Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

What a way to squander a victory. Somehow, someway, the Phoenix Suns are coming up with new ways of accomplishing that since their 7-4 start to the season.

This time, what about a 21-point collapse in the final 15 minutes of regulation? This is certainly a new one, which could lead to changes all around the Suns soon enough. The problems are too wide-ranging and compounding to fix with small tweaks.

Devin Booker continued his incredible scoring streak, adding his seventh consecutive 30-point night, but what’s happened to the flow of Phoenix’s offense during that stretch?

We go over all of this on our usual free throws, flagrant fouls, and stats to watch postgame from Talking Stick Resort Arena.

The Phoenix Suns have decided to embrace size in their starting unit, playing former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton as their power forward alongside Aron Baynes. What does this mean for the Suns moving forward, if this duo continues to be trotted out? And is it even a good idea? It’s all Bayton everything on today’s episode, with guest Gerald Bourguet.

Speaking of rotation changes, Dario Saric looks to be the odd man out right now. And in the final year of his contract, that shows how Phoenix likely feels about him moving forward.

We analyze possible trade options for Saric leading up to February’s trade deadline to close out the show.

What a disappointing end of the weekend for the Phoenix Suns. After an impressive comeback against the Knicks, that all vanished with another bad outing versus Memphis.

Monty Williams was so frustrated postgame he gave an opening statement, and then walked off.

It looks like the Aron Baynes and Deandre combination isn’t going to work long-term. We talk through the rotation changes and what it means for Dario Saric and Cam Johnson.

It’s safe to say an important stretch for the Suns right now is on the verge of being squandered away.

After a report from Eric Pincus at Bleacher Report signaling the Clippers’ interest in Aron Baynes ahead of the February trade deadline, we explore the Suns’ growing trade possibilities this season.

While it’s unlikely the Suns part ways with Baynes any time soon, they certainly should be active. Kevin Love isn’t much of a fit with what the Suns need right now, but Danilo Gallinari’s defensive versatility and shot creation could be a big lift, if the Suns are willing to give up a first-round pick.

We close the show by looking at a slew of 2019 free agents that the Suns were reportedly interested in and whether they were right or wrong to pass them by.

Brendon goes solo to recap an up-and-down loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles. After a miserable first half, the Suns dominated the final 24 minutes but missed threes and an injury to Ricky Rubio prevented them from finishing off the comeback.

Brendon breaks down the strong play and aggressive energy from Deandre Ayton and Tyler Johnson down the stretch and what it could mean going forward.

Finally, more on why the Lakers are such a bad matchup for the Suns and how LeBron James got his triple-double to close out the show.

Is Karl-Anthony Towns about to set a new precedent for today’s NBA player empowerment movement? There’s lots of smoke around Towns being unhappy now in Minnesota during the first season of his five-year max extension. If he does indeed ask out sometime soon, will the Suns pounce on the opportunity?

Meanwhile, how about that rocky December for Phoenix? Finishing 5-10 on the month, what were the biggest takeaways?

We finish up talking about the chances Devin Booker makes his first All-Star appearance in 2020. Booker's team is improved, plus his numbers have maintained with even higher efficiency. Who are Booker's biggest competitors for a reserve spot?

Well, that’s one way to pull off an important victory. After trailing 38-19 at the end of the first quarter, the Suns went on to outscore Portland the next three stanzas thanks to strong performances across the board.

Devin Booker continued to prove he’s back to his old self with another high-scoring, efficient outing while Kelly Oubre Jr. stepped up as the Suns’ 1B option behind their $158 million man.

Meanwhile, Dario Saric had another poor outing. Could we see more small-ball incoming, maybe even Mikal Bridges taking Saric’s starting spot eventually if these types of duds continue?

What an eventful weekend back-to-back that was for the Phoenix Suns, right?

After a chaotic loss against the Warriors, Phoenix snapped their skid in Sacramento the next night thanks to Harrison Barnes missing a wide-open three-pointer.

Devin Booker seems to be figuring out when to flip the aggressive switch, while the Suns overall continue to struggle in clutch situations.

We break down everything we saw during the back to back this weekend.

The Phoenix Suns are currently in a tailspin, losing their past six games. What can they do to shake out of this funk? It doesn’t get any easier closing out the month of December with top-tier opponents.

Then, we look into what’s up with Mikal Bridges? Phoenix’s second-year wing hasn’t been able to change his offensive style this year, and head coach Monty Williams seems to be getting frustrated by it as well.

Finally, we close on the backup point guard spot. Will any of Jevon Carter, Tyler Johnson, Elie Okobo or Ty Jerome cut it? If not, should the Suns explore trade options as we get closer to February’s deadline?
