Living Between Wednesdays episodes

  • Episode 131 - Dreamcasting the New Gods Movie

Rachelle and Dave both have colds this week. Dave spent his sick days creating a very thorough list of actors he would like to see cast in the newly announced New Gods movie.

Hillary joins the podcast again to talk about the last two episodes of The X-Files. Also discussed in this episode: the new Infinity War trailer and poster; Rob Liefeld's Netflix deal; The Cutting Edge (for no relevant reason); and the hotness of Jorge Jimenez.

  • Episode 130 - Superhero Makeovers

This week Rachelle and Dave are talking about those story arcs where a creator just completely changes a character and makes them their own. And then that character stays like that forever. Think Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run, or Frank Miller's Daredevil run, or Walt Simonson's Thor run.

They are also joined once again by Hillary to talk about the latest episode of The X-Files. Also this week: a new release date for Avengers: Infinity War; a bunch of new creative team announcements over at Marvel; a new Sandman universe over at DC, and thoughts on this week's comics.

  • Episode 129 - Black Panther

Black Panther came out this past week and it was SO. GOOD.

Rachelle and Dave have lots of thoughts. Dave also sits down with Leslie Amegavie, a die-hard Black Panther fan who emigrated to Nova Scotia from Ghana. Leslie saw the movie four times during opening weekend, so he's pretty pumped about it.

Also in this episode: another installment of This Week in Winter Soldier (for obvious reasons), and some very brief thoughts on this week's comics and comic book news.

    Wakanda Forever!

  • Episode 128 - Superhero Matchmaking

Happy Valentine's Day! And Happy Black Panther Eve!

Rachelle and Dave loosely talk about some of their favourite romantic moments in comics, and suggest some possible superhero romantic pairings.

They are once again joined by Hillary to talk about the final episode of The X-Files before that show goes on hiatus. Also in this episode: lots of trailers and casting rumours that aren't of interest to anyone who hosts this podcast; Rachelle loses her mind over The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang; and some thoughts on the Marvel Studios 10 Year Anniversary class photo.

  • Episode 127 - The Positive Influence of Super Heroes

This week Rachelle and Dave are considering the positive impact super heroes have had on who they are today. And also, why so many people who claim to love super heroes are total racist monsters.

They are joined again by Hillary to talk about the latest episode of The X-Files. Also in this episode: lots of new trailers (which sparks a heated discussion); new imprints at DC; and a very special installment of This Week in Winter Soldier.

  • Episode 126 - Schedule Stress

With major publishers moving titles to bi-weekly and even weekly schedules, Rachelle and Dave talk about the impact that has on their own buying behaviour, and on the industry as a whole.

They are joined once again by Hillary to talk about the latest episode of the X-Files. Also in this episode: the first images of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel; Black Panther breaks some ticket pre-sale records; Jon Malin takes himself out of the game; Logan gets nominated for an Oscar; and another installment of this Week in Winter Soldier.

    1 hr 43 min
  • Episode 125 - Embarrassing Comic Book Purchases

Dave and Rachelle are joined by Hillary Titley and Denzel Noylander to talk about their most embarrassing comic book purchases. Rachelle and Hillary came straight from a screening of Call Me By Your Name to record this episode, so they are a little distracted.

Also in this episode: all the latest comic book news, thoughts on last week's comics, and Hillary guides us through the latest episode of The X-Files.

    1 hr 14 min
  • Episode 124 - Fandom!

Rachelle and Dave are once again joined by Hillary to talk about fandom. The ladies especially have a lot to say about their own experiences interacting with fandoms from the early days of the internet to now, when you can basically just DM Chris Evans on Twitter and tell him to grow his beard back. These are crazy times.

Also in this episode: all the latest comic book news, thoughts on last week's comics, and Hillary's thoughts on the latest episode of The X-Files.

    1 hr 29 min
  • Episode 123 - Comic Book Sequels

In this episode, Rachelle and Dave wonder if there has ever been a good comic book event sequel. The short answer is...sort of. Not really. Maybe a couple.

They are joined this week by Dave's better half, Hillary Titley, who is excited about the return of the X-Files. She has some thoughts on the first episode of the new season. In a very loose installment of 'This Week in Winter Soldier', Dave and Hillary talk about I, Tonya, which they both saw earlier that day.

Also in this episode: the latest comic news, thoughts on last week's comics, and a few comments about the Golden Globes.

    1 hr 33 min
  • Episode 122 - Comic Book Resolutions

Rachelle and Dave are back after a week off with some resolutions for the comic book industry. This week's episode also debuts the brand new theme song written, performed and recorded by their good friend, Wordburglar!

Also in this episode: thoughts on the comics from two weeks ago because last week's comics were delayed due to the holidays; the return of This Week in Winter Soldier, and Marvel wants you to make comics for free for them or something?
