  • 58 - Ban Facial Recognition Technologies for Children—And for Everyone Else

Internet activist and anon Gregg Housh stops by to discuss #OperationPanopticon, the always glorious Tillie & the APT-69420 Arson Cats, and their (alleged) hack of 150,000 cameras operated by private firm Verkada. Find out just how fragile the surveillance state is and how to advocate against it in your school. Along the way, we discuss Anonymous, the broader hacker community, and @donk_enby dunking on fragile tech-bros. Also, Adam frequently mispronounces the name 'Verkada'. #FreeTillie #FreeKirtaner #PutKevinBack

  • 57 - Decolonization with Zitkato - Part 1

On this episode, Gord is joined by Zitkato, one of the hosts of Bands of Turtle Island to begin a discussion on Decolonization.

In this first part, Zitkato leads us through how diversity of Indigenous People is understood outside of settler concepts of blood quantum and institutional labelling. We learn how Indigenous identity is shaped by the experience of colonization but not merely defined by dispossession.

Zitkato and Gord take a conversational approach to their dialogue, covering points on how contemporary media and historical accounts are interwoven with the state of progress in a society, and no amount of making movies out of oppressed peoples' experiences will change things.

Finally, the discussion covers how dialectics and oral histories work in similar ways to help understand the world and our relationship with it.

Little Red School House is committed to taking part in Decolonization and our first step is to start with us.

John, Cassie and guest, Chicago teacher Ginny Melanson, sit down to discuss & commiserate about their first week back after being pushed into unsafe classrooms.

We also discuss how Lori Lightfoot broke the CTU, and how the future of education is dependent on educators uniting in solidarity with students and parents to empower one another.

We had a blast talking with each other and hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed recording it.

  • 54 - Brutally Honest - Adam and Sammie discuss relationships between racism, property rights and police violence

Sammie and Adam sit down to discuss relationships between racism, property rights and police violence in the deeply diseased region of Southeast Michigan. The disheartening tales of these communities are woven into the broader understanding of why community action is so important, especially as Biden compels teachers and children to die for standardized tests. Don't enable Biden, this country is fucked up.
