LoCLE Grown

In this glorious episode, we dive deep into the vibrant world of Cleveland hip hop with none other than the legendary Domingo Kite!

From tearing it up in Twead suits to dropping tracks that'll make your grandma breakdance, Domingo's journey is nothing short of entertaining to say the least. But before we get into the juicy bits, let's rewind to where it all began.

Picture this: Cleveland, July 2023. Domingo steps onto the stage for his very first performance, surrounded by the likes of Jinari Kemet, MADSTARR, and TobyRaps. Fast forward to today, and Domingo has experienced countless full circle moments that lead up to the very interview you're about to hear.

His upcoming mixtape will be releasing in the fall, and from the sounds of it, it's about to get WEIRD, so buckle up buttercups. Domingo Kite is an absolute treasure and these stories are a great testament to the impact he has made on Cleveland music today.

Thanks Domingo! Give him a follow and be on the lookout for new singles dropping soon! Instagram here, Linktree here.

It is kind of funny that the interviews where we meet the artist for the first time in our studio always end up being absolute riots. Today, we are joined by Clare Feorene, singer/songwriter with a mesmerizing voice and amazing sense of humor. We really speed run through our relationship in these 50 or so minutes and learn about her skills of fanning fog machines, being lost in a desert, and the first song (jingle?) she ever wrote.

Clare has incredible stories and we know we are only scratching the surface in this chat, so listen to her album Peculiar Places to get a deeper look into the magic that is Clare Feorene. She is on tour this week but returns to Cleveland June 8th for her show at The Beachland so CHECK IT OUT.

Thank you, Clare, and please make sure to follow her everywhere to get the latest info, including the merch drop! Website here and Instagram here!

Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day Weekend! We invited long-time friends of the show The Baker's Basement into the studio to talk about their upcoming album "Down Down Domino", releasing in November, and plenty of other topics we needed to catch up on. The Baker's Basement have been a part of the show since it's first month when we were still on the radio, and have seen us in many phases and adaptations.

Adam and Kate have a wildly interesting approach to songwriting and music in general. We shoutout all birds of the world and discuss the utilization of all the rooms in their house for recording purposes. And just so you know, where there's The Baker's Basement, there are buckets.

Catch their latest single "Bad Habits" on all platforms and be ready for a new single and creative music video from them each month leading up to the album drop. Check out their website and make sure to follow them to see them perform live (one of the best experiences ever). We love you, TBB!

Today, we checked in with our old pals The Rosies, a group whom we’ve been blessed to witness their growth over the years. We talk about their early days, last interview with us in 2022, and the events that lead to these exciting stories and updates you’ll hear in this interview!

These Lake Erie Surf Punkers tell us the story of being the first and probably only band to play on top of the Terminal Tower and how they secured a spot on tour with the nationally touring band swmrs.

Follow The Rosies on Instagram to get the latest updates and you have GOT to check out these guys at a show to get the full magic of it all, but be on the lookout for new music coming soon!! Thanks again, guys!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, and we have a Mother of an episode this week with AllTheHipe and Astral Housefly. We have known this duo for quite some time, so this interview gets a little chaotic as we cover all the important topics: from The Golden Age of YouTube to the art of the Slav Squat. At the same time, we do recount last summer's debauchery at Everwild when we were camping neighbors and how they opened up the entire festival weekend as well as how the dynamic between these two has developed over their many years together.

This episode was an absolute blast filled with lots of laughs and potentially a few personal jabs...you gotta listen in on this one. New music coming soon including a single called "No White Flags". Follow AllTheHipe and see everything from his Linktree and Astral Housefly here! Thanks again, guys! See you at Everwild '24.

We talk to the Cole Slaw City Boy himself, Jake Briggs! Jake is a musician in Cleveland who has his hand in many buckets - from his solo work to playing in professional ensembles in the Cleveland area (one even being dedicated to video game music!). His music can be comedic, sensitive, intense or melodious, and no matter what it is always 100% his own and will speak to some part of your heart.

In this chat, we unveil the JLaird rebrand (it's going to take some time), dish on some of that Taylor Swift drama (which we know nothing about), discuss how dissecting your own lyrics help with self reflection, and we may jerk some tears.

Catch Jake Briggs at a show near you, he is always out and about and ready to collab! If you are an artist and would like help with composition, this is your guy! Stay connected to him through Instagram and be on the lookout for new music and the next gig.

We start this episode off with a toast to the longest anticipated interview so far for our show, as we had plans to meet with Joey Aich since the show was on the radio 2+ years ago! Finally, the time has come and it was well worth the wait, as Joey is on the tail end of his Aich Madness tour and gearing up for a new wave of music to be released (plus a completely new project under a new alias, as well!).

This episode is chalk full of inspiring stories and lessons Joey has experienced, from opening up for Freddie Gibbs and IDK to teaching songwriting to young aspiring artists. We also bring out the Jar of Wonders that incites a hilarious and potentially traumatizing fiasco Joey had at a Canes. Tune in, friends!!

Thank you for the awesome episode, Joey! Follow him everywhere to see what he's doing next (hint: it's Big Things Only). Linktree here!

This week, we welcomed Cleveland DJ Sleazus Christ who proves our thesis by the end, that it ain't easy, being Sleazy. We talk about that one life-changing moment on the dance floor, his 12-18 hour runs he did when starting out as a DJ, and just dive deep into the mind of a DJ during their sets. We also shoutout the Tumblr Era and Detroit Techno.

A little elegant, a little Sleazy. All, Sleazus Christ. Check out his completely improvised set at the end of this interview and catch him around Cleveland live and in person! Stay connected with him here and by following him on Instagram.

We started it off HOT with talking about the Civil War in this episode with Fruitfly! And it only gets better from there.  Since their debut album "Running on Fumes" in 2021, Fruitfly has been evolving and recontextualising their sound, and now their second album "When the Weather is Nice" will be releasing April 12th!

In this episode, we chat about the upcoming album and tour that will be following, and have a business proposal for a Fruit Ninja sponsorship. Each song in this album is different from the last, one being in 13:8 (music nerds - you know what we're talking about) and how the overall tone of the album comments on the way our moods change with the season, but there are things you can hold onto through the rough times to get you through them. We also shoutout their Band Besties from Buffalo (Starjuice) and discuss the importance of having someone show you the ropes in this industry.

Follow Fruitfly on Instagram to stay plugged into everything they're doing, and check out their super cool website, fruitflymusic.com.

Such a great time with these guys, thanks again Fruitfly! Look out for "When the Weather is Nice" dropping in just a couple weeks, and catch them at their album release show on 4/13 at the House of Blues Cambridge Room!

Today we said "Aww Yeah!" to Richard Candow, a.k.a. RC3, who you may remember was a guest on our episode with ZuP a few months ago, and we had such a great time we had to invite him back to talk more about his experiences this past year as a DJ for the local hip hop scene and playing his own mixes, too! In his words, he's been a pain in the ass his entire life and staying true to the brand, so this was naturally a very fun episode to record.

Then we get a little deep and talk about his newly released track with ZuP and James Begin, "Glizzys", and how he has found himself on a mental wellness journey that has inspired a new mantra.

Check out this amazing 30 minute set at the end of this episode, featuring almost exclusively Cleveland rappers, and make sure to follow him on Instagram to learn more about this awesome dude and what he has in store for us next!

Thanks, again RC3!
