The Twins lost 9-3 Wednesday night to the Milwaukee Brewers. Rich Hill was activated from the IL and started this game. He breezed through eight outs before hitting a brick wall with two outs in the third inning. He didn't make it through the inning and the Twins found themselves in an 8-1 hole by the fifth.

The series finale Thursday will send Brandon Woodruff to the mound to face off against José Berríos. Woodruff has been strong since 2019, posting a 3.54 ERA and 10.6 strikeouts-per-nine. Berríos is desperate for a good outing to improve on his 5.92 ERA.

Kenta Maeda pitched extraordinarily well Tuesday. He struck out eight straight batters, a new team record. He carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning before Eric Sogard hit a bloop single to centerfield. Maeda was pulled for Rogers with one on, no outs and a 3-0 lead. Rogers gave up a double and then walked Christian Yelich. Keston Hiura proceeded to single, then the Twins committed an error trying to turn a double play, and Milwaukee tied it up at 3.

The game lasted 12 innings thanks to Caleb Thielbar and Jorge Alcalá coming in clutch from the bullpen. Taking advantage of the new extra-innings rule, Byron Buxton began the 12th on second base and ended up scoring on a Jorge Polanco swinging bunt. The Twins won 4-3. The game was an emotional rollercoaster and will go down as one of the best in recent memory.

Nelson Cruz hit two more home runs Monday night in a 4-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. Cruz has eight homers on the year and ranks second to Tampa Bay's Brandon Lowe in most offensive statistics.

Also, Fernando TatÍs Jr. hit a grand slam in a 3-0 count with his team leading 10-1 in the late innings. MLB Twitter and the baseball world exploded in overwhelming support for the young superstar's swing.

The Twins took two out of three from Kansas City this weekend despite hitting just .208/.284/.364. The four game series concludes tonight with Matt Wisler opening against Kris Bubic for the Royals. Devin Smeltzer is the likely candidate to relieve for Wisler after 1-to-3 innings. Kris Bubic, a left-handed rookie, has a 5.40 ERA in 15 innings this year. Bubic relies mainly on a four-seam fastball and a changeup. His fastball has averaged 92 mph of velocity so far this year. The Twins will look to capitalize and win the series.

The Twins are home for a four-game series against the Kansas City Royals. Minnesota is 0-3 against the Royals this year after being swept last weekend at Kauffman Stadium. Jake Odorizzi will start Friday against right-hander Jakob Junis. Josh Donaldson remains out with a calf strain. Donaldson was scheduled to be reinstated from the IL Friday but isn't in the lineup for the series opener.

The Twins scored 12 runs and Kenta Maeda impressed again in Wednesday's series clincher in Milwaukee. Byron Buxton homered twice more and now has five long balls in 15 games. Miguel Sanó hit a ball about 5,000 feet, Mitch Garver had three hits, and Luis Arráez had a .600 on-base percentage in five plate appearances. The Twins have an off-day Thursday before hosting Kansas City in a four game series starting Friday.

The Twins finally won a baseball game Monday in Milwaukee. Eddie Rosario hit a grand slam in the third inning and the Twins never looked back. Randy Dobnak started and won again, allowing only one run in five innings. Dobnak has the lowest ERA in Major League Baseball at 0.90. He is on #CyYoungWatch. Minnesota is back in action tonight against Josh Lindblom. The Twins are planning on a bullpen game with Tyler Clippard opening.

The Twins have lost four straight games after starting the season 10-2. The Royals held the Twins' offense to an extremely poor .208/.273/.366 (.639) slash line in the series. Twins pitchers posted a 6.00 ERA in 24 innings. That is not a formula for success. Looking to bounce back, Randy Dobnak will be on the hill Monday in Milwaukee. The 6-7 Brewers will trot out right-hander Adrian Houser to contest.
