In our final devotional studying the wonder of God's blessings in Psalm 87, we recognize that in Him, we thirst no more. The living water within us has brought us blessings of life and joy. But it's not just for us! The Psalm describes the water as flowing from us and giving life to others.

As we continue our study of Psalm 87, we can study the context of the passage. The Old Testament is filled with prophecies and references that portray the favorable time of God toward the Jewish nation in the future. He will gather them into the land of promise and will restore the temple and bless their land.

God speaks to us in a metaphor as He says “All my springs of joy are in you” in Psalm 87:7. The metaphor for us, His blessed ones, is that the fountain of blessings within us flows forth and blesses others.

Psalm 34:1 says, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” It’s a reminder that I need further spiritual maturity in order to live and breathe in the Spirit with a stream of consciousness that is soaked in the awareness of the presence of God. Join me on that journey today.

Psalm 81 reveals God’s love for us and his longing to bless us. He doesn’t merely promise us food, but the sweetness of honey. It also shows us that God wants us to listen and obey Him! He gives us a life sweet like honey, when we seek the Lord and follow his ways.
