Locked On Twins - Daily Podcast On The Minnesota Twins

Nelson Cruz has recently expressed his desire to wait out free agency in hopes of 15 more clubs vying for his services via the universal DH. He could be coveted by more than a handful of teams, prompting the Twins to have to meet his demand of a two year deal.

J.D. Martinez also has two years (one player option) remaining on his contract for just under $40 million. The 33-year-old slugger struggled like many stars in 2020, but is a prime bounce back candidate on a Red Sox team that has shown a willingness to trade salary. Should the Twins be interested? What would it cost? Is it worth it?

Mitch Garver posted one of the best offensive seasons in MLB history in 2019. He struggled mightily in the shortened 2020 campaign, frequently swinging through fastballs and the like. What happened? Should the Twins take advantage and sign him to an extension?

The deadline to add eligible minor leaguers to the 40-man roster was Friday at 5 p.m. The Twins added three, two pitchers and a catcher. Jordan Balazovic, MLB Pipeline's No. 81 prospect, was an easy addition. The imposing 6-foot-9 righty Bailey Ober was also added, and the left-handed catcher Ben Rortvedt made the cut as well. What does this mean about these three in the Twins' future plans?

Plus, notes on Jake Odorizzi.
