    Publisher's Summary:
The delicious new romantic novel: now a No. 2 Sunday Times hardback bestseller
When Josh Strachan, newly returned to his home in north Cornwall from sunny California, first meets Sophie Wells, he's immediately smitten.
Sophie's pretty, she's funny, she has lots of friends, and she clearly loves her job as a photographer, despite the sometimes tricky clients. There's just one problem: Sophie has very firmly turned her back on love.
It's nothing personal, she tells Josh, but she just doesn't do dates. And no one - even Sophie's scatty best friend Tula - will tell him why.
Josh is sure Sophie likes him, though, and he's just got to find out what's put her off romance. And then put things right....

    nice heartwarming story
the narrator is FANTASTIC! The book isn't one of Mansell's best bit a good read.
    Couldn't put it down
Who was your favorite character and why?
Josh - he was just lovely
Which character as performed by Jane Collingwood was your favorite?
She did a great job with all of the characters
    Any additional comments?
This is a great story and a very easy listen. It had a dew twists that I didn't predict. I was sad when it finished because I enjoyed it so much
    Great as always
Great read - Sophie is a photographer and has moved to Cornwall to set up her own business. She catches the eye of Josh who co-owns a local hotel with his grandmother Dot. Sophie however has vowed to stay away from relationships ie Josh to which I had to find out why!!
Then there is Sophies best friend Tula, Joshs fun loving friend Riley, Dot and her ex-husband Lawrence, and local author Marguerite. All have their own sub-plots and dramas which are perfectly woven throughout the story.
    Its an enjoyable read/listen to
    Pleasant, relaxing read/listen.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes it was. It took me a little while to get into (not sure if that was me, or the book). When I did though, I found it to be a really pleasant story with very likeable, well drawn characters. Its a perfect holiday read.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jill Mansell? Why or why not?
Yes, I look forward to it.
What does Jane Collingwood bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
I don't know, but she narrated it beautifully.
    Hugely enjoyable chick lit
Yes it is predictable, cliche ridden chick lit, but if you fancy an escapist listen with a seaside setting this is perfect. Of course, I knew where the story was going from the beginning but there were a couple of surprises along the way and this was a very easy and enjoyable listen with likeable characters. This is the first time I have listened to Jane Collingwood narrate for many years. In the past I have found her tone rather grating but I thought she narrated this book perfectly with excellent differentiation between all the characters.

    Publisher's Summary:
Sometimes, the hardest part of finding love is keeping a straight face....
For Jamie Newman, being a single guy isn't proving to be much fun, especially when confronted with a sexually belligerent divorcee and a goddess so far out of his league she might as well be a different species.
Mind you, being a girl in search of love isn't a bowl of cherries either. Just ask Laura McIntyre, who's recently contended with a horny estate agent on a quest for light relief and a rabid mountain bike enthusiast with a penchant for lycra that leaves little to the imagination.
When Jamie and Laura bump into one another (quite literally) it looks like their luck may have changed - but sometimes finding the right person is only the start of your problems....
Love... From Both Sides is a warts-and-all romantic comedy for everyone who knows how tricky the quest for love can be.

    "I'm all out of Love"
What did you like best about Airs and Graces? What did you like least?
I enjoyed the character Hermione best. She made me smile and laugh. What I liked least about the story is that most of the characters are forgettable.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting aspect of this story was (again) Hermione. She was clever, humorous, thoughtful, admittedly selfish at times, but lovingly warm, caring and nurturing. This was evident in those who surrounded her and practically every character did. The least interesting aspect of the story was that the main character never developed a strong sense of who she was or what she wanted in life. She literally wavered the entire story (even at the conclusion).
Did Charlotte Strevens do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
The narrator did a good job. Each character had their own distinct voice.
Could you see Airs and Graces being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I suppose it could be, but I would not be a viewer as the characters are not memorable. (With the exception of Hermione and Bernie. Bonkers and Suzi were a nice side story too. Nothing to make a tv series or movie about, but a nice distraction.) See additional comments.
    Any additional comments?
I would have enjoyed the story more if the characters had something that was bold about them. For example, Hermione was memorable. She was strong, knowledgable and fierce in her own way. If Hermione were removed from the story, the book would fall apart. Both Duncan and Matthew could come and go and nothing about the story would change. Duncan was not portrayed as desirable or even wanted, but needed. Matthew seemed to be thrown in as a distraction for Ellen or the go-to guy if things didn't work out. And I honestly believe Simon was an afterthought.

When twenty-seven year old Roxy Rule's best friend and roommate accepts a glamorous new job overseas, she expects their relationship to continue as it's always been - carefree and easy - until they share a heart-stopping kiss. While Ollie escapes to jolly ole England to live out his dream and save the planet with green architecture, Roxy is stuck in New York City working for a boss who makes her want to stab herself with a letter opener. She can't bear to think about her own big-city dream of being a chef anymore. Over the years, her passion for food has only resulted in extra pounds and a staggering credit card balance for fancy kitchen equipment that she barely has time to use. Still, Roxy's sure that nothing can come between two lifelong best friends - not even mild jealousy over a thriving career or a silly little kiss that meant nothing.
In fact, it was such a meaningless and forgettable kiss that it's not worth mentioning to her fiance not that he would even listen - all they do these days is argue about their upcoming wedding. Roxy is faced with an unexpected family reunion when her younger sister Steffi arrives on her doorstep, six months into a pregnancy she refuses to discuss. When older sister Izzie - in the throes of a premature midlife crisis - joins them, she's determined to crack the case of Steffi's impending motherhood.
With the Rule sisters living under the same roof again, Roxy's quiet little apartment in the city is about to be anything but peaceful. Roxy soon discovers that her seemingly idyllic relationship with Ollie started getting complicated way before he left for London. She must come to terms with her feelings for him, learn to stand up for herself and go after what she really wants. Breaking the Rules is the story of what happens when you have to redefine the rules of love, friendship and family in order to find yourself.

    Great chick lit!
    First thoughts after.....
hmmm this is a toughie. There were things I loved, things I liked and things I wasn't happy with. Also there's things I still want to know! Well done Cat!
    How distracted did I get??
Breaking the Rules is a strangely addictive read. Roxy is fun but I wanted to jerk a knot in her noggin quite a bit. This story has a lot of quirky secondary characters including 2 men to love...or hate...depends how you look at it. Izzie drove me bananas! I'm thankful neither of my sisters are like her! LOL I was so wrapped up in the story I didn't realize it was 12:30 am. Breaking the Rules is Chick Lit with a twist. A definite for Chick Lit readers!
    I give Breaking the Rules....
    4.5 baskets
    Great read!
    *Warning! Contains spoilers.*
This was an enjoyable and surprising read, for sure, though I had some issues with the main character, Roxy. I could relate to her on many levels, but often found myself scratching my head at her behavior. First, she didnât seem at all compatible with her fiancé, Ethan. Roxyâs non-confrontational, people pleaser personality was one that I could identify with, but her relationship with Ethan just didnât make any sense to me. He was very controlling and rarely supportive. Not that he was a bad person, necessarily. I think he loved Roxy in his own way, but I didnât understand this relationship. Roxy frequently mentions how much she loves him and wants to make things work with him, and yet behaves in ways that donât show it.

Review: I found this book to be really compelling from the outset and actually read this alongside my mum so we could discuss it and predict what was going to happen next. I actually find the storyline to be quite shocking, how greedy people can be and how unaccepting of change too. It was something quite different to the storylines I usually experience and that was definitely a good thing for me. In terms of pace, it was a bit of a rollercoater, sometimes moving super quick and being a real page turner, but there were other moments where it seemed a little relative and that slowed it down for me a bit. Thankfully this all balanced out to give a good pace overall and entertained me over a couple of days.
I actually really didn't like the characters in this book. Now this didn't pose a problem to me because I still wanted to find out how they all fared and how each of their stories wrapped up, but I think it was obviously excellent story writing on the part of this author, to write character that I had such an aversion to, it's much better than being apathetic towards a character and have no feelings at all evoked! I found every member of the family involved in this book in Ireland to be greedy and selfish. They had passion and drive, but only if it bettered themselves and their aspirations of what a 'good life' should be. There was the daughter of the family who wasn't entirely dislikalble, but even she got my back up at points.
Abbey who travels from the states to Ireland, although not selfish, was rather bland. She seemed to have strong points of view on some things but seemed weak willed with other decisions she had to make. This inconsistency made me dislike her, but I had to find out what was going to happen to her. Her mother had a similar character. She has some secrets herself which make for interesting reading, but overall she was just a bit too wishy washy for me. Do not fear though because there is a rather hunky Irish lawyer in the novel who was worth reading on for. He was really fun to read and I was rooting for good things to happen the entire way through.
I really enjoyed the dual setting of Ireland and San Francisco, although the description of Ireland was a little less than I was hoping for, perhaps there were more scenes in San Francisco initially that were cut out and so that is why they are both described less than expected. Overall I definitely enjoyed reading this book and fans of Sheila O'Flanagan won't be disappointed.

Claire Cook does it again - a perfect summer read
I love Claire Cook and this book was no exception, she is the master of reinvention. This book was such a fun trip back down memory lane, I felt like I was riding along in the car with Mel and BJ as they got ready for their high school reunion. The only disappointing part about this book was when it ended. Some younger readers may not get some of the references, but if you are over 40, try to find yourself a 'Tab' and kick back for a great read.
Claire Cook does not let you down!
I have been a Claire Cook fan since I discovered she wrote Must Love Dogs. I have read all of her books and she has not let me down yet. Time Flies is true to her style--a warm hearted main character navigating life's twists and turns with style, grace and most of all humor. The story is about more than another wife left for the mid life crisis other woman by the "high school sweetheart" husband. It is about a woman coming into her own, discovering her life is not behind her but ahead of her. All she has to do is just overcome her fears and take that leap of faith. Claire takes the reader along for the ride. We get to meet some interesting people and enjoy some laugh out loud moments. I would have read it in one sitting if I didn't have to work for a living. Time Flies is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well paced story with relatable characters.
    Claire must be my age!
I enjoyed this book SO much. Reading it was like a walk down memory lane. When Melanie flashes back to High school, I swear it is me with the same memories, right down to the Yardley and the lipstick colors. I had every one she mentioned. As a grown woman with both phobias mentioned in the book, it was refreshing to read about the way these ladies (the same age as me) deal with them. I have the same elephant sitting on my chest! Love, love, love this book! Linda Hewitt (I have no idea why my son's name is on my Amazon review list) ;)
Buying much liked books at better cost
Claire Cook is one of my favorite authors. I have read this book twice, from the library.

    Sorry Katie not this time
I love Katie FFordes books does not matter if they are Audible paperbacks or Kindle but this one I found so completely boring have tried but cannot get past the first two chapters. Possibly the fact that Jilly Bond was the Narrater made it worse than it was. I think I have probably read most of Katie's books and enjoyed them
but doubt I will buy any more with
    Right book, wrong narrator
I have enjoyed reading all of Katie Fforde's books, her characters are always down to earth and likeable. I didn't experience the same enjoyment with this book, and that had a lot to do with the narrator's sing song voice. It was just too jolly hockey sticks for me and was very grating at times. I have listened to other books with the same narrator, and haven't noticed this before. Like the first reviewer, I wish I had purchased the paperback version instead.
    Love in the Antiques Trade
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
To be honest I don't think anything could, it would have to have been a different book with a different reader.
What was most disappointing about Katie Ffordes story?
This story must be judged by its own genre, i.e. romance. it is not one I often read. Other writers sometimes put in this group such as Elizabeth Buchan write more complex, general fiction on relationships. I had fond memories of Katie Ffordes early books, which included more flawed human heroines, and more realistic situations, interpretations and decision making. I found this very formulaic and predictable. Though Katie Fforde writes with facility and includes some interesting information about antiques.
What didnt you like about Jilly Bonds performance?
This is very much a matter of individual preference, but I found the narration irritatingly arch and hard to listen to.
What character would you cut from A French Affair?
    none
    Any additional comments?
Pleasant escapism if this is what you like.
loved the book but the reader!!
I enjoyed the book as I have all Katie Fforde's books but the readers voice grated on me especially when she attempted to do the different characters. It put me off listening to it and I bought the book!
It does what it says on the tin
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The male lead character needs more life and energy. He is very two-dimensional and there is no real spark between him and the female protagonist.

I was captivated from the very beginning
Fantastic! Alistair, Jessica, Michael and Hester are amazing characters and make it possible for this book to have an amazing lesson about love. Sylvia Day just wrote one of the best historical erotic romances of the year.
We follow the story of Alistair and Jessica since their very spicy moment before Jessica gets married and their re encounter after her husband's death.
At the same time we hear about Hester, Jessica's sister, and Michael's relationship. These secondary characters are so lovable! We fall in love with Alistair's charisma and charm - he's a rake after all- and also Jessica's strength and courage.
The final twist was a surprise and what I liked most about Seven Years To Sin is that it's never late to love and overcome our past. The author also approaches physical abuse towers women, what's their role in the society, their financial independence and the married life. All of them treated with honesty and truth.
The problems the hero and heroine have to go through are very real and the story is full of burning hot scenes. I would love, love, love to read more about Hester, and we might get it. If you've read it and feels the same way, show it! Speak up!
Imogen Church was fantastic with the delivery of the story.

I couldn't put this one down. What a beautiful story! Wonderfully narrated by Imogen, as always!
    Pleasant, enjoyable read/listen
Would you consider the audio edition of Seven Years to Sin to be better than the print version?
    N/A
Who was your favorite character and why?
All characters in this book are given equal attention to detail, resulting in you being able to relate to their characteristics. In particular the side story of Hester, the main characters sister allows different angles of enjoyment and keeps you wanting to know where the story is going. Hesters story, mixed with Jess` prevents the `historic` novel becoming predictable.
Have you listened to any of Imogen Churchs other performances? How does this one compare?
I am a new user of audible, so am yet to establish my personal preferences of performer/narrated. In my opinion, Imogens performance was pleasant and helped to focus on feelings and expressions. I enjoyed listening to her throughout the book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The harsh reality of Jess being Barron, and societies expectations, helps to set the scene beautifully. It was nice to have a read where there were no victims involved, no-one timid or with huge sob stories in their past.
