Letting go of things that don't matter.

Can you imagine a church with no volunteer leaders? I can't either. Where would we be as a church without all the volunteers at Living Rock that give of their time and talent to minister to the body? It would be impossible to do what God has called us to do. Two groups of leaders in our church are elders and trustees. Because of the growth and needs of our body, we need to set aside more leaders to fill these two roles. So today we will take a look at the qualities that these leaders should have. I need you to pray that we will be led by the Lord to those our church needs for a time like this.

Last week Pastor Billy mentioned the idea of a time machine that would let us look ahead and see what life would be like in 2019. What would we be found doing? He asked the question, would we be found grateful and thankful? This week: will 2019 find you on your knees praying, worshiping and lost in His grace?

Wouldn't it be interesting if we had some sort of time machine and could look forward and see what our lives would be lie in 2019? What so you think you might see? What would you find yourself doing? Would it be just 2018 repeated or would it be different? If you could look in on your walk with the Lord what would you want it to look like?

Jesus is left in the temple by his parents. But from this story, we learn why Jesus came even at a young age.

THE KING WHO TRIED TO KLL CHRISTMAS

Herod was not the kind of king that anyone would want to live under. He was evil and wanted to eliminate anyone he thought might interfere with his kingdom. When he learns about Jesus being born he hatches a plan to get rid of him. He was offended that people were talking about another KING!! The name of Jesus still offends people today.

"And he sent them to Bethlehem saying, 'Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may worship him'" Matthew 2:8

Paul continues with the practical part of this letter to the Colossians. He told them what to put off earlier in chapter 3. Now he instructs them on what to put on. They should put on compassion, kindness humility, gentleness, and patience. Of course none of this is possible on our own, but only as we yield to the Lord and love others.
