Why did God create the world? In this episode, Miriam teaches three profound answers from Kabbalistic tradition, each one a different window into the mystery of existence.
Drawing from the Alter Rebbe, the AriZal, and the Tanya, she explores:
1. The nature of good is to do good. God's very essence is boundless goodness, and goodness must give. Creation is the ultimate act of generosity.
2. To extract His potential. A king without a kingdom is not fully a king. God created the world so His names, attributes, and infinite qualities could be expressed and known.
3. God desired a dwelling in the lower realms. The deepest reason of all: not for the higher worlds, but for this one. We are the purpose.

A portion of this week's Live Kabbalah class with Rabbi Amichai Cohen on the letter Yud — the smallest letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and yet the single point from which every other letter begins. We explore the Yud as the place where the infinite first touches the finite, the scribe's first stroke and the white parchment beneath the black letters, the flash of Chochmah that arrives from nothingness, the pintele Yid within every soul, and the meditation of "Potei'ach et yadecha" — opening our hands to give and to receive.

In this teaching we begin Tanya Chapter 10 and enter the idea of the tzaddik, the truly righteous individual. We explore how fear can become trust and reactivity can become passion, the difference between the incomplete and the complete tzaddik, and the reminder that each of us carries a point of the tzaddik within. Once we have tasted living in alignment, anything outside of it begins to feel foreign to us, and that tender sensitivity is a sign that the soul is rising.

This is a portion of our weekly Live Kabbalah class, continuing our journey through the Hebrew letters with the letter Tet (ט) — the gate of gestation, of trust, and of becoming.
Tet is the letter of tov, of goodness, and it carries the hidden light (the ohr haganuz): the reminder that what is good is often quietly ripening, concealed, before it is ever revealed. We explore the shape and meaning of the letter, the hidden light woven into the soul of Moshe, and what it means to trust the slow, sacred work of becoming.
This is only the opening teaching. The full class — with the deeper teaching and a guided meditation — continues inside Live Kabbalah.

This is a portion of Miriam's weekly Own Your Light class — the opening teaching from our continued study of Chapter 9 of the Tanya. The full class continues inside Live Kabbalah.
In this teaching, Miriam explores the two forces within each of us — the divine soul and the animal soul — and the two honest ways the Tanya gives us to work with our shadow side: iscafia, a healthy kind of subduing, and is'hapcha, the deeper work of transformation. She opens up the difference between a fiery love that senses distance from G-d and the calmer, pleasurable love that knows we are always connected, and why being grounded and embodied is itself a way of serving G-d. The class fell on Gimmel Tammuz, the yahrzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and carries so much of his message.

This teaching is a portion of our weekly Light Warrior Circle class at Live Kabbalah, part of the ongoing series on the Mystery of the Hebrew Letters.
Here we open the eighth gate of the Hebrew alphabet, the letter Chet. Its name carries cheit, to miss the mark, and yet the very same letter begins chaim, life. We explore the polarity built into each of us, the shape of the Chet as both an opening to fall and a container that holds our life, and a question worth sitting with: where have I mistaken closure for protection?
The full class continues into chametz and matzah, the number eight and what lives above nature, and a guided meditation.

A short Torah teaching for Parshat Beha’alotcha based on the Ba’al Shem Tov’s inner explanation of the trumpet blast called Teruah, תרועה.
In the parsha, the trumpets are used to gather the people, guide their journeys, and awaken Divine remembrance. The Ba’al Shem Tov reveals that Teruah is not only an external sound. It is an inner call that breaks through distraction, gathers the scattered parts of the soul, and awakens the heart to return to G-d.
On Shavuot, we celebrate the giving of the Torah — but the Talmud tells us that the angels objected. They wanted the Torah to remain in Heaven, in its pure spiritual state.
In this class, Rabbi Amichai Cohen explores the deeper meaning of Moshe’s response to the angels and why the Torah was given specifically to human beings.
Angels are holy, but they do not struggle in the same way we do. They do not live with ego, desire, relationships, pain, free choice, or the constant possibility of falling and rising. Human beings, however, can choose. We can transform. We can take the physical world itself and reveal G-dliness within it.
This is the deeper gift of Shavuot: Torah comes down into the body, into our emotions, into our relationships, into our homes, and into the choices we make every day.
A teaching on free choice, inner transformation, the angels, the two loaves of Shavuot, and the unique holiness of being human.
May we receive the Torah anew with joy, depth, and inner transformation.

Every year on the holiday of Shavuot, we receive the Torah anew. A new light enters the world, and a new channel opens in our relationship with the Divine and with ourselves.
So often, we carry subconscious beliefs about G-d and Torah that are rooted in fear. Yet at the giving of the Torah, G-d first spoke to the women — with softness and tenderness.
Shavuot is an invitation to open our minds, hearts, and bodies to receive the Torah in a new way. To connect to G-d not through fear or pressure, but through gentleness, receptivity, and love.

In this class from Tanya, we explore the inner power hidden inside everyday life. Nothing is random— every moment carries the potential to reveal or conceal the oneness of G-d in the world.
We learn how even the most physical parts of life can become elevated when connected to intention, And even when we fall into distraction or self-focus, we discover that nothing is ever truly lost — everything can be lifted and returned to its source.
This is about learning to live with awareness, softness, and power — turning ordinary life into something quietly sacred.
