uncle presses death... i know he wasn't going to make it far in the book because bobby had to figure out how to do the adventurers some how with out him.. but still sucks

REALLY GOOD SERIES

Sniggers, Spinney-Do, Hobey-ho, Lets Go.

To quote Bobby Pendragon, "I love that guy." That guy being Spader. I love his energy, I love his zest for life, and I love his flaws, because we all have them.

This second book in the Pendragon series sets the stage for events and technology found in just about every book that follows. The relationship between Bobby and Spader is key to the series, and the reason it is rocky is just as key. It is an action packed, fun underwater romp until Saint Dane manages to poison the planet's food suply, putting Cloral civilization in the ballance. All that stands between the forces of evil and the teritories salvation is Bobby, Spader, Uncle Press and the fabled city of Farr.

I think is says a great deal about Bobby that he adopted Spader's patented phrase,

It is that way it was meant to be.

Amazing!

This whole experience has been wonderful and fantastic! I'm sad that there is only one book left in the series! But the performance by William Dufris is utterly amazing and entertaining!

Great book!

Great story overall! I really like the pendragon series. The reason I rated it 3 stars for story is because in a few of these last books it seems that there is lots of holes in the plot line and some of it is to obvious to ignore, it effects the entertainment value of the story for me. But overall a great book series.

Overacting

Another stunning overacting performance by William dufris. It still ruins the story for me. This book is probably my second least favorite anyway. When I fist started listening to this series, I was hoping the performance would get better, but it hasn'tyet... here's hoping...

This story is SOOOOO different from the past 4 books. It's a lot more grown up and action-packed than the previous books. I would completely recommend!

Very silly and some LOL moments

Sometimes I think the book is pretty funny then other times I think it is so disrespectful that I'm glad I don't have young kids listening. Just as most books and movies are really only understood by adults, the same is with this book. The main character, Hank, has a great dislike for cats. He even goes so far as saying God made a mistake when He created cats. The listener needs to take these as folly and dismiss them or it will drag down the story.

Hank is pretty self important. I know a few humans like him.

Ruined by background nonsense!

Every HTC audiobook has the same ridiculous, loud, distracting music in the background. LOVE these books and narrators. HATE the background noise. Why?? Why ruin the stories with this garbage?

My experience

I loved it, even though it was five hours it was a good book, and I'll recommend it as one of the best books.

A middle school read

My daughter had to read it for middle school as an assignment. I decided to listen to it after she had read the book and listen to it for more clarity. I truly enjoyed it.

My favorite thing about the book - other than the impression ...

My favorite thing about the book - other than the impression I always had that it described most boys of that age pretty well - was the humor. The outlandish stories the boy creates to explain why anything is a risk he just shouldn't take....As a kid, I thought it was a little silly. With a son this age, I find it's exactly the kind irrational argument he will suck me into to try and get out of something. It's hard to compete with form changing robots, spaceships shooting lasers, super heroes with powers from web spinning to cars that can take vertical climbs up the side of a building. Only as a parent do I appreciate how artful the book is in accomplishing such quiet fascination. I highly recommend this book to any boy in the 8 - 12 range - or the parents who would like to do a read-share with one

This book is a treasured tale dearly loved by my daughter, who read it several years ago when she was in (perhaps) the 4th grade. It has been one of her favorites ever since. I believe it captured her attention because at the time we were visited often by a family of foxes who lived in the wooded area behind our home.

Narrator not as good as 1st in series...

My daughter loved Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry in this series. Ms. Lynne Thigpen narrated it to perfection. Unfortunately, this narrator, Ms. Johnson, does not live up to Thigpen's performance. My daughter would not finish listening to this audiobook as she said the narrator's voice annoyed her and took away from the story. Now, I understand why some sellers on Amazon are asking for $200 or so (ouch!) for the CD set with Ms. Thigpen as the much better narrator. I wonder why Audible used this inferior narrator for all the other books in the series, except Roll of Thunder. How unfortunate!!! I would advise listeners to skip this audiobook and get the book instead, unless you can find a reasonably priced CD with Lynne Thigpen as narrator.

Amos Fortune: Free Man...what an incredible story

This was an amazing story to listen to. It was part of our homeschool curriculum, and was a very moving and emotional story. There are many today who should take heed to the character of Amos Fortune...he was an excellent example to all human beings! This story was wonderful written, wonderfully performed, truly wonderful!

Beautifully narrated.... Touching and thought provoking story for adults as well as children. American History teachers should incorporate this into their curriculum.

Short..yet Longer Lasting Truths than Most

Amazing, powerful story of injustices inflicted, yet mercies extended to 1 man. Tastefully written: tender hearts of youth aren't affected by trauma. True story written so well it satisfed my taste a work interesting enough to sound fictional. Doesn't gloss over pain while acknowledging many injustices I'd not considered..until this moving story. I'm aware of horrible treatment to slaves. Yet, not this audio isn't normal "slavery account". Hate burns white hot in "Amos" as he's later named..until he's bought by a Quaker, lovongly treated as part of the family. Sadly, his already written, pre-arranged pardon falls through. Amos, who learned mercy from this family, now extends mercy to them. His heart so full of hate, has been changed & continues changing. This influence countless lives. Well worth the time listening! The money, or credit, is worth double for this audio. I feel I, perhaps you as well, will find ourselves listening to this treasure many times! Rating this audio can't be rated high enough! Enjoy, be inspired, touched deeply & affected..until you long to have a spirit & heart of mercy as Amos Fortune.

Captivating

What did you love best about Amos Fortune, Free Man?

My kids and I listened started reading the book for my daughters co-op assignment. We went out of town and forgot the book so we purchased it on audible. It was honestly awesome! We loved listening to it in the car, I was able to pause it and immediately ask questions/discuss and really dig deeper into the meaning of the story- in fact we just purchased the next story she need to read for her co-op as well.
