    Publisher's Summary:
Bren's brother Curtis isn't pleased to have to make allowances for the English blow-in, while his mother, Hilary, finds it hard to relinquish her hold on Amaroo. And then there's talented country singer Nova Morrison, who resents Vanessa's beauty and charm. Vanessa succeeds in balancing her acting career with her new life in the outback, but when a family secret threatens to destroy everything she's grown to love, she must face her greatest challenge yet.
    Editorial Reviews:
Renowned English stage and film actress Vanessa Forsythe didn't see herself relocating to Australia to become a mistress at a cattle station, but that's exactly what happens after she falls head-over-heels with handsome station owner Bren Selby in Lynne Wilding's engrossing Outback Sunset.
Life on the ranch isn't quite as idyllic as Vanessa had envisioned, and Kate Hood's adroit, emotionally charged performance captures the adversity she faces, from dealing with resentful in-laws jealous of her success to uncovering dark family secrets that surface in unexpected ways.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    Great story line
Have you listened to any of Kate Hoods other performances before? How does this one compare?
Kate Hood is my Fav narrator she makes the story come to life
    hard to listen to
This one was really hard to listen to. The English accent and dialog really got on my nerves. It had a pretty good story line to it once you got into it though. But I was disppointed in the ending. It was rather long, but at the end it came to a quick conclusion. I wish the author had a least had a epilog to the ending, that would have helped.

    Publisher's Summary:
When obsessed pet owners have pooches or kitties they want immortalized on canvas, Kate Disney is the artist of choice. From her shed (which doubles as a studio and apartment) in London's Primrose Hill, Kate caters to the whims of the rich and famous while herself living a decidedly bohemian existence. The problem is, she has a tendency to cater to her on-again, way-off-again boyfriend as well. Jake is so erratic, that most of her friends don't understand why she even bothers. But it's hard to fall out of love with a man who writes her songs and calls her "Angel", even if he disappears for weeks at a time.
Luckily for Kate, Mirabelle Moncur isn't buying any of that claptrap. Mirri was an actress, a legend in her time. Now, at age 60, she's given up on fame and men and lives in Africa, where she raises lion cubs. But her reclusive nature has done nothing to dull her beauty, mar her incredible figure, or dampen her outrageous joie de vivre.
After sweeping into London to have Kate paint a portrait of her favorite cub, Mirri seizes hold of Kate's life, from the baggy wardrobe to the hopeless taste in men. Under Mirri's tutelage, Kate learns to dance on tables with abandon, drink like a dockworker, and flirt like a goddess. And when her old friend Louis reenters the picture, she begins to see things in a whole new light. But Mirri has secrets that hint at a less than divine future. Now it's Kate's turn to teach Mirri a thing or two about life, love, and being fabulous.

    Keep Them coming
I savored every minute of this book. The writing is so well done and the reader is wonderful. I wanted to live in this world and meet these people. Mind you it is strictly for fun and quite a good escape. Ms. Naylor knows how to keep descriptions interesting and short to keep the story moving. It is about relationships and stepping outside of normalcy. I'd love to hear more by this author.
    A fun listen.
I thought the narrator did an excellent job. She brought the whole book to life for me. I would not have enjoyed the book half as much had it not been an audio book. Had I been reading the book, I would never have done the French accent in my head. I found the characters to be enjoyable and entertaining. I will probably re-listen to the entire book again someday.
    Dragged on,..
I had to struggle to get through this book.
As a previous reviewer has said, the narrator got one character "spot on", but the rest were carbon copies. One for male, one for female.
The whole book felt like it was written under a deadline and needed to "filled in" rather than having any story to tell.
Young artist struggling to find love
Really enjoyed the relationship that developed between the young artist and the older actress - athough they are at different points in their journeys, their life lessons corresponded perfectly and made for a good read. Was inspiring and uplifting without being too forced or simply achived.
    Worth All The Stars!
I've just finished this book and thought it was terrific. Well paced with enough peaks and valleys for the characters. This author gave you enough to keep you entertained with an intelligent well thought out story.

    Language: English
    Release date: 12-16-04
    Publisher: Books on Tape

    Genres: Fiction, Chick Lit
    Publisher's Summary:
On the eve of World War I, Assistant Secretary of the Navy Franklin Delano Roosevelt, fiercely ambitious and still untouched by polio, falls in love with his wife's social secretary, Lucy Mercer. Eleanor stumbles on their letters and divorce is discussed, but honor and ambition win out. Franklin promises he will never see Lucy again.
But Franklin and Lucy do meet again, and again they fall in love. As he prepares to run for an unprecedented third term and lead America into war, Franklin turns to Lucy for the warmth and unconditional approval Eleanor is unable to give.
Ellen Feldman brings a novelist's insight to bear on the connection of these three compelling characters. Drawing on recently discovered materials to re-create the voice of a woman who played a crucial but silent role in the Roosevelt presidency, Lucy is a remarkably sensitive exploration of the private lives behind a public marriage.
    Critic Reviews:
"Feldman humanizes two icons....With Lucy, [Feldman] has created a Whartonesque heroine: an intelligent and perceptive woman stymied by the social restrictions of her time." (Booklist)

I found this book fascinating and very worthwhile. It felt like you were right in the room witnessing everything that went on between these two people, Lucy and Franklin. I learned alot about that era of history at the same time. Beautiful book and beautifully read.

    Publisher's Summary:
Lurching from the cappuccino bars of Notting Hill to the blissed-out shores of Thailand, searching for The Truth in spite of pathetically unevolved men, insane dating theories, and Smug Married advice, Bridget experiences a zeitgeist-esque Spiritual Epiphany somewhere between the pages of How to Find the Love You Want Without Seeking It, protective custody, and a lightly chilled Chardonnay. With another devastatingly hilarious, ridiculous, unnervingly accurate take on modern womanhood, Bridget Jones is back.
    Critic Reviews:
"As funny as Monty Python on estrogen...a laugh-out-loud audiobook." (AudioFile)

    More Marvelous stuff
I *loved* Bridget Jones. Hilarious, heartwarming stuff. It's pretty hard to follow that up. This is quite good as sequels go, and is definitely worth it to hear more about Bridget and her insecurities. The reading is superb--each character not only sounds totally different, but completely embodies who the character is as well.
Better book to read than listen to
My concept of Bridget's voice is shaped by Renee Zellweger in the movie. This narrator is really painful to listen to. I don't like her voice at all and some of the characters were brutal with how loud she was. I almost didn't finish listening to it but if you liked "Diary" you'll like this as well.
Lesson learned - listen to a snippet before purchasing. The narrator's voice and inflections are major drawbacks if they are annoying. So read the book instead!
    Couldn't Finish
I have a folder in my Audible Manager called "did not finish." That's where this book ended up. I didn't care for the narrator at all, and found the story rather boring.
    Shrill
I don't know how anyone could sit through this audiobook. The narrator is horrible. She's mumbling one minute and shrieking the next. I've tried to listen to it a few times now and cannot get through more than five or ten minutes.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Where does Bridget Jones rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    Middle
What did you like best about this story?
Great followup to the first book
Have you listened to any of Tracie Bennetts other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, the first Bridget Jones and it was fantastic!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    No
    Any additional comments?
A great series of books. Didn't care for the third one but one and two were fantastic

    Slow start but great finish
I love how the story was outlined. It was slow going at the start, and it got to a point where it got quite boring, but it totally redeemed itself towards the end.
Dan got depressed to the point of being suicidal after his daughter's death and his wife's aloofness and separation. His wife's realization of her destructive behavior came in the aftermath of a wrong turn. For Dan it took an intervention from a world beyond to snap him back and resolve to do right.
Great read, and will most likely make a great movie as well. Will look for other books by this author.
    Easily Put Down
Confusing book. Doesn't explain very much until you have read through half the book. Easily put down. Someone is writing a letter to someone named Sam, and someone else wakes up and doesn't know who he is. This goes on and on and on, switching back and forth. Finally, you figure it out, but you really don't care after what seems like a lot of wasted time.

    Enoyable break
I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It was funny in all the right places and not too light. I have ordered some books for listening where I had that uncomfortable feeling down in the soles of my feet that I've done something terribly wrong. I didn't have to get through this book it was just want I wanted, intelligent, chik lit. Not too saccharine and the narrator had a pleasant well delivered voice. This is actually my second Astley book. I am partial to brit chik lit. Astley could do with a bit more sex or any would be nice.

    Awful Performance!
The story is less than average. I gave it 2 stars because maybe somehow somewhere it becomes interesting enough to listen. But what is really terrible is the narrator. The tone is flat. The voice is disagreeable! It makes it impossible to fallow the thread of the plot.
I could not finish the book, I did try like 3 times but I just could not.
So I am very sorry to say but it was an overall 0 star.
    A real page turner!
Once I started the book I didn't want it to end. A story well written.
    No Again

    could not listen to it.

    Any additional comments?
The writing is very funny, but the plot didn't hold my attention. I've tried listening to this over and over for months, and I end up daydreaming, then eventually turn it off. I finally just gave up and am looking for a new book.

sit back, relax and be taken on a warm, boat holiday with lovely heroine, Elle.
I have never read a Sue Moorcroft book before and now I canât wait to get my grubby mitts on them all. The Wedding Proposal is so confidently written that the reader can just sit back, relax and be taken on a warm, boat holiday with lovely heroine, Elle.
Elle has never been able to do enough to win over her parentsâ affection. After marrying young and badly she buried herself in her work, until she met handsome Lucas. But that went badly too. Now, four difficult years later, Elle has been made redundant and a well-meaning but meddling friend has leant her his boat in Malta for the summer while she volunteers for a local childrenâs centre. But thereâs another passenger on boardâLucas.
Can Elle and Lucas co-exist without dreading up past hurts and opening wounds? Can Elle ignore the disappointment in her heart when Lucasâs girlfriend shows up? And will life as a volunteer be as easy as she was hoping?
As charming and sexy as Lucas is, my real crush was on Elle. I loved her. I wanted to go out for a few chilled glasses of white wine on the marina with her and have a giggle. Sheâs a straight-laced gal and finds trusting difficult but has a heart of gold and a fun side that can be tempted out if she can forget her past hurts. And escaping with her to gorgeous sunny Malta was the perfect remedy for living in cold, rainy Yorkshire. Gorgeous.
Review by Nikki Mason on behalf of BestChickLit.com
    Holiday Perfection.
Sun, chilled wine, salmon & prawns poolside + Sue Moorcroftâs, âThe Wedding Proposalâ, = holiday perfection. I tweeted this while away â and I meant it. As a busy person, desperately in need of a restful break (arenât we all?), I would have been seriously peeved if this book hadnât delivered. It did, totally. I was transported from Portugal to Malta in a flash and have to congratulate the author on exactly the right attention to detail, painting an atmospheric, believable backdrop to the story. From the yachts bobbing lazily in the sun-drenched port, to the sun-scorched, dusty Maltese backstreets, I was there.
To the story, which actually turns around a proposal past and a wedding that never came to fruition, Four years on, thanks to a well-meaning uncle playing cupid, the couple are thrown together again, each having left their lives behind to build new ones on, of all confined places, a yacht, gorgeously named, The Shady Lady. For Elle, recovery from the painful relationship gone wrong meant throwing herself into her well-paid IT job. Made redundant, sheâs there to put her IT skills to use for free, volunteering to help the underprivileged children of Malta, and never in her wildest dreams did her future plans include Lucas.
