We kick off season 2 with a recap of season 1. The show just turned 1 year old on 9/28/2020, so I thought it was a great chance to discuss what we talked about through this whole unexepected ride that we’ve been on over the past year. We cover some of the concepts, subjects and discussion points over the last year, and though on what’s to come and some of the changes and additions being made to the show. The most important ingredient we’ll be adding is intent with the next season of the show, and much of that is thanks to the listeners for your continued support. This episode was recorded in my personal paradise- Cape Cod, Massachusetts (excuse the poor audio- the mobile mic wasn’t the best). This place is my ultimate getaway where we stay for part of the summer to recharge and unwind. But in the past, I had relied on this place to get me through my tough times. I thought that coming here was going to make all the problems disappear, but it didn’t. I learned that my mindset had to change coming into vacation so that I could be there fully. A recent loss in the family inspired this episode. We recently last our four-legged friend Caesar who brought joy to us for 14 years. Looking back on the opportunity to be a part of that little life was what brought gratitude to the situation to overcome grief. When those closest to us stepped up in a show of support, there was gratitude for having those people support us. But then there was the thought of “where has ____ been, why don’t they care enough to reach out” brought resentment and discourse. Heath talks about how to process the thoughts of when people don’t show up for us in the way that we had hoped. The concept of looking at our lives like a bus ride, that people get on and off of at different times has helped put things into perspective when thinking about those who are no longer there in our lives.
