When I was twenty years old, I had difficulty reading Charlotte's Web. For the longest time I thought I was stupid for not being able to comprehend what I read. Later I realized the issues with reading comprehension, cognition, critical thinking and learning were a result of trauma and PTSD. Twenty years later, I am working on my second Masters degree. Learning difficulties aren't permanent. And it isn't stupidity, it's an injury to the mind and brain as a result of trauma. Yoga is meant to be a relaxing, feel-good, strengthening practice that centers the body, mind and soul. But for those of us living with moderate to severe chronic pain, it can have an adverse effect (in the short-term). It can increase and worsen the pain. BUT we must not quit prematurely. Yoga therapy has the power to reduce pain and improve quality of life in the long-run. Juanita, health coach and yoga therapist, talks about the importance of yoga and yogic breath for chronic pain and warns about the short-term adverse effects that occur on this journey. 

Medications (pharmaceutical and over-the-counter) have positive but also negative cumulative effects, also called long-term use of medications. The negative side effects can appear as onsets of a new health problem and can hinder any efforts of treatment. 

Juanita shares her story and her own struggles with chronic urticaria (hives), multiple sclerosis, GI problems, nausea/vomiting and the medications that caused many of the side effects while hindering any positive treatment efforts.
