(Part 5) You’re here for a reason, even if you don’t realize it!

Ever since I can remember, I knew my meaning of life was to be a dad…

And as I got older the clues made more sense.

My dad passing away at 6 months old had to happen, losing my uncle at 15 had to happen, each miscarriage had to happen for me to be the man I am today with the mission I have in my heart.

Remember I told you I wanted to be a blogger on day 3 of this 5 part series?

Sure, it would have been great to make money from it but deep down inside I had this voice telling me that it was time to turn my meaning of life into purpose.

Even though I failed at blogging, the voice never went away, if anything, it had gotten louder throughout the years. The dream became more clear and the vision turned from helping dads to me being on stage helping thousands of men.

All I was missing was a way to get started…

That’s when, in that very instant, I realized the only difference between a blog, vlog and a podcast are the mediums but everything else is the same.

Writing scared the life out of me but put me on a camera or microphone and I can go for hours.

I was ecstatic!

It’s kind of like doing math. There are many ways to do multiplication or division but the result is always the same.

Immediately that day I bought the domain, registered the podcast, and got started.

My plan was to podcast daily for a year with the goal of mastering my storytelling and figuring out my voice.

Once the adrenaline wore off, questions like what are you going to talk about, how are you going to market it and others, popped to the front of my mind but they didn’t matter. I knew WHY I wanted to start a podcast and I knew I would figure out HOW as I went.

I developed the habit of learning daily a long time ago and this was going to be my way of giving daily so I named it the GIVE And GROW Daily podcast.

(Part 4) Do you really think money is the key to everything in life?

The truth is that as dads we get caught up in providing…

That word stands out more than any other word as a father.

By now you know…

I made a decision to be the dad I never had growing up, which means being loving, caring, encouraging, patient, present, and ALSO provide financially the life they deserve.

Just like you, I want to give my kids the opportunity to be exactly who they wish to be.

I left corporate life because it only fulfilled the money aspect of it.

I wouldn’t settle for that.

But seeing your savings account get to Zero and having no income coming in is a scary place to be.

I had failed as a blogger and on top of that my wife was about to be due with our second child.

Imagine being in my shoes??? What would you do???

I told my wife I was going to stop being a dreamer and I was going to go back to where I had been successful, I’m going back to the corporate world.

I’ve mentioned this before, I have the most amazing wife, who was just as scared as I was but said “NO!”

No, because we had come so far and it just felt like we needed time for everything that we were doing to grow.

She told me, “we just need to make enough to pay the bills while this grows”

That led us to both working at Instacart, she became an online teacher and I learned how to do Facebook ads. All with the purpose of buying ourselves time to keep learning the skills we need to be able to make our dreams come true but more on that tomorrow.

If You Could Travel The World With Your Family And Make Money, Wouldn’t You?

[Part 3 of 5 part series]

By now I had learned that climbing the corporate ladder wasn’t my solution to providing for my family and being present.

and

That sacrificing today for tomorrow wasn’t something I was willing to do.

You see, I had a burning desire to figure out how to provide the dream life I envisioned for my family, while at the same time be the AMAZING dad I never had.

So of course I did the next logical thing…

I grabbed my wife and 1-year-old son and jumped on a 5-hour flight to Peru. I told my family I was going to become a blogger…

A what??? They asked.

“Don’t worry you’ll see” I’ll be making money online in no time.

Let’s backtrack for a second… When I first started learning marketing at Shula’s I remember seeing a big picture of how I could grow that company but also how “someday” I could share my passion online and impact others.

Sharing my message and helping others always felt like the thing I would end up doing. My true passion and purpose. I just didn’t have the money to get started, or so I told myself

The moment I walked out of Carnival, I had over 6 months of an emergency fund and a healthy 401K so I figured there was no better time than now.

I read the 4 Hour Workweek in a weekend, bought a blogging course, and took off with the plan that we would travel across South America, enjoy our experiences as a family and I would fund our journey by blogging. Doesn’t that just sound lovely???

But as we all know, not all stories have a happy ending…

Yes, I created a beautiful blog with all the widgets and gadgets. We had landing pages, we had subscribers, we created a course and ebook, we even had sales!

You name it, we had it.

Unfortunately, I failed miserably.

I couldn’t put my passion and purpose in front of an old story I used to tell myself of not being creative. I let my doubt and fear dictate my actions. I never published one article. I let our family down.

Instead, I took care of marketing and all the backend stuff you can imagine an online business has to do (yes coding is part of them).

My AMAZING wife stepped up and created the content because we needed it, she was put between a rock and a hard place, and chose to be strong while I crumbled.

At that moment it felt like a failure but I can now look back and see that is was a much-needed step on our journey but
