Dellan Stokesbary, an intern with Lee Hay at WVXU, shares his thoughts about Jeremy Bridgman's book, Darci the Drummer , with artwork by Gabbi Steiger. Jeremy Bridgman has written a book for young children ages 4-9 about a 2nd grade girl who wants to be a drummer and the support she needs to accomplish her dream. This book highlights the need for parental support of their children's creative dreams.

As a founding member of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, Jorma Kaukonen has had a long career in the music business. Along his journey, not only did he attend Antioch College where he was introduced to the guitar style of Rev. Gary Davis, but he was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Jefferson Airplane in 1996. He and his bandmate Jack Casaday are currently on tour as Hot Tuna in support of Jorma's new autobiography, Been So Long: My Life and Music , which is on book shelves

On September 29, Her Royal Airship Ashanti and the Midwest Black Speculative Fiction Alliance will be hosting a jazz concert at Withrow High School to celebrate 20 years of the popular anime series, Cowboy Bebop . The concert also benefits Melodic Connections an organization dedicated to teaching people with special needs through the power of music.

I recently spoke by phone with Douglas Blue Feather who's the organizer of the 3rd Annual Ohio Valley Indigenous Music Festival at Patricia Allyn Park in Springboro, Ohio, August 25th and 26th. This festival brings together world class flute makers & performers, as well as vendors of Native American jewelry and other crafts.
