Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about the breaking news of Collins’ name being floated around in a potential trade. Secondly, Jason Goff of the Full Go Podcast joined ATL Day Ones with Jarvis and Tenitra to talk about the upcoming matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears. The Atlanta Falcons face the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Mercedes Benz stadium. The Bears are one of the worst teams in the NFL on defense stopping the run. Jon Chuckery talked about how Marcus Mariota and this Falcons’ offense should be able to get back on track. Secondly, Dean Pees wants his defense to be better than it was last year. As far as sacking the quarterback, the Falcons are a little better than they were in 2021. Jon Chuckery talked about how the Falcons, how the defense isn’t where it needs to be, but they are somewhat better. Lastly, in the announcement of the split-off by Liberty Media, Atlanta Braves’ fans got excited when they heard that their team was looking to be top five spenders in payroll in the near future. With all of the conversations about whether or not Dansby Swanson returning, one would think that would be good news. Chuckery talked about how people should really listen to the comments.

The Atlanta Falcons could be headed for the worst place in professional sports, quarterback purgatory. After nearly 20 years of stability at the position with Matt Ryan, figuring out what's next is paramount. But that doesn't mean that starting Desmond Ridder gives you that answer. This is a big picture problem for the Falcons that will need to be addressed. Next, as UGA gets set to take on Kentucky, I ponder who Georgia fans should be rooting for this weekend and to make the College Football Playoff. Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks weren’t able to buy a bucket against the Boston Celtics last night at State Farm Arena. Jayson Tatum and company were able to knock down shots all over the court. The Celtics exposed Young on defense by getting him matched up on Derrick White. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how the Hawks’ offense has to adjust when they aren’t making shots. Secondly, Grant McAuley of our Locked on Braves POSTCAST joined ATL Day Ones for some Braves’ offseason discussion as Liberty Media made a big announcement. They started off by talking about whether or not Dansby Swanson will return to the team. The chances of Vaughn Grissom being one of Alex Anthopoulos’ backup plans, and what the expectations are for Ronald Acuna Jr. going into 2023. Lastly, Neisha Butler became the first Afro-Latina to open up her own S.T.E.A.M. center for children in New York. Jarvis and Tenitra talked about their former colleague, who played in the WNBA, accomplishing great things in her hometown. Also, they discussed Nick Cannon dropping three million dollars in child support.

When it comes to Kyle Pitts getting the football, Arthur Smith has always been willing to defend the type of season Pitts is having. Pitts currently has two touchdowns so far in his second season in the NFL. Jon Chuckery talked about how he wants Pitts to be more effective in the red zone. Secondly, there have been a lot of conversations this week about Marcus Mariota being the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Mariota has struggled throwing the deep ball. He and Kyle Pitts seem like they haven’t been able to get on the same page in the passing game. If the Atlanta Falcons were to start Desmond Ridder the rest of the year, what would we actually learn about him? Can we really say with any certainty that we know for sure what he is? The short answer is no. There are several examples of that in recent NFL history. Plus, the Falcons could address the quarterback position in free agency this offseason and Ridder could never be part of the equation. UGA has an easy test against the Kentucky Wildcats this weekend. The question is who the toughest test for the Bulldogs will be in the College Football Playoffs. The obvious answer is Ohio State, but there are some other teams that could present a problem. Finally, the Atlanta Braves may have the answer in-house if Dansby Swanson leaves in free agency…then again, they may not. As Major League Baseball is full steam ahead with the offseason. Dansby Swanson declined his one-year 19-million-dollar qualifying offer from the Atlanta Braves. Jon Chuckery talked about what the Braves’ plan should be if Swanson decides to go elsewhere. Also, he discussed who the Braves might add to their rotation. Secondly, the Atlanta Hawks are getting set to face the Eastern Conference favorite in the Boston Celtics. The Hawks added Dejounte Murray in the offseason to help defensively, but the Hawks have become better as a team defensively. Jon Chuckery talked about how there are multiple guys stepping up their game defensively for Nate McMillan. Lastly, the Atlanta Falcons fired Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff after the 2020 season. Quinn was not only judged by performance on the field, but he was also judged by the people who were drafted to this team. Jon Chuckery talked about the effect their draft classes have on Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith.

The “quarterback controversy” for the Atlanta Falcons has made fans and media forget about the litany of other problems with the Falcons. The Falcons’ defense is one of the worst in the league by several metrics. The pass rush that this city has longed for is still missing. There are questions at several other positions. It also seems that even though the Falcons can run the ball really well, the offensive line is awful in pass protection and that also has to change. Secondly, Aaron Freeman of Locked on Falcons joined the show to discuss why Desmond Ridder should get his shot this year. As well, when Justin Fields shows up to Atlanta this weekend, how much of a hit it will be that the Atlanta Falcons passed on him in the 2021 NFL Draft. Finally, the College Football Playoff rankings have told us that it is only possible that four of the current top seven teams have any shot to get in the playoff. Secondly, the Atlanta Hawks went into Milwaukee and spanked the Milwaukee Bucks last night 121-106. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray did their usual biddings helping the team win, but De’Andre Hunter was the story leading the way with 24 points. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how the Hawks have the blueprint on how to beat good basketball teams in the NBA. Also, they discussed the Hawks upcoming matchups against the Boston Celtics and the Toronto Raptors. Lastly, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield will go down as two of the best heavyweight fighters to step into the ring. Their match 25 years ago was one of the most anticipated fights of its time. Now, they’ve decided to collaborate on a business venture. Jarvis and Tenitra talked about if that venture makes any sense.
