takes care of his oh-so-adorable kids (who overcome my normal distaste for kids) and of course he is instantly in love with me. He is gorgeous and charming and adopts dogs from the shelter. But woe is me. I can't let myself be vulnerable to such an amazing, perfect person. I was so scarred by growing up without a father that of course I never learned as a grown woman to have meaningful adult relationships. Oh - and I found out I have a sister who is also as perfect and as one-dimensional as the man I met."
Final Third: Yay! I have a sister and a boyfriend and I've improved my relationship with my mother. I learned that I can love! I also happened upon $20 million and so I can live happily ever after. Whoopie!"
The only interesting part of this book - which likely consisted of maybe 20 pages - was when the story flashed back to the Danish resistance to German occupation in World War II.
The author also fails to even close some sub-plots, like what happened to the sister when she left for college, why she is so worried about the outside world and how Dominick tried to "save" her.
Poorly written, flat and unrealistic storyline.

    Not Allende's Usual Standard
I usually love Allende's novels and was eager to listen to her latest work. It's okay, but it certainly doesn't match her usual standard. The story just isn't that interesting, and I'm surprised that she produced something so predictable and average. Maya's Notebook has received rave reviews on Amazon, and I'm left wondering what they read that I didn't. Dull and disappointing.
    Narrator ruins this book
Would you try another book from Isabel Allende and/or Maria Cabezas?
Not an audible book, but in paper, I may. Though not for a while.
How could the performance have been better?
    To start with another narrator
    Any additional comments?
I wanted to like this book because I wanted to read something else then thrillers and detectives. I read several books of Isabel Allende and I always enjoyed them. The narration of this book was so disgusting that I missed the whole story. The only thing I could hear after half an hour was this dreadful monotonous voice. Every sentence the same, ending in the same low pitch. The story itself seemed boring as well but I could not really tell.
Don't read this is my advice.
Beautiful writing, beautiful narration, good story
What did you love best about Maya's Notebook?
The writing is simply superb and the narrator's voice brings it alive - so lovely to listen to. The "double" story line is also very interesting - the life of a drug addict and the life of recovery in Chili. Very interesting and the weaving of the two works very nicely - it keeps it interesting and is not hard to follow. I also really enjoyed learning a bit of Chili's checkered past.
    Allende
loved this! I have always enjoyed Allende 's books and her writing...especially when she writes about Chile. she captures the times, the flavor and the sights.
    Stellar
Excellent narration of a fascinating tale, combining history, underworld crime, and strong family connections. I would listen again.

More Real City Life Captured by Maupin
Maupin hits stride in his second book with Mary Ann, the archetypal young single woman, continuing to loosen up in San Francisco in the seventies with the help of the residents of the Barbary Lane including the gay but fretful Michael, the slightly lost Mona, the carnally hungry Brian, and the extremely well adjusted but mysterious Anna Madrigal. These characters, their lovers, and friends make for a most realistic, funny, and charming portrait of gay and straight life in the seventies in San Francisco. The overall plot involving a nice guy with serious enigmatic phobias is the least reason for enjoying these books. The real reason to enjoy these books is to see the various character's lives intersect in the most unexpected ways and for them to treat each other with all the respect, dignity, and kindness that nice people of any sort deserve. (which excludes the dastardly Beachamp Day) The narration by Cynthia Nixon is the best so far. (I've heard four of these books now.) Nixon's tender voice is an excellent match for the gentle souls of this series. She reads with the perfect blend of narration and acting skills. Rachel Maddow's (oh and that's... "sweet but all-too-short") preface hits just the right note for this ground-breaking series that, rightly, treats being gay as a perfectly normal preference given to some people at birth. If you are considering this, be sure to buy the first book "Tales of the City" first. The whole thing makes far more sense when experienced in order. Not recommended for the close-minded or prudish with lots of frank sexual discussion.
    more from the culture wars
Armistead writes and his troop marches on through the tricky waters of the 70's Although written with humorous insight and wit, some of the pop culture references may be lost on less savvy younger readers
    Delightful!
I like the depth of the characters and the exciting storyline. I love hearing about San Francisco.
    Doesn't Disappoint
Superb performance and riveting to the end. The characters become your extended family, and you don't want to leave 28 Barbary Lane.

    Too close to the formula
My daughter has exposed me to new types of literature in the last three years; both in audio as well as written form. One of these is lesbian fiction. Some of these works are excellent and I've enjoyed listening to them and discussing them with her. I thought for a time that this would be one of the most positive experiences in the genre. Then began the whole lack of communication leading to misunderstandings; insecurities boil over and the whole why would she want me angst and I was soon searching for a diversion until some sort of resolution was finally reached. In the end I gave it three stars due the protracted playing out of the drama that seriously detracted a great deal from this audiobook. Because while I liked the characters almost universally; the long contrived pseudo romantic dance became too tiresome and managed to pull down the rest of the work.
    Hot hot hot
Who weeeeee - that Georgia Beers is a writing ass! I mean the intricate ins and outs of relationships and the deep in depth emotional roller coaster of feelings is absolutely the best ever!! Keep on writing Ms Beers you da best! That Abby is a reading ass -- she could read the phone book and make it sound good! Keep on reading!! A+++ great read!
    Love it
I've never heard of Georgia Beers before. I looked at the other reviews and agree this is a good book. The relationship between Gretchen and Kylie is not rushed and is realistic loved that. Also liked the woman where around my age. I enjoyed this book. Also Abby is my favorite narrator. Every book I've bought with her has been wonderful.

I am a Georgia Beers fan, I have read several of her books and enjoyed them immensely. That is probably why I was so disappointed in this read. The characters didn't develop fully for me, mostly coming across as one-dimensional, self-centered and not very likable. I wasn't sure which pairing I was supposed to be rooting for, with the one semi-sympathetic character losing in the end in more ways than one.
But the greatest distraction for me was the narration. The deeper or masculine voices were done with a weird, scratchy affect that ended up sounding like Danny from the Shining saying "redrum." Lines that seemed to be part of a normal conversation were delivered with tones of anger or seduction that threw off the whole story.

Amanda is bored with life. She spends hours a day on Facebook, her parents act like they are too ancient to enjoy life any longer, and her military husband, Ralph, is deployed to Afghanistan. Gideon is not totally content at home either. His wife, Nina, is a lifetime overachiever and a workaholic. She has moved her mother into their home so she can have a live-in sitter, and Gideon has fallen to the bottom of her priority list. On Black Friday 2012, both Amanda and Gideon end up at a Best Buy to take advantage of the massive price cuts on electronics. When the store opens its door at midnight, the potential customers rush the glass doors and end up in a brawl. Built-up excitement turns into mass pandemonium as the police show up in riot gear. Tear gas containers are being tossed around like lollipops and strangers are beating on each other like a heavyweight fight at the MGM Grand in Vegas.
Amanda and Gideon both end up in the skywalk overlooking the madness and, even though they are complete strangers to each other, the adrenaline rush overwhelms them and they discover quick ecstasy among the chaos. After putting their clothes back on, followed by making formal introductions, they embark on a sexual journey together that re-ignites the flames in their souls. Both are forced to make choices that they never thought would have to be made; marriages are placed at risk; heartbreak is inevitable. What starts out merely as casual sex becomes much more than mere physical attraction and their lives begin to unravel. No matter how incredible something wrong can make one feel, eventually, Everything Fades Away.
