Dr. Caldera was so amazing on the podcast and the timing could not have been better since February is National Children's Dental Health Month. Dr. Caldera wanted to get the word out that tooth decay is the number one chronic childhood disease in the US. She also said that childhood cavities are a huge issue in the US as well. Just listening to her story about beginning a mission trip to Nicaragua, where her family was from and bringing all types of dental specialties there to care for the people in such need of dental care. Her journey from NYU undergraduate through Columbia Dental School and her Columbia Residency. Her passion about prevention and why she became a pediatric dentist is something you have to hear. Dr. Caldera speaks about some of the current challenges in practice, especially trying to use the best quality care and products and the issues with insurance and reimbursement.
