Today’s episode is a solo one. As you may note from the title of the episode I am sharing 28 things I know for sure and you can for sure count Rest as one of the things I am listing. 

I started doing this in 2019 and this year will be the 3rd year. What has been beautiful about doing this is that you are able to see how far you’ve come, what has changed, how you may be looking at things differently, what may have stayed the same. Just like monthly reflection, except for now, the changes are quite visible and sometimes drastic because years have passed.

So here’s my 28 list of things I know for sure, be mindful that this is all based on my personal experiences and therefore I derived my truth on that. If it resonates with you and I must grab coffee one day, if it doesn’t just stay open and keep listening.

Today’s episode is a guest episode, I sat down with Mpumi Mayisa to uncover her healing journey. This is one part of our conversation, the second part of this conversation will be released on Thursday this week.

Mpumi Mayisa is a poet, photographer, podcaster, educational art program designer, and event curator based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is passionate about using her gifts to advocate for human expansion and healing. Her background in education and event photography has given her insight into the seemingly small yet healthy social ingredients missing from the world she finds herself in. She has used these insights as seeds for inspiration to dream up the ideas, programs, and events that she executes in an effort to create new, rich realities that help nourish the seeds of creativity and self-healing.

Since founding Among The Lilies in 2017, she has curated Ode To The Woman, Book Socials, and The Open Mic Experiment that provides artists with a platform to express their creative power, find or share their voices, collaborate, and learn to give themselves permission to breathe easy in their own bodies.

Mpumi flowers open when she has a pen in the grip of her tiny fingers and enjoys the simple pleasure of stringing words together to form true to life and potent stories. She is currently working on her debut poetry collection.

Today's episode is our first guest episode, I invited Mapule Peggy Ntsepe for a conversation on healing. We journeyed through her healing journey as she unpacks some of her childhood trauma, her journey back to home to self, the work that she does, and she also wraps up this episode with her beautiful affirming words. For me she is such a well of wisdom and I love how she shares, after our first IGlive I certainly wanted more.  This episode is loaded with so many gems from Peggy.

Peggy Ntsepe is a social/creative and education entrepreneur, design researcher, social impact advocate, and public speaker. Her career is built on creating sustainable networks and ecosystems in our black communities. She firmly believes in having important transformational conversations, this becomes the vehicle that allows previously disadvantaged communities to participate in the socio-economic activities that influence local and global change.

She is the co-founder of Enkambini Creative Hub, a creative business that focuses on transformation through creativity. She also founded Change That Happens Podcast, a platform that explores spiritual transformational conversations. Peggy also runs She Imagines, a project under her NGO Change That Happens, she facilitates the programme #GirlsLead that focuses on women/girl leadership.

Happy new month! We are now within the month of March. Here’s to a new soul replenishing and transformative month. May these new 31 days open to you another layer of yourself to show you the greatness that you are capable of. 

Today I wanted to talk about learning to show up for yourself in ways you needed someone to, by that I mean learning to grant yourself the love you needed someone to grant you. And we know any form of self-love starts with cultivating nurturing thoughts that are affirming to us. It should be that when you sit with yourself in solitude, you are able to befriend all of you and it’s a safe space that you can visit very often to remind yourself of the truth that is you. We cannot use the same voice, language, and tone that taught us to be hard on ourselves to heal ourselves.
