    Wonderful like always
Where does The Mischievous Bride rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This book is rank pretty high because I enjoy listening to this audio. The storyline keeps you interest in listening more about the story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite was Millie because you get to see how dreamy she is and how sassy she can get. She also stands behind what she believes in. She a courageous young lady.
What about Pearl Hewitts performance did you like?
For me I like how she did the other series audible and the fact it kept the same.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laugh with Millie antics or Marcus reactions to Millie antics.
    Any additional comments?
I would recommend this audible. Great to listen to and worth the money and time.
    Funny and heartwarming family story!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
First off I received a free copy from author for an honest review, that being said I loved this book and would recommend it to a friend. The characters are fun and memorable. This is one of my favorite regency series and it is the characters that make if so enjoyable.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mischievous Bride?
There are so many memorable moments, but I think my favorite is when Millie sets aside her own disappointment and focuses all her effort on helping Jane and Roderick after the loss of their baby. I love how she takes control of the situation, especially how she starts bossing Roderick around to keep him from being melancholy.
Have you listened to any of Pearl Hewitts other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I love Pearl Hewitt! She has narrated all of the Clearbook novels and I think that in this one she really came into her element. She has different voices for all the characters. I think I loved her narration so much due to the part where Millie gets drunk. She is hiccuping and burping and slurring her words and it sounds so real. That whole section made me laugh out loud.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think the part in the book that moved me the most was when Jane lost her baby and Millie insisted that they couldn't give up and how she forced them to stay positive thorough out the whole story.
    Didn't like the narrator
What would have made The Mischievous Bride better?
Because Milli comes across so young its hard to imagine that shes ready for love and marriage. I usually love May/December romances, but Millie wasn't what she needed to be. I liked Marcus.
    Any additional comments?
Pearl Hewitt created a very young Millie that was hard to listen to with its breathy airhead quality.

    The Family that got Away....
Jen was a lovable character however I kind of wished she had just minded her own buisness when it came to her inlaws. My family has never been that close either in real life, so I could see her longing for the bond of a larger friendly surroundings. Most ever family has something to hide in their closets, I just wish she had not chosen to look for the skeletons in the Masterson's closet. Jason was a boring dud and one of those people you just want to say
"WHAT was I thinking kinda thing?"
My thoughts is Jen knew her and Shaun were a better match then her and Jason at 1st glance.
The ending was a bitter sweet one I suppose?
Im still out to lunch on that one.
Penelope Rawlins did a 5 star narration on a 3star Jane Fallon written material.
It's not the best from Fallon I've read or listened too? I'd say its worth a credit on a rainy day.
    Official DeAnn DeVille review
    Writer" Blogger"Narrator
All families are dysfunctional. But some more so.
Skeletons is a non-violent, non-adventurous but very much character-driven story. Jen, after suffering from an absent father and no siblings during her childhood, very much adores her husbands large and warm family. They have two daughters, now both in college, and Jen muses about the void in their lives when she discovers her step-father in an ambiguous situation with a woman that is not her step-mother.
The whole story develops from here, and Jane Fallon manages to create a multi-faceted and likable character with Jen.The listener follows her doubts, decisions, thoughts and feelings throughout a story that is familiar to all of us, yet manages to draw one in.
Penelope Rawlins does a pretty good job narrating Jen's part of the story, but the other characters are done with way too much effort. Whenever Jen's husband Jason is talking I imagined Rawlings drawing her head back, chin in, to force "maleness" out of her box. Other characters are continuously excited, lamenting or breathless. It destroyed part of the charm that the book in written form surely has.
If you like "small stories", where people's interaction is what drives the plot, then this is a book for you. For you who expect really dark secrets (the proverbial bones) - non of it to be found here.
    Not my cup of tea!
What did you like best about Skeletons? What did you like least?
This is not my usual genre of book, but I thought it looked interesting. The storyline was okay to begin with and then I felt it became drawn out. Once the skeleton was uncovered I became bored, but persevered until the end as I wanted to know how it ended.
If youve listened to books by Jane Fallon before, how does this one compare?
No this is the first one.
What aspect of Penelope Rawlinss performance might you have changed?
Unfortunately I found the narrators 'voices' quite off putting.

At first, Manhattan financial planner Melanie Banks adores Dan Swain, her pro-football player husband who has a sexy Oklahoma drawl to go with his athletic good looks. But then his career comes to a screeching halt, and he spends the next few years out of a job, seemingly unconcerned about it. Suddenly, she's the one bringing home the bacon and falling out of love with the paycheck-devouring, couch-sitting mooch. Divorce is the answer, she decides - only to learn she has to fork over alimony while he lives like a prince on her income, and she has to share custody of their precious dog, Buster. Consumed with the unfairness of it all, she plays dirty, hiring a high-profile matchmaker to find some unsuspecting female she can dump on Dan for 90 days and cause him to violate their cohabitation clause.
But then Melanie's scheme backfires. Her ex's new love revitalizes him, miraculously transforming him into the focused, responsible go-getter she always hoped he'd be. And now, with the 90-day clock about to chime, she realizes she wants him back.

All the scenes with the assistant . I know the assistant is going to end up figuratively throwing her under the bus .

"This is a gorgeous book, witty, lyrical, and bursting with heart when you finish you will be smiling, wondering what happened next." (Gabrielle Donnelly, author of The Little Women Letters)
    Members Reviews:
    Painful to listen to
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Not a great read/listen the story is tired and the narrator is appalling, makes me wonder if she was in fact educated properly, it is truly amazing when she pronounced a word correctly, even common ones, hence my comment about education. So I would not recommend this to a friend or even to someone I didn't care for.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
That is part of the problem, most of the stories within the novel have been told often so nothing special in that case either, all very tired and no imagination. I hate to be so negative, but I really struggled to finish this book.
Would you be willing to try another one of Lucy-Jane Quinlans performances?
    Never
Do you think The Bookstore needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Finishing this one was painful enough, a follow up could be torture, especially with the same narrator.
    Breathtakingly badly read
Would you try another book written by Deborah Meyler or narrated by Lucy-Jane Quinlan?
Apparently the narrator of this story is not familiar with reading books with 'big words' as she mispronounced so many that I was cringing. Really, if you're going to employ someone to read books aloud as a job, you should at least ensure they're actually able to do it competently!
Was The Bookstore worth the listening time?
As for the story, it was okay: nothing breathtaking or challenging, and you could see what was coming a mile off. Still, it whiled away the time whilst I was decorating, and I wasn't too upset if I couldn't hear it all the time, as I could pick right back up again wherever the tale had got to.
All spoiled by the inept pronunciation
Would you try another book written by Deborah Meyler or narrated by Lucy-Jane Quinlan?
    Not by this narrator
Would you ever listen to anything by Deborah Meyler again?
    Maybe
Would you be willing to try another one of Lucy-Jane Quinlans performances?
Never, she is supposed to be portraying a very intellectual character who would know how to pronounce all of her words, which distracts completely from the story.
Did The Bookstore inspire you to do anything?
    No
    English naivety in New York
I enjoyed this book as a twenty-something (which I am not) The truisms and at times naivety of the heroine over conception, childbirth, and the American way were amusing, and her injections of literary wisdom charming. I only gave the performance a '4' as the reading was perfect for the heroine's character, but Lucy-Jane Quinlan did pronounce certain words very unconventionally to my ear.

    Thoroughly enjoyable ..
What did you like most about Custard Tarts and Broken Hearts?
I just liked everything about this book. . .the characters were great & you could almost imagine yourself in there with them. . .
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nellie & Maggie . . . down to earth eastenders...
What three words best describe Anne Dovers voice?
I dont really like Anne Dover's narrarations, but as the story was good,it took my mind of her a little !
    Any additional comments?
I lived for years in the area that this book is set, so I knew all the roads that they were talking about.... made it much more real for me....
    oh boy, what a cracker!!!
Would you listen to Custard Tarts and Broken Hearts again? Why?
The storyline caught my heart as it reminded me so much of my gran who was a bermondsey lass and worked for bird's custard. And her elder sister Nell brought her up after their mum had died.,however tthe storyline was most enjoyable with a variety of strong, and weak characters, one of the best books i have read this year.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Custard Tarts and Broken Hearts?
Nell being taken to the police station and meeting Sam afterward.
Which character as performed by Anne Dover was your favourite?
Nell was my favourite character and performed brilliantly by Anne especially when Nell lost her rag and had something to say
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Sam told Nell of his experiences during the war
    Any additional comments?
Hope Mary Gibson has plenty more to write of the different families in Bermonsey, as i am already looking forward to her next book. I also please that her books are decent length, can't wait for more
    Very good
Would you consider the audio edition of Custard Tarts and Broken Hearts to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed it only wish there was a follow up
Have you listened to any of Anne Dovers other performances? How does this one compare?
Anne Dover voice brought all the arthers to life
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    Keep Smiling
    Every word a delight
As I work alone in my sewing room, I listened to this mostly gentle story of how the First World War affected those left behind. The clever voices of Anne Dover brought the characters to life. Highly recommend this audio book.
    a beautiful and poignant story...
of love, war, heartache and happiness, with the happy ever after it so deserves to end on.

    Members Reviews:
    Predictable but sweet
Perhaps I was not the intended reader of this story as it seemed a little trite. If you're into romances, it will have lots for you as it recounts the history of the heroine through three relationships, idealistic first love, ill-chosen marriage and the more mature love after suffering. However, I found the story rather predictable and, perhaps because I'm not greatly materialistic, did not get excited about the "stuff" which brought the heroine memories of when and where she had acquired it. It seemed a little too neat that she was able to resolve the personal difficulties she had with old relationships and with her mother during the course of the story. But overall it was a pleasant and undemanding listen and was well performed by the narrator.
    Oh.. sooo. boring... YAWN!
I didn't finish this book, even though I tried a dozen times. The narrator is far too old to be depicting a young woman who is going through a divorce. Her voice is gravely like she has smoked 40 fags a day for 40 years.. I just couldn't get into this very boring book!
    A gorgeous gorgeous book!
    Any additional comments?
Review: oh what a gorgeous book. I haven't actually read anything by this author before, despite having a couple of her novels sitting on my shelves but I was recommended this book so many times by other bloggers and other authors that I knew I had to pick it up. I ended up listening to this on audiobook and found myself making excuses to listen at any opportunity it was so compelling and I needed to find out what was going to happen next. It was one of those novels that I really struggled to describe to someone as I was reading it, but I love something like that that doesn't conform to a particular mould or form!
First of all let me rave about Gina because she is such a special character. She has been knocked down again and again and again. She has been in an unhappy marriage, she has a difficult relationship with her mother she is struggling to buck against the stereotype that she has of a survivor and yet that is exactly what she is, a survivor. Someone who makes the very best of herself, by herself, she accepts help from others and yet does things by herself and for herself, she had decided to make herself happy, something which more of us should definitely be trying to do, be happy for ourselves by ourselves!
Her best friend, Naomi is also an amazingly strong female and is a pillar of strength for Gina even if she doesn't realise it. She is written as the kind of best friend that all of us would want to have, just a little bit more outgoing and more straight talking that your average girly girl! Gina's ex is, of course, a character we kind of love to hate, but you also feel sympathy for him and I think Gina did too.
