This weekend we continued live streaming our series on prayer. Our goal is to transform our prayer lives for the rest of our lives. We know that without prayer, we miss out on some fantastic benefits. However, prayer can be a challenge for many. We can move it to the low end of priorities in our lives. Yesterday we looked at a short portion of Scripture to see that Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. He always made it a priority. As we enter in to what looks like to be an extended time apart from each other my prayer for you is to connect with God on a deeper level than you ever have. In times of testing, our roots must grow deep. I would encourage you to connect with someone each week to see how they are doing and pray for them. One of our missionaries that we support gave some great advice: "With no sporting events to watch, no movie theaters to attend, no shopping malls to hang out in, what better time to reconnect with our families and play games, focus on and discuss life issues, encourage each other, focus upon or watch uplifting movies together and then discuss them. As we enter in to a brand new week of adjusting, keep in mind that God will never put you in a place where you cannot obey God and glorify him. This week, look to give love and hope to those around you. Make true confession and repentance a part of your prayer life. May God shed his grace on our nation and the world. Reach out to those on the fringe and make the most of every opportunity. Remember Daniel's prayer, "O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.” I love you all! We live in interesting times. These are times for the church to show that we live with faith in the Savior of the world. Today we will begin a new series on one of the most important practices of any Christian: Prayer. Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" This weekend we welcomed Pastor Rachael Jenneman, our own Children’s Pastor to the pulpit. We’ve all heard the quotes, Follow your dreams! and, If you work hard enough your dreams will come true! Dreaming big is a wonderful tool that God uses to bring about miracles and glorify himself. However, there are things in life that are outside of our control. Because of that, God may ask us at times to lay down our dreams, our desires, and our expectations of what we planned life so that his dreams may be fulfilled.
