Jesus asks the Pharisees a question about the Christ to show them that the testimony of Scripture has been consistent that the Christ would be both the Son of David and the Son of God. Will they acknowledge this truth-

Jesus cares for His people - we can trust Him, therefore we ought to keep our eyes fixed on Him.

Everyone talks about love, but few understand what true love is. We can't truly love others unless we love and obey God first and foremost in our lives.

The encouragements that the elders of the church are to give to the members of the congregation are to be rooted in the foundational doctrinal truth that Jesus Christ is the God-Man who secured our salvation by giving Himself for us.

Psalm 91 gives us great comfort and strength as we face a variety of trials and afflictions. But these promises only belong to those who trust in Christ for salvation, for He is the one who first secured them for us.

Jesus is confronted by the Sadducees who look to trap him in a question about the resurrection. Instead of falling into the trap, Jesus exposes their ignorance of the Scriptures and rebukes them for denying the power of God to raise the dead.

Hannah's prayer of thanksgiving acknowledges God's power to save and His holiness pointing us toward the coming Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

When you consider our fallen sinful nature, how we're born dead in our sins and transgressions- the thought of such a one coming to new life is truly impossible. And yet, with God, it not only becomes possible, but becomes actual when He graciously saves an undeserving sinner through faith in Jesus Christ.

The salvation which Christ secured for undeserving sinners is effectually applied by the Holy Spirit to the one God had purposed before the foundation of the world to save. The Spirit of God graciously brings to life these who were dead in sins and enables them to hear and respond in faith to the call of the Gospel at the time in history God has appointed. These ones are then truly saved by the grace of God alone.
