Today I’m sharing why I’m taking a social media break in September and the positive ways it’s impacted my life—especially during such a challenging season in the world. I open up about going from 90% to 100% known with my friends and what that freedom feels like—fully known and fully loved. I reflect on the value of life, how I spend my time off social media living a rich and meaningful life, and how processing something so traumatic feels different when you step away from the online noise. What an amazing episode with Allie Marie Smith where we talk about some really profound reasons why we should all consider how much time we’re giving to social media. Truly, this is one of the most–if not the most–impactful conversations I’ve had about social media, with God right at the center of it all.

We talked about how other people’s memories can start to feel like ours, how we were made for personal, in-real-life communities of about 150 people, how we were never designed to take in this much information, what our hands were actually created to do, and why we feel so stuck in dissatisfaction and comparison.
