The idea is to set aside a few days before regular deer camp to get everything ready. Check stands, ropes, welds, safety features, trail cameras, clear varmints out of blinds and check every possible detail that may have an effect on deer camp. Additionally,  the Harrison’s  discuss the National Deer Association’s Field to Fork program, Josh’s introduction to deer hunting via that program, and everything else concerning deer hunting from field dressing to smash burgers. Too, the trio talks about the all important topic of recruiting new hunters into deer hunting.  As Dr. Harrison says, “it all starts with an “invitation.”

Retired  Marine GySgt Glenn Prather, 1Sgt Emanuel Ambriz, TSgt Aaron Graham, and first responder Josh Hager relive a shared dove hunt earlier that morning. Laughs and pokes were all a part of the fun. And everyone especially enjoyed working their dogs.Sgt Prather brought his Deutsch Drahthaar, Hannah. Sgt Graham brought his German Shorthair Pointer, Boone, and Josh Hager brought his Bracco Italiano, Victra. The hunt proved to be great fun. In the second segment, the guy stalked about the purpose and benefits of  MO Vets  Outdoors. It’s an inspirational program made possible by those who have served.  

Join Living the Dream Outdoors Podcast with host Bill Cooper and special guest Tyler Goodale, of TY’s Multi-Species Guide Service. Tyler hails from the southeastern quarter of Missouri near Fisk, Missouri. Tyler says he has the best of booth worlds. He lives near the famous lowlands of the Mississippi River Delta region, yet he is in sight of the Ozark highlands. As a result, he can hunt and fish and explore the unique natural ecosystems of both regions easily. Raised on a local farm along the Black River, Tyler learned at an early age to fish the sloughs, bayous and swamps of southeast Missouri to help put food on the family table. He and his family were particularly adept at hunting swamp rabbits and at one time owned as many as 27 beagles at one time. Tyler is a talented outdoor writer, photographer and fishing guide. His clients come from all over the world, many desiring to catch a number of species. Whether it’s alligator gar, grinnel, or fliers from the swamps, or trophy smallmouth or walleye from the Back River, or big crappie from Duck Creek, Tyler knows how to catch them. This is  a show near and dear to my heart, because, I, too, was raised in the swamps of southeast Missouri, near the Blkack Bayou.   

Join Living the Dream Outdoors  Podcast host Bill Cooper on the Meramec River. He hits the river at daylight under a full moon. He’s after smallmouth bass. The bite is slow at first but picks up as the sun gets higher and the air gets hot. Bill sits on a gravel bar in the shade with a cold Coke in hand and records this podcast. He talks with a Highway Patrol officer patrolling the river, as well as canoers, kayakers, tubers, rafters and one young lady in a belly boat. Bill also covers the upcoming fall hunting season. Living the Dream Outdoor Podcast host Bill Cooper travels to White Buffalo Fly Shop in Rolla, Missouri. The Roubidoux fly Fishers are there for fly tying night. Billy Edgar leads the class through a step by step process to tie a fly that they can later use on  local trout streams. Podcast guests include shop owner Dany Wynn, long time fly fishing guide Sam Potter, long time fly fisherman Todd Sparks, and new fly angler and tyer, 12-year-old James Wood. It’s a fun show. The trio discusses the Legends of the Outdoors spring turkey hunting camp held at Knox County Whitetails. Other outdoor legends attending the camp included Linda Powell, Ray Eye, Sandy Brady, Dr. Jimmy Sites, Garry Mason, and his son, Michael. The combined efforts of good guides and dedicated hunters resulted in 6 longbeards being taken in 2 days of hunting. And there is more.
