    Publisher's Summary:
This program features a bonus interview with author Jason Delgado.
The memoir of Jason Delgado, a US Marine scout sniper and MARSOC's first lead sniper instructor.
The fight for Jason Delgado's life and soul began when he was just a boy. He ultimately escaped the death and drugs of a crime-riddled Bronx by way of the US Marine Corps. However, after earning his way into the esteemed ranks of the service's famed Scout Snipers, Delgado saw that old struggle reignited when he was dumped into the hell of war in Iraq.
There Delgado proved not only a participant but a warrior capable of turning the tide in several of the most harrowing and historically important battles of the evolving war. He took all the hard lessons learned in combat and, as MARSOC's original lead sniper instructor, made himself a pivotal figure in revolutionizing the way special operations snipers trained and operated. But even after accomplishing his mission in the military, Delgado still faced that original fight, struggling to understand and accept the man his experiences had transformed him into.
Bounty Hunter 4/3 is Jason Delgado's captivating firsthand account of these powerful and life-changing experiences.

    The narrator is a tool
The story is good but the narrator is a tool. I could listen to the whole book because of him.
Great book but the narration is over the top
I'm really enjoying the book. Great story line. However, the narrator's WAY over-the-top "tough guy" voice is making it difficult to enjoy. It sounds like he's doing a trailer for a movie. He has a nice voice, but shouldn't force it. Just talk normally.
    Good book
Narrator voice took some getting used to but other than that the book is well written and read
Excellent Account of a Scout Sniper
    Information is on point.
The narrator did a horrible job at trying to sound from NY, he also starts switching unit 4/3 to 3/4 through the narration which is pretty annoying to a grunt. Had to push through to finish the book.
Bounty Hunter 4/3 is insanely GREAT!
The story line is superb! Jason sticks to his own accounts on the field, training, and livelihood. His story will help capture your attention with its details and turn of events. The narrator Peter Berkrot makes you feel as though your right there with Jason... Ive listened to a lot of audio books but man this book was a notch above! I often felt like it was Jason just sitting on a couch telling me the story or like I was laying down in the prone position right next to him! This book far exceeded my expectations. Thank you for your service Jason! Ryan-USCG Veteran

    Publisher's Summary:
Best-selling writer and psychotherapist Irvin D. Yalom puts himself on the couch in a lapidary memoir
Irvin D. Yalom has made a career of investigating the lives of others. In this profound memoir, he turns his writing and his therapeutic eye on himself. He opens his story with a nightmare: He is 12 and is riding his bike past the home of an acne-scarred girl. Like every morning, he calls out, hoping to befriend her, "Hello Measles!" But in his dream, the girl's father makes Yalom understand that his daily greeting had hurt her. For Yalom, this was the birth of empathy; he would not forget the lesson. As Becoming Myself unfolds, we see the birth of the insightful thinker whose books have been a beacon to so many. This is not simply a man's life story; Yalom's reflections on his life and development are an invitation for us to reflect on the origins of our own selves and the meanings of our lives.
    Critic Reviews:
"Fans of this eloquent and introspective author will welcome this innermost chronicle of his history, passions, and the keys to unlocking a fruitful life." (
    Kirkus Reviews)
"Irv Yalom is the psychiatrist who thinks like a philosopher and writes like the fine novelist he also happens to be.
Becoming Myself delivers not only the engrossing story of one exceptional individual's life. It shines with revelations regarding life as it ought to be lived." (Rebecca Newberger Goldstein, author of
Plato at the Googleplex: Why Philosophy)

excellent capstone to a life well lived
It helps, but not essential to have read most if not all of his previous exceptional books. Dr. Yalom, or rather, Irv, reviews how his books were conceived in addition to how he became himself. Yalom has shaped my career as a psychiatrist and individual group therapist more than any other writer. I don't want to accept that this has to be his last book. I found myself weeping in the privacy of my. back yard when it ended, being fairly sure, though not absolutely certain, that I would live my life the same...with Dr. Yalom as a mentor.
    Yalom Fans Rejoice
a wonderful book for any Yalom fan, big or small. He is a wonderful story teller with a lot of great wisdom.
What an amazing life led by Yalom
I loved every minute of this book and it was especially special on audio. Great narration.
One of the best autobiographies ever
As a therapist in training, this was invaluable. This was my first Yalom book and I will proceed to buy them all.

Hyena is a collection of autobiographical stories by Jude Angelini, which takes the listener on his journey of heartbreak, depravity, and hilarity, deftly moving between his adult life and his childhood growing up in a factory town outside of Detroit. Each story is told with brutal honesty yet maintains a gallows humor that will leave you shaking your head in disbelief.
Jude is one of the top hip-hop radio hosts on Sirius Satellite radio. His self-published, print-on-demand edition of Hyena has been an indie best seller, despite having no physical distribution. Its exploration of drugs, sex, and the human condition can be compared to Charles Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson, Artie Lange, and Jim Norton. It also captures the hardscrabble culture, language, and landscape of postindustrial Detroit, from which came some of pop culture's most compelling artists.

    I can relate.
This book has to be one of the most interesting pieces of reading material up ever read. Growing up in California we grew up in the era of the gang bang. I sat back Listening to you describe the scenarios and I thought to myself this dude took a page out of my book! Good shit man about to listen to hummingbird
    Awesome book, would steal it
If you're a fan of his you'll love this. On to hummingbird now. It's making me add more words to submit this review so here I am adding this sentence unnecessarily.
    Honest, raw, and hella funny.
Couldn't stop listening once I started. It gets dark and hilarious at the same time. Chapter 7 was my favorite. Love Rude Jude!
Amazing. Unlike any book you've listened to before
Would you consider the audio edition of Hyena to be better than the print version?
Jude, and his short stories in this book, are maybe the most honest, visceral and entrancing thing I've ever read. Or listened to, in this case, which is a must for a book like this. Jude is one of those rare people/authors that can be so humble yet confident in his sense of self at the same time. His journey from Detroit to LA, and everything in-between, is truly an example of a live lived to the fullest. Step outside your comfort zone for a few hours and experience a collection of short stories that are guaranteed to take you places you've never been before. His follow up, HUMMINGBIRD, is just as good and a must listen as well.
Internal reflection of our everyday imagination!!!
Honestly, I think Jude is like Jesus to the everyday human. Walking this earth LIVING! Facing the trials and tribulations just like anyone seeking to live and bleeding to survive. We seek it, we bleed it. but we never speak it.

    Title: An Odyssey
Subtitle: A Father, a Son, and an Epic
    Author: Daniel Mendelsohn
    Narrator: Bronson Pinchot
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-12-17
    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 92 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
From award-winning memoirist and critic, and best-selling author of The Lost: a deeply moving tale of a father and son's transformative journey in reading - and reliving - Homer's epic masterpiece.
When 81-year-old Jay Mendelsohn decides to enroll in the undergraduate Odyssey seminar his son teaches at Bard College, the two find themselves on an adventure as profoundly emotional as it is intellectual. For Jay, a retired research scientist who sees the world through a mathematician's unforgiving eyes, this return to the classroom is his "one last chance" to learn the great literature he'd neglected in his youth - and, even more, a final opportunity to more fully understand his son, a writer and classicist. But through the sometimes uncomfortable months that the two men explore Homer's great work together - first in the classroom, where Jay persistently challenges his son's interpretations, and then during a surprise-filled Mediterranean journey retracing Odysseus's famous voyages - it becomes clear that Daniel has much to learn, too: Jay's responses to both the text and the travels gradually uncover long-buried secrets that allow the son to understand his difficult father at last. As this intricately woven memoir builds to its wrenching climax, Mendelsohn's narrative comes to echo the Odyssey itself, with its timeless themes of deception and recognition, marriage and children, the pleasures of travel and the meaning of home. Rich with literary and emotional insight, An Odyssey is a renowned author-scholar's most triumphant entwining yet of personal narrative and literary exploration.
    Critic Reviews:
"Mendelsohn is an artful storyteller whose skills are equal to the task of weaving Homer's poem into his own life. In this insightful, tender book, Mendelsohn gracefully marries literary criticism and memoir to describe an intellectual and personal journey that becomes one of profound discovery for both [father and son]. Most impressive are his transitions from scholarly consideration of The Odyssey to intimate stories of his family life, as when the class discussion flows effortlessly into a magical moment, witnessing [his father] Jay as he offers a heartbreakingly beautiful tribute to his wife.... [There are] many wise lessons to be gleaned from this lovely book." (Harvey Freedenberg, BookPage)
"Beguiling...in this memoir, Mendelsohn recounts a freshman class on the Odyssey he taught at Bard College with his father, an 81-year-old computer scientist, sitting in. ...Mendelsohn gradually unwraps layers of timeless meaning in the ancient Greek poem; Homeric heroes offer resonant psychological parallels to a modern family. Mendelsohn weaves trenchant literary analysis and family history into a luminous whole. A gem." (Publishers Weekly)

Seems written with the READER in mind. Perfect
I believe this was written FOR ME, and I believe you will feel the same. Not only is it about the teaching college freshmen the story of the Odyssey, it is about the authors' discovery of the universality of family strife and love. It is cunningly written in the same ring composition that Homer uses to write The Odyssey. The whole book is a circle, even the similarities between his father, Jay, himself, even his wife and other relatives.

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 253 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
This program is read by the author.
From Maria Sharapova, one of our fiercest female athletes, the captivating - and candid - story of her rise from nowhere to tennis stardom, and the unending fight to stay on top.
In 2004, in a stunning upset against the two-time defending champion Serena Williams, 17-year-old Maria Sharapova won Wimbledon, becoming an overnight sensation. Out of virtual anonymity, she launched herself onto the international stage. "Maria Mania" was born. Sharapova became a name and face recognizable worldwide. Her success would last: she went on to hold the number-one WTA ranking multiple times, to win four more Grand Slam tournaments, and to become one of the highest-grossing female athletes in the world.
And then - at perhaps the peak of her career - Sharapova came up against the toughest challenge yet: during the 2016 Australian Open, she was charged by the ITF with taking the banned substance meldonium, only recently added to the ITF's list. The resulting suspension would keep her off the professional courts for 15 months - a frighteningly long time for any athlete. The media suggested it might be fateful.
But Sharapova's career has always been driven by her determination and by her dedication to hard work. Her story doesn't begin with the 2004 Wimbledon championship, but years before, in a small Russian town, where as a five-year-old she played on drab neighborhood courts with precocious concentration. It begins when her father, convinced his daughter could be a star, risked everything to get them to Florida, that sacred land of tennis academies. It begins when the two arrived with only $700 and knowing only a few words of English. From that, Sharapova scraped together one of the most influential sports careers in history.
Here, for the first time, is the whole story, and in her own words. Sharapova's is an unforgettable saga of dedication and fortune. In this new audiobook, she brings us inside her pivotal matches and illuminates the relationships that have shaped her - with coaches, best friends, boyfriends, and Yuri, her coach, manager, father, and most dedicated fan, describing with honesty and affection their oft-scrutinized relationship. She writes frankly about the suspension. As Sharapova returns to the professional circuit, one thing is clear: the ambition to win that drove her from the public courts of Russia to the manicured lawns of Wimbledon has not diminished.
Sharapova's Unstoppable is a powerful audiobook memoir, resonant in its depiction of the will to win - whatever the odds.

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 48 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds.
Edith Eger was 16 years old when the Nazis came to her hometown in Hungary and took her Jewish family to an internment center and then to Auschwitz. Her parents were sent to the gas chamber by Joseph Mengele soon after they arrived at the camp. Hours later Mengele demanded that Edie dance a waltz to "The Blue Danube" and rewarded her with a loaf of bread that she shared with her fellow prisoners. These women later helped save Edie's life. Edie and her sister survived Auschwitz, were transferred to the Mauthausen and Gunskirchen camps in Austria, and managed to live until the American troops liberated the camps in 1945 and found Edie in a pile of dying bodies.
One of the few living Holocaust survivors to remember the horrors of the camps, Edie has chosen to forgive her captors and find joy in her life every day. Years after she was liberated from the concentration camps, Edie went back to college to study psychology. She combines her clinical knowledge and her own experiences with trauma to help others who have experienced painful events large and small. Dr. Eger has counselled veterans suffering from PTSD, women who were abused, and many others who learned that they, too, can choose to forgive, find resilience, and move forward. She lectures frequently on the power of love and healing.
The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance. Eger's story is an inspiration for everyone. And her message is powerful and important: "Your pain matters and is worth healing: You can choose to be joyful and free." She is 89 years old and still dancing.

    Unbelievable Heroism by AF Parajumpers
.An avid reader most of my life and as a retired sportswriter, writing has been a passion of mine...Now just turning 70, my eyes are that great but I love audiobooks. In the last 7-1/2 years, Ive read nearly 300 books.
I love books about Special Operations Forces. In all my time listening to great books, I adamantly state that Never Quit. an incredibly in depth look at the life of a domestic and military AF Parajumper rates as the greatest story of an incredible band of heroes that has somewhat flown under the radar in relation to Special Operators.
In most humble of opinions, Never Quit, the full life story of Alaskan Air Force Parajumper Jimmy Settle is the best audiobook I have ever listened to...To say too much about the book would be a complete unstatement.
To Jimmy Settles and his life long compadres, you folks are the absolute heroes of heroes and it was my most esteemed honor to listen to your story...words cant describe how proud I am to know men and women like you and the job yall do Jimmy!
My 41-year-old son will be receiving your story in hardback as a cherished Christmas gift.

    Publisher's Summary:
Penguin presents the audiobook of My Sister Milly by Gemma Dowler, read by Ruby Thomas.
This is Gemma Dowler's powerful account, as seen on The One Show and This Morning....
'My name is Gemma Dowler. On 21 March 2002, a serial killer named Levi Bellfield stole my sister and sent our family to hell....'
Everyone thinks they know the story of Milly Dowler.
Haunting headlines about the missing schoolgirl splashed across front pages. The family's worst fears realised when her body was found months later. The years of waiting for the truth, only to learn that the killer, known to the police, lived just yards from where Milly had vanished. The parents subjected to horrific psychological torture at a trial orchestrated by the murderer. And the shocking revelation of what journalists would do for a story - criminal acts that brought down a national newspaper.
But these bare facts hide the true story.
In My Sister Milly, Gemma Dowler shares the heartbreaking account of Milly's disappearance, the suspicions that fell on the family, the fatal errors made by the police, and the media's obsession that focused relentlessly on every personal, intimate and emotional aspect of the Dowlers' lives. It is the story of two stolen childhoods - Milly's and Gemma's - and about the love that kept the family together as they struggled with terrible darkness and injustice.
However, this book is a story of hope and recovery.
It's taken 15 years of pain for the family to find their voice. The family has worked hard and has received intensive therapy to recover from the trauma of Milly's murder. Their story shows that whatever suffering you endure in life, there is always hope, and there is always love.
Now, for the first time, Gemma tells their story and that of the real Milly. Above all, in this book the family want to bring back to life their incredible daughter and sister. Now, finally, the truth about Milly Dowler can never be denied.

This account left me breathless - I hope it results in many positive ripples
I will be thinking about this hugely inspiring story of one family's long road back from their man made hell. And with such grace and courage. Well done, Gemma.
Shameful Investigation Added to This Family's Pain
This book shook me to the core. I was interested in the British justice system and it let this family down in a huge way.
I believe the Dowler family experienced the most horrific tragedy imaginable but that was only the beginning of their ordeal.
Without giving too much away I was floored at their treatment in the aftermath of losing their precious daughter and sister.
I feel that sweet Milly found peace the moment her life ended. Not even close for the people who loved her.
It angers me how the person who did this, a non-human in my mind was afforded so many rights while the family had NONE.
The person who is upmost in my admiration is Michelle, the therapist who literally brought Sally and Gemma back to life.
Gemma Fowler managed to write an incredibly beautiful tribute to her cherished sister and I loved hearing about her short but wonderful life.
They are such a strong family! I was continually amazed at how they kept it together for Milly.
This is a book I will never forget and Gemma, Milly,, their parents and Lovely Granny have made a lasting impact on my heart.
Gemma, I am so sorry for all you went through. Thank you for writing this.

    Publisher's Summary:
From noted ESPN commentator and journalist Kate Fagan, the heartbreaking and vital story of college athlete Madison Holleran, whose death by suicide rocked the University of Pennsylvania campus and whose life reveals with haunting detail and uncommon understanding the struggle of young people suffering from mental illness today.
If you scrolled through the Instagram feed of 19-year-old Maddy Holleran, you would see a perfect life: a freshman at an Ivy League school, recruited for the track team, who was also beautiful, popular, and fiercely intelligent. This was a girl who succeeded at everything she tried and who was only getting started.
But when Maddy began her long-awaited college career, her parents noticed something changed. Previously indefatigable Maddy became withdrawn, and her thoughts centered on how she could change her life. In spite of thousands of hours of practice and study, she contemplated transferring from the school that had once been her dream. When Maddy's dad, Jim, dropped her off for the first day of spring semester, she held him a second longer than usual. That would be the last time Jim would see his daughter.
What Made Maddy Run began as a piece that Kate Fagan, a columnist for espnW, wrote about Maddy's life. What started as a profile of a successful young athlete whose life ended in suicide became so much larger when Fagan started to hear from other college athletes also struggling with mental illness. This is the story of Maddy Holleran's life and her struggle with depression, which also reveals the mounting pressures young people, and college athletes in particular, face to be perfect, especially in an age of relentless connectivity and social media saturation.
    Critic Reviews:
"It is impossible not to be affected by Holleran's heart-wrenching story. An appropriate (if difficult) read for current and future college athletes, their coaches, and parents." (
    Library Journal)
"A compassionate and frank look at depression and the social pressure faced by many college students as seen through the eyes of one young woman." (
    Kirkus)
"Fagan's book is well-researched and the message is timely and important." (
    Publishers Weekly)

Consider reading instead of listening to this book
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It goes without saying that this is a tragic story. In trying to elucidate the factors contributing to this young woman's suicide, perhaps something positive will come of Madison's untimely death.
What did you like best about this story?
The exploration of the impact of social media on the generation that has not known a world without extreme connectivity. The destructiveness of unrealistic expectations of oneself that can be at least partially attributed to the bombardment by the "happiness" displayed on social media, and the exclusion of the reality of peoples lives is explored.
Things have changed drastically since I went to college in the 80's. The author effectively contrasts the not so remote, yet extremely different experiences of going off to college. Ironically, there is so much more awareness of mental illness now than there was 30 years ago, and an armamentarium of psychotropic medications.
