I liked the book but I like to have an ending ...

I liked the book but I like to have an ending to the story. So many aspects were not ended and there certainly was any justice. I realize that is how life is sometimes but I don't like it in my books. Also, hard to really like any of the main characters in this book.

Good Read

As usual, Lisa Scottoline has delivered yet another book that is hard to put down. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because for this book, I found myself sometimes getting lost in the number of characters . But overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys anything written by Lisa Scottoline.

First Lisa Scottoline book for me. Page turner all the way with unanticipated ending. Have added multiple of her books to my wish list. Good character development along with story line.

Gripping Legal Thriller

This story is a sad commentary on today's society and probably occurs much more often than we realize. It sickens me that parents, usually the mother, can use their children as pawns for their own personal gain or revenge. Lives can be devastated with even the mere accusation of child molestation and it is often an uphill battle to prove their innocence. As was stated in the book, how do you prove that you didn't do something? In Gabe's story, the presumption of innocence was almost completely absent during his initial trial, compounding his fight.

Do You Solemnly Swear? was a compelling listen that gripped me from the start. Gabe made some bad choices but certainly didn't deserve to be in his current predicament and I really felt for him. The writing was powerful, with a great story and interesting characters. My only criticism was that so many side stories somewhat detracted from the main emphasis, namely proving Gabe's innocence. With a large cast of characters, Mark Kamish did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed Do You Solemnly Swear?: A Nation of Law, The Dark Side and would recommend it.

Great main story, too many tangents

Excellent

Really enjoyed this book. Took me a little while to get into it and become familiar with all the characters but once I did I loved it. Very interesting storyline. I hope there is more to come from Priest!

A brilliant new fun find

Having read and enjoyed all the books by Keith McCarthy, I am very happy to have found another author whose writing is as intelligent, entertains and captivating.

Also, due credit to Tim Bruce for an excellent and entertaining narration.

Straight forward shoot 'em up

Very quick, simple read with a strange third person "observer" narrative. Straight forward action with some tough-guy humor, but no subtly at all.

If you're looking for a fast-paced, simple read to distract you for a few hours, "Remo Went Rogue" fits the bill.

For me, one of the best aspects of this book is the dark humour. The one-liners are so slick, funny and had me laughing out loud on occasion. When it transpires that Remo's life is at stake, you'd think you wouldn't care, he's really a rather repulsive, immoral, misogynist. But the clever writing makes you care about this man, who, it is revealed, does have some redeeming features. Describing action in words is always difficult, but Mr McCrary does it particularly well. I could see the fight in my imagination. This is not my usual genre but I'm always looking at expanding my literary horizons and I'm really, really glad I did. Nothing is as it seems, everything is turned upside down and inside out and wow, it is fast! Now I find I do care about Remo, and even about Luther and Hollis. A great action book

A fun read!

A pretty great short read! I love the characters in the Ben Kincaid series.

Short and sweet and pure Kincaid.

It is wonderful to watch a master at work and even better to watch two. This compact jewel of a story let's us enjoy watching Ben Kincaid and William Bernhardt do what they do best, achieve a satisfying outcome with all the chips piled up against them. Every component essential to a successful full length courtroom thriller is packed into this tiny package. You both make it look so easy.

LOVE William Bernhardt

The Ben Kincaid series has been my favorite novel series ever! This was an engaging short story right from the beginning. William has a knack for introducing his main characters quickly, so you get to understand the relationships and each person's personality. Ben always comes out the hero, with a plot twist at the end. This was no disappointment, for sure!

I'm a huge Ben Kincaid fan

I started reading Kincaid novels when they were first published. Bernhardt has never let me down, and this short story is no exception. Unlike many popular characters in a series, Ben continues to grow and change and we keep getting to know more about the supporting characters.

Where does The Abduction rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Overal a good story, but the American psycho babble ending spoils the book . So quit when you are 5 minutes from the end, then you will have a good book.

Mark Giminez at his very best

One of the best thrillers I have read or heard. Links between many threads are teased out through this high paced story. Definitely worth a listen

Stunning

A young Nigerian boy is on trial for murder. Wanting to tell the jury the whole story from his point of view, he sacks his Q.C. and makes his own closing speech. Over the course of ten days, we hear of his life trying to avoid being drawn into the fringes of the drug gangs, his love for his girlfriend (?Kaira) and his increasing desperation as he becomes enmeshed in a life he never wanted.

This is one of the best narrations I have ever listened to.

Highly recommended.

Amazing

Absolutely brilliant book, and Adam Deacon's performance elevated it to another level. I truly felt like I was there in that courtroom, deciding what the truth was.

masterful storytelling, brilliantly read

This was a book I had never heard of. But what a book. I've never come across a plot so full of twists, so full of turns and dead ends, yet so well held together.

The narration is perfect. The characterisation is spot on. The story is dark, yet there are just enough moments of light and humour that it never gets depressing.

This really does have to be a contender for both book and audio book of the year.

A likeable anti-hero and a genuinely heartfelt story

Characters are beautifully written, I was sceptical about the choice of narrator at first but he gave a genuine and heartfelt performance. The book produces a landscape that I'm not familiar with but one I could understand and appreciate for all it's light and shade. This book is a surprise, it's difficult to pigeonhole this into a specific genre which I feel is a good thing. I write this review now having a greater appreciation for a reality that's practically on my doorstep. I can understand why some are frustrated with the end, but if you're expecting a specific book then that's to be expected. Read this with no expectations and you won't be disappointed at the end.

Outstanding book that takes you somewhere

This book gripped from the start, and the story took me to a milieu that I don't know anything about (not many will). The narration is pitch perfect, and I had to stop listening at night because it kept me awake.

Another great book!!

I have read all of this author's books and they are all great reads. But if you loved A Moment of Clarity and how could you not, you must read Clarity Must Prevail. We were introduced to the wonderful characters in A Moment of Clarity. As the book drew to a close two of the main characters were getting ready to embark on a peaceful retirement. Or so they thought... Once again their sleepy little town was thrown into the spotlight and they, again, became major players in the midst of the explosion. Literally!! I would recommend reading both because at the end of each one you will be hoping for more to their wonderful story. The story also involves an alzheimer's patient, who is depicted by the author with respect and dignity. They are both wonderful books and by the time you are finished you will wish these characters were real and you could meet them and become their friends. I for one, am hoping for a third!! Who doesn't like a great book that has everything?? Love, mystery, suspense and the importance of friendship!! This book has it all!!

This is the third book I've read by this author and I just love his books.. The first was a biography of his life at the Jersey shore called On the Road to Find Out. Robert led a very interesting life as a carnie in his late teens and twenty's. The next two books A Moment of Clarity and the sequel Clarity must Prevail were wonderful. His characters are the kind of people you would want to know and live near. They are both mysteries and very good ones but I am more attached to his characters than anything else. Can't wait for his next book to come out.
