In this episode, I’m talking about the pressure to be less — and how freeing it is to finally stop shrinking. There will always be people who are more comfortable when you’re quieter, less expressive, less bold. But those people aren’t your people. So many of us tone ourselves down because we’re scared of being judged or embarrassed. We’ve learned to dim our personality because at some point, someone made us feel like we were “too much.” But why do we silence ourselves for being exactly who we are? That habit didn’t start with us — it started with the moments we were shut down in the past, and now we do it to ourselves before anyone else gets the chance.
I also share how inspired I’ve been by Poppy Wright and her unapologetically bubbly personality. She is joyful, loud, colorful, optimistic — and she never once apologizes for it. She doesn’t water herself down to make others comfortable. Watching her is such a reminder that being vibrant isn’t something to be embarrassed about — it’s something to own. I’ve tried to be the mysterious, quiet girl before, and it felt so unnatural because it wasn’t me. And when you live performing a personality instead of embodying your own, it creates confusion, insecurity, and fear.
