The Atlanta Braves have been an organization that has wanted to get their young core under contract for quite some time. The Braves continued with that by signing Austin Riley to a ten-year, 212MM contract extension. Jon Chuckery talked about how he was surprised that Riley was one of the first guys this season to sign an extension for the Braves. Secondly, the Atlanta Falcons have continued to talk about constantly trying to upgrade their roster. At the beginning of camp, Deion Jones was added to the PUP list because he had surgery earlier in the offseason. Jon Chuckery talked about what it means if Jones were to stick around for the 2022 season. Also, Chuckery made a case for Jones to be traded simply because he isn’t a scheme fit anymore. Lastly, as the trade deadline comes to a close, Alex Anthopoulos has been working the phone to try to improve the Atlanta Braves’ roster. Anthopoulos has been known to find value at the trade deadline in the past. Jon Chuckery talked about the additions in the outfield and on the back end of the rotation. Also, Chuckery talked about the type of impact these moves will have going forward.
