Have you ever felt like there’s more to life but you just can’t seem to break through to your true potential? According to author WT Hamilton, it’s possible you’ve been limiting yourself without even realizing it.

Hamilton joined host Walt Thiessen on his podcast LOA Today to discuss his new book Xirtam Actuality and how changing your mindset can literally change your reality. “We all live in like two realities,” Hamilton explained. “We live in a 3d reality, which has certain rules and aspects. Then we have this inner verse that we live in, where we can go within, and manifest things create from your idea into a tangible reality.”

But how do you make that shift from idea to manifestation? It starts with your feelings. “I started looking at how I’m doing some of this stuff, and I’m able to bend the rules of the 3d reality, to manifest the things that I want to manifest,” said Hamilton. He encourages focusing not just on your desires but how you want to feel when you achieve them. “What are the key things? Why? Because some people tried to manifest and it doesn’t work out and takes way longer than they thought or it’s very, very difficult.”

For poet Anne-Marie Young, this was an “aha moment.” “I think it’s hard in this day and age to focus on what you want, because a lot of what’s out there isn’t actually real,” she noted. Hamilton agreed that defining your wants in terms of experiences you want to have can help cut through illusions and get to the emotional core.

For those struggling just to meet basic needs, Walt had practical advice, emphasizing the importance of self-esteem and community. “The more people you you are connected to on more than just a surface level, the more likely you’re going to be able to have a chat with somebody to help you get over a hump.”

“When women are shut down, or they’re conditioned, it’s really hard for them to be able to be who they truly are as well and the relationship because she’s not being that way, either.” Marina Pearson shares insightfully.

This profound conversation illuminated the journey many women undertake to uncover their authentic selves and build intimacy in relationships. Marina opened up about her own awakening from people-pleasing tendencies rooted in anxiety and a desire to avoid feelings. “I didn’t really know how I felt about anything. In particular, it was almost like, I can neglected my, my emotional map, my internal emotional landscape,” she reflected.

Marina’s realizations paralleled Jodielynn Craven’s experiences seeking validation from authority figures and “safe” partners who depended on her emotionally. “I would take that role on with, I guess, like authority figures or people that I looked up to, but in relationships with men, I would take the mothering role where I was taking care of them,” Jodielynn shared.

Both women traveled inward, confronting self-doubt and fears of rejection, to clarify their desires. Marina spent six weeks exploring sexuality and giving herself permission to receive pleasure freely. For Jodielynn, pep talks reminded her “You are the Ferrari” worth being treated well.

Their transformations unlocked fulfilling partnerships where Marina’s partner asks “What do you want?” and Jodielynn’s husband supports her needs. Honoring truth and communicating desires openly cultivated intimacy.

We have been trying to make this conversation happen for weeks now, and today it finally happened.

The foster care system faces immense challenges, yet within each challenge lies opportunity – for healing, for growth, and for change. In this emotionally powerful conversation, Brittany Sandoval and Joel Elston shared moving personal stories of resilience in the face of adversity, and a vision of hope through connection.

Brittany recounted her experience as a foster mom, opening her home to over a dozen children in need of care. “I wanted to be able to be that safe space for kids,” she said, driven by witnessing the struggles of her cousins in the system. Joel’s journey began through volunteer work, when he was asked to foster a boy on the brink of institutionalization. Through understanding and unconditional support, Joel was able to help transform this child’s life.

Both spoke passionately about the difficulties faced by all within the foster system – children, families, caseworkers. With overloaded caseloads and inadequate resources, the system itself can unintentionally inflict further harm. Brittany asked poignantly, “Unless we’re making sure even as adults, those kids know how to seek their own resources and advocate for themselves, we’re still setting them up for success or for failure.”

Through open sharing of personal struggles, from ADHD to addiction, Joel and Brittany conveyed hope – that by reframing negative self-talk and embracing our authentic selves, we can overcome. Brittany is writing books to equip foster youth with emotional tools. Joel works pro bono to support foster children’s mental health, recognizing they “don’t have an advocate.”

Most profoundly, they showed that through understanding each other, we can uplift each other. Joel said being in Brittany’s presence makes it “hard to be depressed.” Their contagious positivity suggests that by focusing on our shared humanity rather than differences, we can lift each other to new heights of well-being. When we walk alongside others in compassion, opportunities emerge – to heal, to learn, and to foster hope.

Jodie Lynn found herself burning the candle at both ends, taking on more than she could handle on her family’s farm while also juggling a full-time job and side business. I was also struck by how often I forget to see others, even difficult customers, as multidimensional beings rather than one-dimensional characters. Walt watched a recent film called The Sense Of Beauty on Amazon Prime the other day. In it, he learned that the closer modern day theoretical physicists look at the Universe from a quantum level, the more baffled they are by it.

The film is about the work being done at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, located in Geneva, Switzlerland. CERN is the site of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and highest-energy particle collider.

In 2012, CERN managed to detect for the first time ever the Higgs boson subatomic particle. It has been speculated that this particle has many of the same characteristics as the point of singularity that modern physics says exploded into The Big Bang that created all of the known Universe.

Walt also watched another movie called, Everything and Nothing: The Amazing Science of Empty Space.

The combination of things he picked from these movies tells him that Science is much closer to adopting spiritual beliefs than ever before because of what it has learned, as described in these movies.

He and Anne-Marie discuss this in today’s episode.

Walt said watching the documentaries on quantum physics left him with more questions than answers. “I started to fill in some gaps in my understanding, but I found new gaps,” Walt explained.

As the pair dove deeper, they explored particle physics discoveries like the Higgs boson and how Einstein’s theory of relativity connects to Max Planck’s work. But reconciling theories proved difficult, with Anne-Marie wondering how angles could add to more than 180 degrees. Walt described how the films visualized the concept using a deflated balloon, showing how space itself may curve. A British physicist helped solve the problem by merging Einstein and Plonk’s concepts, leading to the discovery of antimatter. But uncertainty remains, as 400 experts were wrong about the Higgs boson.

“How do you even start to comprehend that information?” Anne-Marie wondered. With only 5% of the universe understood, the conversation turned to creativity and the power of thought.

Walt shared finding a local group exploring these ideas, saying “I was tense but comfortable opening up to the group.”

For Anne-Marie, connecting provides “an education” beyond listening. As science faces the unknown looking for answers, parallels emerge with spirituality. Creativity now drives exploration, as rules fall apart. Walt sees this maximizing potential, believing “thought controls what happens in space.”

For Anne-Marie, “anything is possible,” shifting from “woowoo” to schools.

How can we have meaningful conversations with those who have differing views without disrespect or hostility? This question was at the heart of Philip Blackett's recent conversation on LOA Today with hosts Walt Thiessen and Jodie Lynn Craven.

Philip shared the inspiration for his new book, Disagree Without Disrespect: How to Respectfully Debate with Those who Think, Believe and Vote Differently from You - a lost opportunity for deeper understanding between himself and his sister during a family visit, due to tensions rising without respectful dialogue. "If I experienced that, I wonder how many other people...are probably having similar instances where there's something of value...and just because there's the possibility of disagreement, we don't even engage," reflected Philip.

This resonated with Jodie Lynn's experience at a virtual racial diversity event where "nobody talked...except for Anita." She wondered, "I was really excited to come and learn. And I don't know, tell me all the things, but nobody talked about it." The importance of creating safe spaces for open sharing was emphasized.

Walt recalled graying early and initially feeling upset, until realizing "this is me disagreeing with myself." Personal responsibility in how we respond to life was key. Respect and appreciation emerged as ways to facilitate tough conversations. Philip outlined a 5-step framework: "separate the idea or belief from the identity of the believer."

The conversation dove deeply into navigating conflicting emotions and viewpoints. Jodie Lynn noted "if you were to allow yourself to fully experience the whole picture, you might forget what you're fighting about." Walt wondered "Why do we cut ourselves off from this flow [of feelings]?" The human capacity for choice and changing perspectives over time was explored.

In the end, Jodie Lynn emphasized "we can still have that love and kindness and separate the idea from the individual, and disagree with love." This emotional intelligence is what our world deeply needs. Through respectful dialogue and understanding differing views, we can leave the world better than we found it.

Ray’s unexpected 14-year journey of self-discovery showed him the transformative power of embracing life’s changes. After losing his business and marriage in a short period of time, Ray felt like his “life just didn’t look the same” and he was “standing in a kind of bomb crater just turning around and nothing left in every direction.” Feeling adrift, Ray surrendered to a friend’s suggestion of a sabbatical, not knowing it would lead him on a life-changing adventure.

When Ray’s initial six-month trip to Asia left him still feeling “agitated and very scared about the future,” a monastery retreat opened his eyes to a new perspective. As Ray explored this “dimension further,” doors continued opening that kept him traveling for over a decade. He discovered his true passion helping others through coaching and fundraising. Ray found that “the more it unfolded, the more I sort of was following what it felt like to me my true path in the world.”
