Ever since The Night in Question left her with a hideous scar and no memory of what happened, Theo Lane has been hiding. An aspiring filmmaker, she uses a hidden button cam to keep the world at bay. She spends the entire summer in a Manhattan cafe, secretly documenting random "subjects".
Once school starts, Theo finds her best friend has morphed into a flirtatious, short-skirt-clad stranger. Everyone ignores the scar. As if that will make it go away. The cafe remains her lunchtime refuge. Her most interesting subject is the Lost Boy, a stranger who comes in every day at the same time. When she finally gets up the courage to talk to him she discovers why: the Lost Boy, Andy, is waiting for someone who said she'd meet him there...four days ago. Intoxicated by Andy's love for this mystery girl, Theo agrees to help him find her, and her unhealthy obsession pulls her into a perilous, mind-bending journey. But is it really Andy's world she's investigating? Or is it her own?

    Contrived with too many coincidences
    Grade: B-
Seventeen-year-old budding documentarian Theo Lane secretly films strangers and obsesses over NYT wedding announcements. She can't remember how she got the scar on her face 2 1/2 months a free The Night In Question. She meets Lost Boy Andy Reese, who's searching for Sarah, a chance encounter with whom he's fallen in love.
Confused yet? THE GIRL WITH THE WRONG NAME had me wondering what the heck was happening and the reliability of narrator Theo. We aren't privy to why she's in therapy, but know she's taking an antidepressant, but I immediately wondered if her problems ran deeper that PTSD and depression and into the realm of psychopathy. Theo had a great, sarcastic, unique voice that drew me in from page one. Even when I didn't like how she treated her friends and parents, I loved her character. I had a hard time seeing why Theo's best friends liked her, she was thoughtless and often unkind. While Theo was fleshed out, the secondary players seemed to exist only to support Theo.
The plot had me guessing and wondering and the resolution took a fill third of the story to explain. Barnabas Miller included so many details in the wrap up that destroyed any credibility that THE GIRL WITH NO NAME could be anything other than a story created in Miller's mind. I was glad that the book had a definite ending, even though it lacked authenticity.
THEMES: mental health, mystery, family, friendship,
A lukewarm recommendation for THE GIRL WITH NO NAME.
    an eerie psychological thriller
Theo has a scar on her face that she covers with her hair, concealer, and hoodies. She woke up with an alarming slash on her face during âthe night in question.â The description of this scar in the beginning of the novel was intriguing, because I definitely wanted to know how she was injured.
As an aspiring filmmaker, Theo walks around New York City with a hidden camera. She becomes fascinated with a boy named Andy, whom sheâs been watching for a while. After she bumps into him and finally strikes up a conversation, she learns that he appears at the same spot because heâs looking for an elusive girl heâs fallen in love with. Even though Theo is attracted to him, she helps him look for Sarah. Then the story gets stranger, because things start unraveling.

    Terrible narration
As soon as I heard the narrator's voice, I knew I was in for a struggle. She was too overzealous, and tried to hard to sound like a teenager... Making the character sound like an idiot. She also pronounced words in an irritating way such as "impor-Dant" instead of important. I think the writing was a bit too juvenile for it to be believeable that Addison was 17, and I would have preferred a more linear story, but the concept was interesting.

Very good book. A good story line and well depicted characters. Not too pleased with the narrator, paused too long in between sentences and paragraphs. Had to keep the playback on X1.5 just to keep myself from going crazy, even then she still paused for too long. But..was a great read

    Short, sweet and clean romance
This is a stand alone novel written from Sarah's point of view, telling the story of how she went from a homeless teen to single parent of adopted kids, then on to find true love and her happily ever after.
A clean romance that also deals with deeper issues such as 9/11, death and foster care. The characters felt very similar to the ones in Lykin's other books - very well spoken (rarely use contractions such as I'm) but still quite naive and a bit too perfect. If you like your romance short, sweet and clean then this is the book for you.
I listened to the audiobook edition which I received free in exchange for an honest review. The narrator spoke clearly and at a good pace. I felt that Kandi portrayed Sarah's character well.
    Destiny but maybe Fate!
Author T.R. Lykins has written a beautiful story. It reminds me of a movie I watched but I'm having trouble of remembering the title of the movie. The story focuses on a female named Sarah. she was dealt a hard hand in life, being placed in the system when her mom was found dead from an overdose, then finding herself placed in bad homes, she decides she'd rather live on the streets than having something happen to her in and that's what she did. She meets a family and watched their three children. Her life changes even more on 9/11 when she decides not to take the children to their dad's job. Sarah's life changes after 9/11 after a tragedy. The children's dad left her the home, the children, along with plenty of money to take care of them all. Sarah's invested everything into taking care of those children as anyone should. She loves them and hasn't even went on dates because she thinks only of those children. She writes books for a living and does have to go on book signings but not often and she normally takes them with her when she goes. This is how she meets Adam Parker, at a book signing. Sarah. Adam is a social worker and he spends his time to make sure he doesn't fail the kids when placing them in a new home. He loves what he does and he goes above and beyond what is required of him when it comes to doing his job.
Narrator, Kandi Peppers does a good job with the narration of this story. I can't say it's a perfect performance but it was pleasant and easy to listen to. I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.
    Incredibly beautiful!
What a great story! Sarah has seen and been thru so much! She was homeless, then got a new home and now is a mom of adopted girls. Sarah lost her mom at a young age and never knew her dad.

    A refreshing read.
    Any additional comments?
This was such a refreshing read. The summary says it all, so let's get down to what I thought!
Elle (pronounced Ellie) is an awesome and worthy heroine. She is chosen to be a Guardian and despite being only 10, she takes on the huge responsibility. She has such a heart of gold that it's impossible not to like her. Being a guardian comes with a lot of responsibilities and hardship but Elle takes it all in her stride. She is definitely an amazing role model for kids.
Plot wise, its quite fast paced. There is so much going on in this book, that it's hard to say too much more in case I spoil something so all I'll say is that I really liked the idea of the Fiorins and what they are there for. They are there to keep the children of Earth safe. They can only fly through a childs reflection and to most kids, look like butterflies. When a child is born, it's their job to reach the baby and kiss them, which gives the children kindness etc. The times they don't make it in time are the times that the children grow up to be bullies etc. It was such a unique and awesome concept!!
Anyway, this was such a sweet book that it's hard not to like it. Everything about it will catch you imagination and not let go. It's a magical adventurous read and one that will stay with you when you finish.

    Fun duology
Fitting end to the story. I wish I would have read this sooner. It took me awhile to remember about references to things that had happened in the first book. It would be a cool program to have. I would love to try things like hang gliding or ziplining without the issues this program had.
I think the program becoming aware and fighting back on its own is harder to believe, but was a fun couple books all in all.
    interesting and fun
yes, it's good. I was hoping for more about patrick's mom and why she did the things she did. Yes, the covers are wonderful.

Review for Elusion by Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam

Etherworld by Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam
Book Two of the Elusion series
    Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
    Publication Date: March 31, 2015
    Rating: 4 stars
Source: ARC sent by the publisher
    Summary (from Goodreads):
In this sequel to Elusion, three teens fight a virtual reality program that threatens to destroy their minds. Dangerous secrets and lies add up to a thrilling futuristic fantasy with an Inception-inspired twist.
Elusion was hailed as an exciting leap in technologyâuntil users began to disappear amid rumors of addiction. Reganâs search for the truth led her and her new love interest, Josh, to Etherworld. Etherworld is a dimension hidden deep beyond Elusion's firewall, where players can hide, and ultimately fight back. Regan's father and others are here working to destroy Etherworld, but the longer they stay the less likely they'll be able to return to the real world alive.
Escape means attacking Elusion from within the program. It's dangerous and itâs a puzzle. And even if they manage it, how will they be able to stop Orexis from distributing Elusion to the masses when the people who run it are corrupt?
    What I Liked:
I really enjoyed this book! This duology was pretty amazing, if I may say so myself. I'm a huge fan of science fiction, high stakes, simple romance - and gorgeous book covers! So you could say that I personally hit the jackpot with this series. Also, I've met Cheryl Klam in September 2014 (she gave me a gorgeous signed ARC of this book!), and she's amazing! I have no doubt that Claudia is just as wonderful and kind. Anyway. On to the review!
Etherworld picks up where Elusion left off.
