How do we handle conflict? We can get swept up in trying to protect our reputation, retreating, or we can step into our role as ambassadors for Christ and seek the Kingdom. In this passage, Paul experiences a huge pushback from Ephesians for sharing God's identity. The Ephesians see the gospel as a threat to their manmade kingdoms. While our flesh may understand, it's crucial for us to follow the Spirit's leading above all else.
In today's message, Paul exhorts the Philippians to stand together spiritually united in the face of opposition and hostility, and to live in a manner that is worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul's message is equally applicable to the church today as then. Since we have been saved by grace, born again and adopted into the family of God through Christ, our response must be a life that reflects this truth. The authentic follower of Christ should not merely live the gospel with their lips, but more importantly, with their life . As we are reminded in Luke 12:48, to everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required. We are called to honour Him with the gifts He has graciously and freely given to us. A genuine understanding and gratefulness of our status in Jesus Christ will result in our service to him.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" (ESV). Paul understands the incredible reality of being 'made new' in Christ. Before Christ, he was dead in sin, but now he is truly alive in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The promise of his future heavenly reward caused him to live his earthly life with urgency. Paul's letter is an encouragement to live courageously and joyfully in the midst of opposition, knowing our final destination is not in this world but in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Join us now as we begin an encouraging and edifying walk through Paul's letter to the Philippians. The apostle Paul knew the incomparable treasure, unsurpassed power and joy found in knowing Christ. To compromise and redirect the focus of his worship towards anything other than Jesus was not an option for Paul, nor should it be for us. Nothing compares to the immeasurable joy in knowing the love of Christ. Paul reminds us that as Christ-followers, we can rejoice in the knowledge that our citizenship is not here on earth, but we are indeed Citizens of Heaven!
From sunrise and sunset, we need the Lord. For strength, courage, bravery, compassion, and faith does not happen from our own merits, but by the Lord's grace. As we go throughout our week, we encounter situations and people that need Him. In this message, Pastor Robbie preaches on the encouragement the Lord gave Paul when he faces dissent and persecution. Cling to the Lord's Word, for he will never forsake you!

Most people would agree that it is not very difficult to reciprocate love to someone who loves and treats you well. We'll even go to extreme lengths to demonstrate affection to those we care for, no matter the cost. But what about people who dislike, hurt, persecute or even, hate you? In our flesh, it seems unreasonable to expect someone to return love for hate, and kindness for cruelty, but that is exactly what Jesus calls us to do! Christ consistently showed love and compassion towards his enemies, even washing Judas' feet while knowing that Judas would betray him the following day. Jesus loved us and died for us when we were still his enemies and did not know him. He demonstrates true, unconditional love as an example to emmulate. We are not to love as the world loves, but to love exceptionally, as Jesus did. The bar has been raised!
