The Israelites are circumcised as an outward sign of their inward faith, much like our profession of faith through baptism. They also have their first Passover meal as a nation in their new land. Then the Commander of God's Army appears to Joshua to show Him that He will be fighting with them in their upcoming battles.

When God reveals Himself to us, do we see Him for who He is and follow Him, or do we resist? When the people of Jericho saw God's power revealed through Israel, everyone resisted Him but Rahab. Because she feared Israel's God more than the king of Jericho and since she placed her trust in Him over their armies, she was saved. She was a prostitute (a sinful woman) yet God saved her because she placed her faith in Him. After her rescue, she lived with Israel, following God the rest of her life. God is willing to save any sinner that is willing to acknowledge who He is and follow Him. He wants everyone to profess their faith in Him and make Him their Lord and Savior.
Also, is it ever alright to lie?

Often times, God fights for us and we just get to enjoy the victory. But sometimes He asks us to fight too. Life isn't perfect just because we choose to follow the Lord. God wants us to prove our faith in Him by acting on it. Sometimes that takes courage. The comfort isn't that He takes away all our troubles but that He is with us in the midst of them and that He is able to supply us with all we need even when things are hard.

First we will look back on the life of Moses, then we will reflect on our own. Life is short and we want to spend wisely and in a way that pleases the Lord.

The song of Moses. Who we are in comparison to who God is. Do we have our Father's traits? He gives us so much, yet like a spoilt child, we often act unappreciative and rebellious. God won't make us remain faithful. But when we reject Him and His ways, we reject everything else that He has to offer. No where else will we find such power, love, blessings, joy, or peace. He gives us everything we need. So why would we reject it to go our own way.

Sometimes God's laws can feel overwhelming or restrictive. He's given us Ten Commandments, things we have to do or things that we can't do. These laws can make us feel like a failure or maybe we feel accomplished. We might obey out of fear or self-righteousness instead of looking at His laws as they were intended. Jesus made it simple. The sum of the law is this: love God and love your neighbor. Then you will fulfill the laws of God. There are not really ten but two. The first four teach us how to love God and the last six teach us how to love each other. It's not about rules, it's about having a relationship with our God and fostering better relationships with others.

In this Instagram age, it is easier than ever to see someone else's life and wish that we had what they have. The Tenth Commandments warns against coveting and elsewhere it says that coveting is actually self-idolatry. We are putting these things on a pedestal. The new house, the new car, the awesome vacation, the perfect little family, the new job, the different life. When we focusing on the treasures of this earth, we lose sight of the eternal treasures of God.
In this episode, we talk about why this matters so much to God and how we can shift our focus. This is scripture heavy. More of God's Word and less of Courtney's. It is thought-provoking and will hopefully help you shift your focus to the best treasures as it did me.
