Hello, everyone. My name is Benjamin Karl. I’m a Michigan certified teacher of English language and literature at the secondary level. Over the years, I’ve also been an actor, both on stage and on screen, and a filmmaker.
“In my new podcast, Lit Out Loud, I’ll be reading aloud great works of poetry, excerpts from novels and other longer works, and discussing them all along the way. Occasionally, I’ll have guests on the show—experts in different fields—to discuss the impacts and significance of some of these works as they relate to particular domains. And we’ll look at these works’ cultural impacts, both contemporaneously to the given work and to our own time today, all in an effort to answer the perennial question ‘why read the classics?’
“Maybe you’re just looking to hear some great lit out loud, or maybe you’re the kind that likes to really dig in; each episode will be designed for maximum enjoyment and flexibility. So, come along with me your host Benjamin Karl and let’s have a listen to some lit out loud.”
