Lit Wallflowers Podcast

We will be riverside this series at The Grand Palace on the Thames starting with “Lady Derring Takes a Lover” by Julie Anne Long, book one of The Palace of Rogues series!

Lady Delilah Derring finds out that her late husband left her with keys to a building he won in a wager and with the newly discovered secret that he had a mistress, Angelique.

Mrs. Breedlove was at her trusty pub when Delilah visited her building, but decided to appease her growling stomach next door first.  Instead of sherry being tossed in faces, it was being tossed back and they formed a partnership.

After weeks of getting the building into ship shape, Captain Tristan Hardy becomes one of the hotel’s inhabitants.  What the proprietresses do not realize is his mission for the crown to uncover Delilah’s role in her late husband’s activities.

Join us as we discuss Lady Derring and Captain Tristan (not Tom) Hardy, and the place you want to have lively discourse with other guests at least four times a week, The Grand Palace on the Thames!!

Cailin Audley arrives in town and has more lessons on etiquette than trips to learning facilities.  One day, she finally sees Lord Keir outside her father’s study and rushes to apologize for her brother’s behavior months ago.  Lord Keir has no idea who she is and what had happened at first, and found himself fired.

Courtland and his family needs Keir’s job for the household and to pay for their sister’s season, but most importantly, Courtland knows how much his twin loves his work.  He tries to get Keir’s job back at the Bentley Ball while Cailin figures out who he really is.

James the Marquis of Riverdale returns on a personal detective mission and suspects Elizabeth Hotchkiss in “How to Marry a Marquis” by Julia Quinn!!

Elizabeth works as a companion for Lady Danbury and she manages her household consisting of four younger siblings since her baronet father past.  Her wages barely keep her family feed and the five year paid rental agreement will soon end.  Marriage to someone with money is the answer, as long as it is not to the creepy local squire.

James shows up at Lady D’s country house at her behest to sneak about and identify her blackmailer, but as her new estate manager, not as her nephew.  One of his suspects naturally is Elizabeth who he bumps into as she quickly leaves for the day.  His suspicions are on red alert when he sees a red book she’s trying to hide.

Elizabeth practices the rules in the ridiculous book on James and he uses his spy skills on Lizzie.  James finds out what the book is about and decides to help Lizzie find a match.  Join us as we discuss how their close proximity helped them create a bond and how loved ones helped them seal a rift! Then during our Pottail Pondering, we discuss one of the books Lizzie reads to Lady D, the graphic novel “Miss Butterworth and the Mad Baron” by JQ and Violet Charles!!

A Scottish gentleman arrives for the season with one sister’s eyes on him while another sister does not want his eyes on her in book two of the Essex Sisters series, Kiss Me, Annabel by Eloisa James.

Ewan, the Earl of Ardmore, journeyed from up north to find a wife.  He may have the looks to catch a woman’s eyes, however he does not seem to have the funds to seal the deal.

Miss Annabel Essex served as her family’s bookkeeper starting at a young again, yet experienced her father’s wrath when she advised him on how to handle their meager funds.  She is determined to marry a rich man so she does not have to worry about penny pinching ever again.

Younger sister Imogen’s grief got her into a situation which she wanted to right.  She went to apologize to Ewan after a ball with her sister and chaperone for propriety’s sake.  The visit turned into a nightmare which created a scandal for a gossip sheet to spread.  Join us as we discuss the lass who never wanted to go back to Scotland yet does not mind staying for love!!
