  • Past That Pursues You | Deliver Us: From the Lord Comes Deliverance

Exodus 14:5-31 | The Exodus was one of the greatest stories of deliverance of all time. However, it did not take long for two things to happen after God brought his people out of Egypt. First, Israel learned dessert life would not be as easy as they thought. Then, the past became more attractive than the present. At the same time, the soldiers of Egypt were sent to bring them back. Both inside and out, they were being pursued by their past. Letting go of the past is one thing. Getting the past to let go of us is another. Rather than healing wounds, time often causes us to rewrite how we got them. Sometimes even a bad past can seem more desirable than a difficult present. When that happens, we need God’s deliverance all over again.

  • Storms That Confuse You | Deliver Us: From the Lord Comes Deliverance

Acts 27:13-26 | The storm was not a person or group. It was a circumstance in life beyond anyone’s control. There are times when finances, health, job, or something else seem to blow your plans away. In those times you have no way to get to shore on your own strength. You lose perspective and your bearings. But then it comes. Not deliverance from the storm, but through it. Deliverance begins when you realize God sees you and you can count on him. The storm may blow you off the course you thought or planned. God may be using it to blow you onto the course he wants. When that happens, he used the storm to deliver you.

  • Lions Around You | Deliver Us: From the Lord Comes Deliverance

Daniel 6:1-23 | There are times when you do right, and everything seems to go wrong. When that happens, you see no way out. You pray for deliverance and it does not come. But the lions do. You need a miracle to get you through the night until you can see the light of day. Deliverance does not always come by removing you from the danger. Sometimes God delivers by holding back the danger. Deliverance means God is able to keep you alive in the dark until you can again see the light.

  • Discouragement Within You | Deliver Us: From the Lord Comes Deliverance

1 Kings 19:1-18 | Fear, depression, and discouragement often come when we are tired and isolated. For years, Elijah had lived in seclusion and had to depend on God for his next meal each day. Miracles were an everyday occurrence for him to simply stay alive. God was always able. But Elijah was still human. When God was ready, he moved Elijah closer to the confrontation. But he was also moving closer to the mountain. When discouragement takes over, God can and may deliver through a mighty miracle. But sometimes deliverance comes in a still quiet voice to your soul. Destruction can come in front of all or when all alone. Deliverance can as well.

  • Giants Against You | Deliver Us: From the Lord Comes Deliverance

1 Samuel 17:32-50 | Goliath was someone and something David and Israel had never seen. He was one of the original bullies. He was bigger, stronger, more brazen, and more dangerous. None could face him because his size and strength intimidated them all. But when David arrived, he first heard about Goliath with fresh ears. As he did, something stirred in his soul. God grabbed David’s heart and the battle began before he ever saw his opponent. The others were afraid in their own strength. But David saw through the eyes of faith. He had been prepared for that moment. He ran toward the giant because his faith gave him strength. The giants are the bullies of faith. They intimidate and evoke fear. Bigger and stronger, they leave us only two real choices. Surrender in defeat, or trust God to deliver. When the giants come, the issue is our faith not our strength.
