    As a very, very special treat - I'm proud to be able to debut and share this new classic in Chill compilations, Andrew Sonic's Global Grooves.   I have to confess, this is one of Andrew Sonic's most comprehensive mixes I've heard to date.  He scoured the globe to gather the planet's finest down-tempo music (I didn't even know Greece produced such tracks). The end result is one of those rare "more than the sum of it's parts" creation.  I've had the beta version of this mix in my CD player for 6 weeks already and I still love it, finding nuances like trippy Arabic percussion patterns, Chinese and Polynesian instrumentation, and Indian and Brazilian vocal parts intertwined into one of the most creative mixes I've ever heard.

      Part of the enjoyment of my blog is to be able to share things about myself and my career in music.  Here is something you probably did not know about me… I am a sound/color synesthete.  In the psychological phenomenon known as synesthesia, individuals' sensory systems are a bit more intertwined than usual.  Some people, for example, report seeing colors when musical notes are played.  Like most synesthetes, I consider it a gift - an additional "hidden" sense.

      Without being fully aware of it, I apply this gift when enjoying music and creating mixes.  Besides using a songs’ tempo, key and energy level, I sequence and mix individual music tracks together based on color harmony.  This “visualization” of sound is why I might prefer a particular remix of a song over another for the context of what I’m trying to create. 

      "We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege & our adventure to discover our own special light."

        The 1981 Top Tune Medley is the first of my productions to be released as a vinyl record.

        It is a collection of all the big dancefloor filling hits from my first nightclub in Chicago called "POETS" on 9 West Division Street.  When I produced this first medley, I was still learning all the tricks of editing. Also, all the songs used were hits during 1981. Some were released at the end of 1980, but my production was a sonic snapshot of what was packing dance floors in Chicago that year.  I was 17 years old at the time and working with a fake ID that said I was 22 - I still can't believe I got away with it. lol.  What fun. I was so naive.  I just wanted to spin records for a packed dancefloor.  I hope this brings back lots of great memories for you. I bet it will!

            While creating this set, I tried to include toe-tapping, sing-along favorites, new and old... put in a slightly twisted context to keep them all sounding fresh and uniquely "Lollipop".  I transferred several of these masterpieces direct from my own original vinyl copies just to include in this mix.  I hope listening to my Sexy Lazy Pool Mix brings a big smile to your face as your summer unfolds and that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it for you.  Download, turn up and enjoy (just remember the sunscreen!)

            This mix highlights the emerging retro "Disco/Not Disco" sound along with the omnipresent electro-grooves of the hottest dancefloor packing house, trance & tribal club remixes.  Inspired by some of Europe's trendiest clubs, this latest mix celebrates the Dirtypop couture clubbing mode of the French personnes de partie.  Check out the song tempo transitions in the middle of the mix, it will even send the (normally jaded) Marais dancefloors into a manic frenzy!
