When Jesus ascended back to heaven after the resurrection, he promised the gift of the Holy Spirit. this Spirit is the actual presence of God in our world. Bus as comforting as the Spirit is, it can also be frightening to think of an uncontrollable Spirit that might rush into our lives at any moment and change who we are.

"How the World Sees Us"

Mark 8: 27-38

When people saw Jesus they saw many things; a prophet, a teacher, a Messiah, and a Savior. But then how we see Jesus will determine how the world sees us. How the world sees us is very important to Jesus, that as we take the name "Christian" that we never make that name become trivial or unimportant.

Most of us have opened a Bible in our life. Most of us have a few favorite versus we have memorized over the years. Most of us know when we open the Bible, we can expect our lives to be changed in one way or another. I will be preaching a series entitled "Revealed In Red", and most of us know that the words in red are the words of Christ. Many of us have read those red words in our life; but what did we gain from them? What did we learn? Most importantly what red words were read and put into action? Join us as we look at the words of Christ together and see how we, individually and as a congregation, can make the world a better place by living them out in great ways this year.

Jesus saw the world through the lens of his mission, to redeem the lost. This mission is the purpose of the church, and yet, for many churches this purpose has been lost. How we see ourselves as the church is very important to Jesus, that we are a church who faces outward at the world and who moves together to join Jesus in his mission of redemption.

Mark 12: 38-13: 2

People are most important to Jesus and throughout his ministry Jesus illustrated that he had an uncanny ability to SEE people. He saw them when many failed to see them. How we see other people is very important to Jesus, not looking for what's worst in them, but trying to see what Jesus sees in them.

Love Reigns!

Acts 1: 1-11

There is every reason to believe that the ascension of Jesus took the disciples by surprise. One minute he was there, the next he was gone, back to the father. no doubt this caused great fear for their future. However, they would soon find out that the love that brought the cross and the resurrection, it would also bring a gift of hope for the future.
