What if the freedom we’re celebrating is actually the idol holding us back?

📖 Key Scripture:
1 Corinthians 9:19 – “Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.”

Freedom was everything to the Corinthians — political freedom, intellectual freedom, spiritual freedom. But Paul wasn’t impressed. He wasn’t boasting about his ministry or flexing his success. Instead, he put his finger on an idol in their hearts: the way they had turned freedom into a status symbol rather than a calling. Christian freedom is not about doing whatever we want — it’s about being free from the things that stop us from becoming who God designed us to be. It’s not a flag to wave or a hill to die on. It’s a cross to carry, a life laid down so that others might encounter Jesus.
