The Atlanta Braves finally have their answer as to where Dansby Swanson will play in 2023. Swanson signed a 7-year, 177 million dollar deal with the Chicago Cubs. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how Alex Anthopoulos will have a plan for the shortstop position. Also, the Atlanta Hawks were able to get a win against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. Trae Young and Bogdan Bogdanovic led the way shooting the ball really well from the three-point line. Nate McMillan has gotten off to a good start making adjustments to the lineup with Dejounte Murray and Clint Capela being out. Secondly, Desmond Ridder finally got his chance to start his first NFL game on the road against the New Orleans Saints. Desmond Ridder's debut was exactly what I said it was going to be. Filled with a lot of runs and very limited chances to make mistakes. I still think there will be a lot of built in excuses for his play as we go through the next four games. But if you don't see a true elevation above the level of Mariota, then what do you really have in Ridder? Next, Dansby Swanson is gone and it is a strong signal to other players that they may not be re-signed with the Atlanta Braves. After letting Freddie Freeman and now Swanson leave in free agency, it signals to other players that they might not stick around. Finally, the Atlanta Hawks put together a win and I think at this point, it's fair to move the goalposts and say that if they can get to mid-January at .500, that's a huge plus for the team.

Arthur Smith was pretty clear about Mariota having a “chronic knee issue,” and getting it checked out. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how the decision Mariota made will be his last one as an Atlanta Falcon. Lastly, Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless got into an argument on their show about Tom Brady. Bayless took exception to Sharpe’s comments on Brady and lashed out at Sharpe. Tenitra talked about Bayless’ micro-aggressions and Jarvis offered up some advice to Uncle Shae Shae. Also, they congratulated TC Taylor on being named the next head coach of Jackson State University.

Marcus Mariota’s tenure with the Atlanta Falcons came to an abrupt end. And now that Desmond Ridder completely has the reins, the real problem for the Falcons exists organizationally. Ridder’s play could very well determine the Falcons drafting strategy and that could have very different consequences for the team long term. Next, there are only six teams that can win the Super Bowl this year. It is pretty clear why and everyone else is either too flawed or just not good enough. There are a couple of teams in the NFC East that should be around at the end of January. Finally, there is one more shortstop off the free agent market and Dansby Swanson is the last one left. With the market where it has been for SS this off-season, it feels like Dansby is all but gone. Also, Mark Zinno hands out a Shovel of Wisdom.
