LoCLE Grown

Go to therapy or go to a Terra Songwriting Retreat. (we are not sponsored by BetterHelp...yet...)

This felt like one of the most impactful conversations we've had in a long time on this podcast because it is chalk full of great insights surrounding the songwriting process. Then, an INTERACTIVE PERFORMANCE?? I mean, come on.

THANK YOU, ELIJAH! Follow Elijah here and Terra Songwriting here to stay up to date on the wonderful things going on in this community.

This episode is a special milestone for us, as we finally got the chance to interview a band we've admired and eagerly awaited new music from - Mr. Gnome! After a 4-year hiatus since their last album and 8 years away from the stage, they’re back with an incredible new album and tour.

A huge thank you to Sam and Nicole for joining us, and welcome back to the scene! Follow Mr. Gnome on Instagram to watch their journey unfold as they return to performing live.

On Saturday, November 2nd, they’ll be taking the stage for a long-awaited homecoming show at The Beachland Ballroom, and if you're a local, grab your ticket to their show this Saturday while tickets are still available! You do not want to miss this.

***DISCLAIMER: Unexpected surprises are all part of recording at our studio, and this time our upstairs neighbor decided to join in with some earth-shattering bass music during the episode. As a result, we had to pause a few times and make some edits to the interview. But hey, during those pauses, a little tequila was poured, which led to some pretty hilarious and insightful conversations once the mics were back on.

It's fall, y'all, our fave time of the year! This week, as we gear up for LG Live 2024 at crobar this Saturday, we chat with one of the artists performing, Phoenix Vibes (PXVBS). Our meet-cute with PXVBS involved a long night after a Curse of the Kia Boys, and we've been running into him ever since! PXVBS has an incredibly business-saavy approach to his music game, listen to this episode to hear his experiences with sync licensing, creating a mission statement, and maintaining a spreadsheet of his massive discography.

Check out PXVBS on Saturday, October 5th for LoCLE Grown Live - our 5 year anniversary celebration! You can also follow him here and check out his latest work here.

In our 84th episode, we reunite with The Chewy Center after our LoCLE Grown From Home episode back in 2020. These guys have been a huge part of the music scene for many years, but their newest album "Janet Flight" has really become their proudest and most uniquely "them" project yet. The coolest thing about The Chewy Center is that they have never replaced a band member, only adding on new ones. Now a 5-piece band, they have began to draw the attention of the fans they are trying to attract - the dads of Cleveland.

We talk a lot about the tracks that make up the entire story of "Janet Flight", specifically about what a Janet Flight is and how the idea of it has influenced this concept album. Now with this project out, their next move is to reinvent a couple covers to get the creative juices flowing! Check out "Janet Flight" and follow The Chewy Center to see them at their next show!

Friends, we bring you another beautiful episode on another beautiful Sunday, this week with a new band that is making a splash in Cleveland, Rellick! This 'Cinematic Rock' band is all about the storytelling and stage presence (eyes open or closed, still TBD), and lead singer Mike Rellick tells us about how his learnings from being an Opera singer have directly contributed to how the band performs onstage and sounds on their recordings. We also talk about the depth of their song "Salt-Stained" and why they chose to release this song 3 different ways.

Also, not to get too emotional here, but y'all ever seen Ice Age?? Real tears every time. Check out their latest releases, and announced here and now! New EP "One Of" will be dropping soon! To stay connected to Rellick, follow them on Instagram.

Thanks, Rellick! Can't wait to see you all at our LoCLE Grown Live event at crobar on 10/3! To get your tickets, click here!

With the release of their debut album just this past weekend, we welcomed Lake Philly into the studio to talk about the dedication and hard work they've put in over the past year to carve out their own niche in the local music scene. Lead vocalist and guitarist AJ shares insights into the deceptively complex songwriting process, why "Good Things Last" stands out as one of his favorites from the album, and his thoughts on why mascoted characters just don't resonate with him.

We also dive into the "genealogy of rock" (Mom, Dad, Aunt, Cousin…) and reveal a startling truth about which band member isn't a fan of Steely Dan—a revelation that raises some eyebrows among the rest of the group. Remember, folks, everyday's a season.

Lake Philly is really a whole vibe, listen to their self-titled album that just came out and show them some love! Follow them on Instagram here.

We Got Thic™️ in this episode with a 'band of hired guns' - Thicarus! This episode was fueled by the love of perfectly worn-in jeans, adult slide whistles, and honey mustard. Just like when you see Thicarus at a show, you never know what's going to happen next in this interview.

This band is comprised of all full-time musicians who are living the life of going gig to gig, practice to practice, but still come together to do what they love together, and it works SO WELL. This group does a lot of things well, explaining one of the more unique approaches to songwriting that we have heard on this show. They also are calling out some bands in here BY NAME, so look out, all you horn bands of Cleveland...

Thank you, Thicarus, for joining us today! Give them a follow to see where they'll be next, because it's a guaranteed good time every time!
