Nehemiah wrote, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” 

This message focuses on the life of Peter in Luke 5 and John 21.  Both episodes include a miraculous catch of fish that was designed by Jesus to get Peter’s attention. The life of Peter reminds us that Jesus calls complex, broken people and that walking with Jesus requires a lifetime of growth and change.

In Peter’s life, knowing God looks like “walking closely with Jesus.”  Building people looks like “inviting people into your boat and spending time together.”  Sharing hope looks like “restoring others to God’s love and inviting them to serve!”

If you are abiding in Christ and leaning on the Spirit, God will produce fruit in you and through you. John 15:16

We are on mission with Jesus by knowing God. Let’s spend 2024 getting to know God better by seeking him, repenting of our sin, believing in the promises of God, abiding in the word, and not resisting the Holy Spirit. Seeking God results in knowing God—His word, His ways, and His Will!

The mission of Jesus is discipleship -- build people and change the world! Matthew 4:18-22; Matthew 28:18-20

As we move toward Christmas -- the celebration of Jesus arriving as a baby in Bethlehem, we are reminded that Jesus promised to come again at a place called the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24-25)!  In his 1st advent, he came as a baby in a manger and fulfilled the role of the suffering servant in Isaiah 53.  In his 2nd coming, he will return as a conquering warrior and judge of the whole earth (See Revelation 19:1-6).

Christmas reminds us that Jesus came down to lift us up.

“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” ~ Luke 6:47-48

The health of any church depends on the number of ministers and ministries functioning in the church. A key question for the local church is “how many active ministry leaders and ministries do we have functioning in our church?”, not "How many meetings, programs or Bible studies do we conduct?" Sending capacity is always more important than seating capacity.  Ephesians 4:11-16
