Psalm 110 is only seven verses long, yet it is filled with deep doctrinal truth. It reveals the divine order of God the Father and shows Jesus Christ seated at the right hand of God. Elder James teaches that Jesus Christ has the authority to give eternal life to all those the Father has given Him. He has already defeated death through His work on the cross. Yet there is a coming day when we will be changed, and all enemies will be placed under His feet. Elder James shares the comforting message that there will be a great multitude in Heaven, where we will sing praise forever.

In the Book of Isaiah chapter 11, we see the prophecy of a branch growing from the trunk of Jesse, pointing to the Lord Jesus Christ. In Isaiah 12, it speaks to our present New Testament day. Elder Danny teaches that Jesus has brought us peace with God, that God’s anger has been turned away, and that we can draw strength from the assurance that we are going to glory. He emphasizes that we can draw joy from the doctrine of salvation by grace, and encourages the church members to praise Him and celebrate with thankfulness.

Through Joseph’s life and leadership, the children of Israel were spared in Egypt. As Elder Chris points out, Joseph learned leadership while serving as a shepherd. Feeding the flock is vital in the lives of men God calls to lead His people in powerful ways, including ministers today. Our Chief Shepherd was concerned with feeding His Father’s sheep while on earth, and He still is today at the right hand of God.

The Apostle Paul points out that the blood of bulls and goats, offered over hundreds of years, could never take away sin. In contrast, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from dead works to serve the living God. Elder Chris proclaims that Jesus entered Heaven—the Holiest of all—once on our behalf, and God is fully and forever satisfied with us through Him.

While the Apostle Paul was in prison, considered a traitor, he wasn’t concerned about himself, he was busy doing the Lord’s work. Elder James encourages us that regardless of our situations, we can be a light for others. He encourages us to go about our spiritual vocation with lowliness, meekness, and long-suffering.

In a trying time for John the Baptist, he asked, “Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?” The way Christ responds to one of His children is especially important here. He tells John to hear again of the many miracles being done, but He also includes the preaching of the gospel to the poor as equal in significance. Then Christ gives John something he needs to hear—an announcement that is rare and precious: “Blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.” Brother Paul considers several reasons why we might be offended in Him. Though we may face persecution for standing up for Christ, we can rejoice because we have eternal life.

Christ brought a better offering through a greater priesthood. In Hebrews 8:6, the Apostle Paul begins to contrast the Old and New Testaments, showing that Christ is the mediator of a better covenant, established on better promises. Elder Chris encourages us to draw closer to the One who forgives sins by grace—something the Old Testament could never accomplish.
