Listening/Speech Training: Something Lost & The Haunted Elevator

有个人在公司接到一个电话，对方只说了一句话:你家里丢东西了。(yǒu gèrén zài gōngsī jiē dào yīgè diànhuà, duìfāng zhǐ shuōle yījù huà: Nǐ jiālǐ diū dōngxīle.)

A man received a call at work, the person

on the other end saying only one thing:

“Something at your home is missing”.

这个人回家以后翻箱倒柜，找了半天，身份证、银行卡、手机、钱包……什么都没少。(

Zhège rén huí jiā yǐhòu fānxiāngdǎoguì, zhǎole bàntiān,

shēnfèn zhèng, yínháng kǎ, shǒujī, qiánbāo……shénme dōu méi shǎo.)

The man returned home after work and rummaged

through the boxes and cabinets, searching for quite a while, but his ID card, bank card, mobile phone, wallet... everything was there.

电梯门又关上了，就在电梯门要关上的时候，这个人清楚的听到他们在说：“怎么这么多人啊！”

One night, a man returned to his dorm

after getting off work. He pressed the elevator button on the first floor, wanting to go to the sixth floor. Luckily, the elevator came immediately. He walked in and found it empty. The elevator closed as soon as he walked in. Up and up it went. When it reached the fourth

floor, the elevator suddenly opened. Two people were standing just outside the elevator, looking as though they

wanted to come in, but for some reason they didn't enter. The elevator door closed again. Just as it was about to close, the man clearly heard them say, "Why are there so many people?!"
