About Stephanie:

As a lifelong educator, Stephanie has spent most of her 30-year teaching career in public education. She has been a case manager for special education students, co-taught math and English classes, and taught reading classes. During the last four years prior to her current position, she coordinated a transition program in the high school she taught in. In this position, she had her students volunteering, participating in internships, and running several different community activities (monthly dances and movies at a local theater). As the Project SEARCH coordinator and instructor, she works with the host business, Concord Hospital, to create internships develop and opportunities to learn employability skills.

Besides her passion for supporting individuals with disabilities, she enjoys spending time on the Maine coast with the hope of retiring there. She also enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time in nature.

About Lorraine:

Lorraine Connell, MEd, MS, is the Owner of Peers, not Fears, LLC, and a veteran educator of over 20 years. As an educational coach and consultant, she has developed curricula for teens and educators on leadership and empathy. She collaborates with others to provide coaching to educators and students everywhere through her company, Peers not Fears, LLC. Lorraine hosts the podcast Education Unimagined, giving a voice to students that are often silenced by the system.

Her work spans the impact of understanding how and where our biases come into play to develop strong communities. In 2022, Lorraine left her full-time chemistry teaching job to work with interested schools, families, and communities to build more equitable access and empowerment of students. When she is not working with others on developing leadership skills, she is supporting her two boys in all their adventures. Lorraine and her husband Justin are both educators and work to improve and develop their and others' social and emotional learning

Kalena: I am a 13-year-old girl who has always been very creative. I’ve loved clothes my whole life and entrepreneurship. Lucy and I have been friends since kindergarten, and having this business has brought us closer. Since grade 2, we found fun and creative ways to keep us occupied.
