    Great stories, narration average
I love the stories of E F Benson, so I was delighted to find a complete set of the ghost stories. I do find the diction of the narrator and her ability to demonstrate the characters somewhat lacking: Not terrible, but not great either. Really wish Greg Wagland would narrate the full set!

Reminded me of when I was read to as a child
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I enjoyed the collection very much.
If youve listened to books by the authors before, how does this one compare?
I like their old spook stories.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Cathy Dobson?
Yes, I quite like Cathy Dobson's narration. It is the style female readers used when I was a child. This was the way I was taught to read to other people (in the 1950s).
Was Haunting Stories worth the listening time?
I would set one and play it as I fell asleep every night.
    Any additional comments?
I am not sure why the other listeners hated her delivery so much, since I enjoyed the experience thoroughly. I reckon it has to be some sort of style change that has happened over time. I suppose I simply don't understand how a lady is supposed to read a Victorian ghost story to people.
    difficult to listen to
What disappointed you about Haunting Stories?
The reader was terrible. She read in such an affected way it was impossible to concentrate on the stories so I can't really comment on them. I am usually very impressed with the quality of readers but the opposite is the case here.
Has Haunting Stories put you off other books in this genre?
No, I'll just avoid anything that is read by her.
What didnt you like about Cathy Dobsons performance?
I have already said it all.
    Any additional comments?
I don't know how someone so bad was allowed to be a reader.
    Utter rubbish
What would have made Haunting Stories better?
These writers do not know the definition of 'haunting'. They are bleak bearing on almost dead.
Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?
    Possibly.
Would you be willing to try another one of Cathy Dobsons performances?
    NO
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Haunting Stories?
I would not have cut anything out.... i would have put some semblense of haunting in...

    Publisher's Summary:
At 20 years of age, Georgiana Darcy embarks on her third season in London hoping to find true love. Things go terribly wrong when she is implicated in a scandalous affair with the Duke of Rothford and, though she is innocent of wrongdoing, London society shuns her and her reputation is in tatters.
For months the Duke has had troubles of his own; the last thing he needs is to be caught up in London's latest scandal with a perfect stranger. The Duke is an honourable man, however, and does his best to clear their names and restore Georgiana's reputation.
The Duke's kindness and attentiveness ignite the kind of love in Georgiana she's always dreamed of. She knows a peer of the realm could never marry a mere gentleman's daughter, so she contents herself with simply being near him. But when a new scandal arises, she must leave London and the Duke or risk losing her reputation forever.

    Impressive and entertaining!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have already recommended this to a friend. The performance was fantastic and the story believable and I got swept up in the story line that I had to do a priorities check and make dinner for my family
Which character as performed by Stevie Zimmerman was your favorite?
I have admit I enjoyed the presentation of Georgiana because her voice was soft annd breathy and shy just like I think of that character. Her male character voices were believable and I forgot that it was one narrator doing it since it felt like 6!
    Any additional comments?
The story line was fantastic and very impressive. I have to say that I enjoyed how clean it was and was grateful when the last chapter warned the reader that it was for mature readers. I will be honest and tell you I did not listen to the last chapter because of this warning but I have no doubt that the book ended to my satisfaction even without the last chapter. I thought the performance was impressive and she had a soothing voice that drew the listener in. This will definitely be something I listen to over and over again. Ms. Bray spun a tale that touched my heart and made me fall in love with the duke from nearly the very first time I was introduced.
    very good.
Loved it but didn't listen to the last chapter as I don't like scenes of that nature when it comes to P&P sequels or variations. They are just unnecessary. The rest of the book was delightful.
    Wonderful story
This story focuses on Georgiana a few years after the marriage of Darcy and Elizabeth. A rumor is flying through the ton about Georgiana and the Duke of Rothford. As one rumor is squashed another, more vicious rumor is passed around. Who is behind the rumors? What will happen to Georgiana's reputation? A very enjoyable story that s hard to put down. One element of the book I very much appreciated is that the author, at the end of the book, let you know there would be sexual content. There was ample warning and you could make the choice to read the epilogue or not. This made it a book I could readily share with my teenage nieces or mom,
    Loved this story and narration.
Would you consider the audio edition of Threat of Scandal to be better than the print version?
About the same. I loved the ebook and now I loved the audio book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I adore the Duke of Rothford.

    Holmes, my dear Watson!
    Any additional comments?
A well written story, each character well outlined. The author wrote the book in such a way that the story was able to be told in a way as to bring the listener into the world of Holmes. The narrator, Alex Hyde-White with his gifted and talented voice brought the characters off of the page, and into a three dimensional mix that allowed the characters to dance thru the imagination and bring you along on Holmes and Watson's travels. This made for a good story. Give the audiobook a listen and begin your travels with Holmes. You won't be disappointed.

High in the Himalayas near Darjeeling, the old mountaintop palace shines like a jewel. When it was the General's 'harem' palace, richly dressed ladies wandered the windswept terraces; at night, music floated out over the villages and gorges. Now, the General's son has bestowed it on an order of nuns, the Sisters of Mary.
Well-intentioned yet misguided, the nuns set about taming the gardens and opening a school and dispensary for the villagers. They are dependent on the local English agent of Empire, Mr Dean; but his charm and insolent candour are disconcerting. And the implacable emptiness of the mountain, the ceaseless winds, exact a toll on the Sisters.
When Mr Dean says bluntly, 'This is no place for a nunnery,' it is as if he foresees their destiny.

There is a certain cadence that a Wodehouse story is best read in- I
I can't do it but J Cecil does it best. In the last 5 min. The recording repeated a line 3x. Then a minute later it repeated another line 3 x. Scripted? Didn't seem to be. All in all .... A mediocre Wodehouse story is better than no story of his...

In this story Bertie is our narrator, and we become part of the early 20th century life in titled Britain through entering his social circle. Most of what happens to him is unexpected to him and to us, and is hilariously funny. This is a story where Bertie tries his hand at singing.
    Members Reviews:
    Affairs of the Heart
This unabridged set of audio cassettes is narrated by Alexander Spencer and provides a particularly enjoyable way to experience these marvelous P.G. Wodehouse stories. The Jeeves stories were intended to be read as written-down musical comedy or farces, and a dramatization helps accentuate that delightful aspect of their development.
Wodehouse thought that you could either start by writing from life or start from humor. He chose the later, and you'll be glad he did.
This set of cassettes features the stories: Jeeves and The Song of Songs; The Inferiority Complex of Old Sippy; The Kid Clementina; Indian Summer of An Uncle, The Yuletide Spirit; and The Impending Doom. Each story involves Bertram (Bertie) Wooster and Jeeves as they assist in bring couples together (or keeping them together). In most cases, Bertie gets involved out of family obligations, but friendships also draw him in. He is a very loyal person, and quickly rushes to the rescue (usually by asking Jeeves what to do). I recommend that you listen to the set of audio cassettes called Jeeves Takes Charge prior to listening to these, for those stories precede these in chronological order and include the story of when Bertie and Jeeves first met.
If you don't know Bertie and Jeeves, let me fill you in a bit. Bertie is a gentleman who lives off the family money, and enjoys a bit of a carouse. What? He's the most vapid of a particularly vapid group of aristocrats, and this provides room for lots of upper class humor. Bertie is our narrator, and we become part of the early 20th century life in titled Britain through entering his social circle. Most of what happens to him is unexpected to him and to us, and is hilariously funny.
Jeeves is the brainest of the brainy, a sort of Sherlock Holmes in livery (he's Bertie's Gentleman's Gentleman), who is constantly finding solutions to the silly countratemps the effete gentry land themselves into. He's not above accepting a gift of a few pounds for his trouble, and is used to getting his way.
Here are some of the scrapes that friends and relatives have gotten themselves into: a chum falls for a woman he has just met, tossing Bertie's cousin in the process; another pal has fallen for a wonderful woman, but hasn't got the nerve to tell her so; a casual female acquaintance Bertie has been smitten with in the past persuades Bertie to take her and her cousin out to dinnerand then take the cousin back to school after curfew; an ancient uncle falls for a young waitress at his club; Bertie decides to take revenge on his chum for an old slight with hilarious complications; and another of Bertie's old friends loses his household money for the next six weeks at the races and needs a temporary tutoring job in order to keep out of trouble with his wife.
In some of these stories, Bertie bridles at following Jeeves' lead. As a result, Bertie develops his own harebrained schemes that leave him up in the air several times unexpectedly.
