Having cut his teeth in the early 00s Paris underground scene, Maxime started out his career as a DJ alongside DJ Wild at the infamous Les Bains Douches, before going on to launch his own queer parties - ‘Cockorico’ and ‘Le Bal Con’ - enacting a deep commitment to supporting alternative queer scenes, and a growing passion for dark, sensual beats. As a current resident of Ellen Allien’s We Are Not Alone parties, he possesses a learned understanding of how to build precise sonic atmospheres that are tense and beautiful in equal measure.

With his third EP for BPitch - Earth - Maxime explores a fine-tuned affinity for gothic aesthetics and heavy rhythmic frameworks, crafting four expertly arranged cuts of wonderfully eerie techno for the early hours.

‘CRTSTTURLGTN’ opens with flecks of acid floating around in space, before quickly descending into madness with a powerful kick and heady distortions.

With ''Do You Think @bout Me'', Maxime plummets us into an alternate world of echoey glitches and haunting vocals driven by a hammerdrill pattern of hi hats and snares. Opening up into vaster expanses, title track ‘Earth’ takes its foot off the gas briefly for a slightly sparser cut of ambient-influenced techno that feels like an acid trip in the woods at night. Finally, the cheekily titled ‘Work Babe’ jumps onto a funked-up bassline for one last spiral at the end of the night.

Earth is an homage to the spaces that have influenced Maxime throughout a lifetime of commitment to supporting the underground.

It’s also an irresistibly danceable package of sleazy, unrelenting techno.

This Belfast-born stalwart has been an underground mainstay for almost 20 years. He continually operates at the sharp end of the scene with a mix of cutting-edge sound designs and compelling rhythms imbued with found sound and spoken word details. He’s had high-profile support from tastemakers like Laurent Garnier, DVS1 and Truncate and following on from a strong series of EPs in recent years, he is now back with a superb full-length.

Healing Time was written over the last few years, with three previously released tracks edited and revisited. The name refers to the creative process during and after the pandemic, and it finds him exploring new vocal depths as he steps up to the microphone. Says the artist, “this album is an observation of thoughts and feelings, taking risks using vocals to express myself also dealing with frustration and the uncertainty of the difficulties of life we all faced during and after the pandemic, the forced direction of those in power, conflicts, power struggles, hopes and freedom of choice within that”.

Opener ‘Healing Time’ is a kinetic mix of breakbeats and surging basslines, with vocals pleading for more time and adding a sense of melancholy. The crunchy and physical ‘Old School Fool’ twists heavy bass and techno breaks into a dance floor whirlwind, and ‘Hazy Chains’ is a lithe, elastic and bass-heavy rhythm with dark, distorted vocals bringing the menace. Linear B’s uncompromising, strobe-lit and heart of the dance floor style is laid bare again with the bouncing rhythms and aloof vocals of ‘Sleeping Dogs Lie’, industrial sounds and dark vocals of ‘Aint Messing Around’ and stripped-back techno-paranoia of ‘Temptress’.

The second half of the album doesn’t let up with the likes of ‘Long In The Booth’ layering up panel-beaten loops and trippy synth lines and ‘Shimmy and Shake’ bringing sleek synth lines and well-treated futurist vocals to a minimal but potent rhythm. ‘Surrounded at Dawn’ is a hulking great house cut with well-swung drums and zoned-out Depeche Mode-style emo vocals, while ‘Finding Rainbows’ ends on fizzing synth lines and gurgling acid which cannot fail to sweep up the dance floor as the vocals up top bring serene human tones.

This is a fantastic and forward-thinking album from Linear B, which arrives on the 6th of October.

Adorn is the kind of artist who nourishes a special passion for High BPM on a dance floor. Born in Jundiaí, the DJ and producer has a long-time relationship with music, which was born along with his experience as a drummer in Heavy Metal bands in his teens. No wonder, his musical identity comes with a dose of heaviness thanks to this background. The energy he used for his projects within Metal was transformed into the acid and industrial tones of Hard Techno, bringing the power of aggressive beats to his current identity.

With releases on Cartel Recordings, Back in Black, Under Division, DSR Digital — where he reached the global Top 11 of Hard Techno on Beatport —, Waxx Label and Basse-cour, the headbanger reached thousands of plays only on Spotify, in addition to listeners in the four corners of the globe and support from supreme techno names, such as Dax J, 999999999, Dave The Drummer and Richie Hawtin.

Reinforcing his presence, Adorn also runs Rave Lemon, a label dedicated to the atmospheres of Dark and Hard Techno that debuted in May 2020 with his album "Holy Rave". He and his label are also official partners of SEEDJ, a new digital platform.
