    v good book
Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary is just a delightful book. It is a fun and light read. I enjoyed listening to it. Tracie Bennett did a remarkable job in giving voice to Bridget. I love her narration.
    I will always love this!
I read Bridget Jones's Diary quite a while back and decided to give it a re-read last week, but this time I wanted to give it a listen so I could enjoy my long walks and work commute. I have to say it was a great decision.
Tracie Bennett was a charming and funny narrator for the story and she gave Bridget life in my brain. She seemed very into the story and the role while reading, which made the experience of listening to her very entertaining. Will definitely see if she's the narrator to The Edge of Reason to give it a listen.
    Fantastic. Shame it's abridged...
July 15th. Just finished listening to Bridget Jones' Diary. As a result, I will:
1, Declare Tracie Bennett to be new goddess of narration and will erect shrine in dedication to awesome talents in bedroom.
    I Will Not:
    1. Listen to audio books narrated by perverts, morons, or the overly verbose.
    2. Eat more than 2000 calories per day.
    3. Keep this bloody shrine in bedroom. It's a monstrosity and the dogs keep peeing on glossy picture of Tracie. Thank god it's laminated!
    4. Looking at empty box of Maltesers on floor... I'll work on #2 tomorrow.
My only criticisms is that the whole book is on just one file, which means if you want to listen to it in bed and you're going to sleep, the book'll play the entire file. It would be lovely to have the file divided up into a number of easily manageable parts...
    Great!!!
I love Bridget Jones, it is so funny, as well as dramatic and romantic. However, it is a shame that only an abridged version is available!
    bad narration
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
    Narrated better
What could Helen Fielding have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
    Nothing
How could the performance have been better?
    Narrated better
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    Disappointment
    Any additional comments?
Only listened to about 10 mins, disappointed in the narrator's reading of the story.

    cute story
This isn't by far one of the best stories I have read/heard, but it's not one of the worst either. It's a cute story about love but nothing out of the ordinary or special...just cute.
    drama!
There was so much drama, sometimes I wanted to kick the main character, but it was truly a story after Gods own heart.
I have read many books but this Is of my favorite
I read this book about 20 years ago and this is one of my favorites I tell all my My family and friends about this book is the best thing I've ever read Other than my Bible
we are weak, but He is strong
What did you love best about A Lova' Like No Otha'?
while reading (listening) is fun and relaxing, I find many life lessons in the inspirational genre. lessons taught and learned as a christain are examplified and reestablished. listening gives u a chance to reexamine some behaviors and oftentimes awakens our relationship with our Higher Power
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Lova' Like No Otha'?
friends and family can give good advice, but if we are not ready or receptive it
will fall on deaf ears. it is only when we have spiraled, many times, that their advice or concerns are remembered. good example the hotel scene and temptation.
What does Susan Spain bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
reverbarations. for me i will hear only my own voice and reasoning of what i've read. listening allows me to HEAR what is written and what is said and the power behind what is said
Who was the most memorable character of A Lova' Like No Otha' and why?
Chase, he showed that difficult to live within the confines of your faith, it can be done. and oh what rewards await us.
    Loved it
Roller coaster ride with ups and downs & drama. Great romance novel guided by God's words. Love it

can I give it zero stars?
This is quite simply, the worst book I have ever listened to -- I presumed, given the title, that it would be charming and clever and engaging. In short, it wasn't. The characters were without any believable basis, the plot was ridiculous, and the situations were implausible.
Don't waste your time. There's plenty of "single gal figures it out" fiction out there that's well-conceived, well-written, and well-read. Skip this one.
    False advertising
Don't waste your money on this book. The author was tyring to get those of us who grew up on clean, wholesome, Nancy Drew to think we were getting more of the same. Instead we're getting a potty-mouthed protagonist who confuses sex with her bosses as love. Do NOT waste your time, $$, or credits on this book.
    Worst Ive ever read/heard
This has got to be the most poorly written book Ive ever listened to (or read). Add to that a sub par narration, and youve almost got a comedy...if it just wasnt so hard to listen to.
I dare anybody to compliment this book. Seriously...I dare you!
    Irresponsible and Ridiculous
This character is shallow and stupid. Her "growth" is hollow and limited. The depiction of the relationship that ends up with her "in love" is not believable.
The narrator's male voices need work.
    I loved Nancy Drew
As a kid I read every Nancy Drew I could get my hands on. That's why I chose this book. I found it to be juvenile. Really kind of stupid. Maybe that's how it was intended.

    I loved this book!
I absolutely loved this book. The story is written in a witty and refreshing manner, yet explores complex human relationships and choices in a thought-provoking way. The narrator was a little loud to begin with, but I managed to ease into her style really quickly, and thought she told the story very well.
    Entertaining
I don't typically read chic lit but this was great distraction to listen to while doing mundane chores and overall more entertaining than radio while driving.
    Delightful
Wonderful narration. Engaging characters. A delight all around.
    FABULOUS!
a charming and addictive story. wonderful character development, beautifully narrated, wonderful dialogue. a new favorite.
    Very entertaining!

As Vida begins teaching her signature book, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, a tale of an ostracized woman and social injustice, its themes begin to echo eerily in her own life. Peter sees that the mother he perceived as indomitable is collapsing, and it is up to him to help.
The English Teacher is a passionate tale of a mother and son's vital bond and a provocative look at our notions of intimacy, honesty, loyalty, family, and the real meaning of home.
    Critic Reviews:
"King writes with subtle clarity, displaying an intuitive understanding of the vulnerable psyches of teenagers, and with pinpoint perception of her characters' inner lives." (Booklist
    Members Reviews:
    Disappointing
While the boy is well drawn, the English teacher (Vida)herself is a figure manipulated by the author to fit her plan, rather than being a rounded, convincing character. The parallel to Tess is forced and heavy-handed, as is the metaphor of the Iran hostage situation. Because Vida's actions are not fictionally justified, it is difficult to maintain interest in her or empathy for her. This novel needed another revision before being published.
    Beautifully written
A wonderful story with complex characters. I didn't want it to end! Love this author!
If you escape by reading, beware
First the image is of another book, confusing and annoying. The book itself was great with sneaky layers

    Enthusiastic Applause!
This is brilliantly funny and brilliantly read by the author. I enjoyed literally every minute and will return for repeated listenings -- an attraction which sets this work above most of its companions in the humor genre.
    Entertaining and very witty
A simple plot with some brilliant characters. Sandi Toksvig's sarcastic humour made me laugh out loud throughout this book. Very cleverly written and wonderfully narrated.
    Pleasant beach/holiday read
This book is a pleasant beach/holiday read. It is not a masterpiece, but it is entertaining if you are not looking for anything to be taken too seriously. All in all it kept me company.

    Agonizing
Great Story... but the narration made me want to jump off a building. I will never, ever listen to an audiobook narrated by this girl again. It was awful. It was like listening to a Middle School Special Ed student reading the book. Her voice was insanely expressionless and annoying (I don't even have the vocabulary to express how much I hate her voice), but that wasn't all. She actually changed the meaning of some phrases by reading them incorrectly (read the phrase "threw away my Dead t-shirts," to sound as though she threw away t-shirts that were no longer living, rather than t-shirts that advertised the band, Grateful Dead), and she was actually unable to read some of the words! One example that stands out in my mind is when she said that a table "compromised" of a group of people, instead of reading the word "comprised." It was like she didn't even read the book before she entered the studio to read it aloud. Horrible. Buy the book and read it yourself... you will enjoy it so much more.
    Ok story ... AWESOME narration.
It's Eliza Dushku's reading that makes this book. In another's voice the story and its heroine might have come off naive and implausible. But Eliza's reading is dead-on, making the listener feel like a friend is confiding in them. It's a fun book perfect for listening with a hot tea on a cold winter's day.
Much better than her first book
I was disappointed after reading the Devil Wears Prada, so I came in with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised because it is so much better than her first work. The heroine has more depth to her and while she may work in a PR firm, the characters are not as one dimensional and fake as her other book. I finished it in one night and am definitely recommending it to others
    Tolerable
When I want chick lit, I want something that doesn't get too emotional. This book fits the bill. Entertaining enough - not my favorite chick lit, but not a bad storyline. There are a couple of lovable characters.
