Today on Perry and Shawna Mornings we take time to listen to the pain of one black brother in the wake of the death of George Floyd. But it’s a pain that goes much deeper than George’s death and much farther back than that. Rasool Berry is the teaching pastor at The Bridge Church in Brooklyn, NY and the host of the podcast, Where Ya From (whereyafrom.net).
First Rasool shares the fear that gripped him when he watched the video of George Floyd’s death. Next Rasool shares why that fear gripped him—it has to do with the story of deep wounds of injustice in black community for over 2 centuries in America. Then Rasool shares about some of his own experiences of experiencing injustice because he’s black.
Next, we talk about white privilege, how it does exist and Perry ask Rasool what he can do about being someone who is privileged. It’s a powerful answer. Then we ask Rasool to give his take from a black perspective about many of our nation’s founders being slave owners. And finally we join Rasool in praying for the healing of our land.
