Title:                       When You Realize It’s Not About You: “You Choose the Right Silverware”

Theme:                   It’s been suggested that people are like silverware; some are like knifes, they cut what  they don’t like in other people and carve life the way they want it. Some are      like forks, they can’t seem to get enough so they are always stabbing at things in a frantic effort to get more. When we realize that it’s not about us, we choose to live like spoons, serving others.

September 6         (Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost)

Title:                      When You Realize It’s Not About You: “You Become a Discipleship Sampler”

Theme:                  Our lives are much like the samplers who give out free samples of food at grocery stores. When we realize it’s not about us we move from being the “sampler” to the one who gives out samples. We give people “samples” of our discipleship, standing on an island of hope and dispensing bits of God’s grace.

Theme:         Jesus told the Disciples, and us, to pray both with His words and with His                              actions.  He finally gave to us a template with which to craft our prayers                      to God.  However, there is so much more in the Lord’s Prayer, than just a                        group of people reciting it from memory on Sunday mornings.
